Chapter 54: She Never Saw Him Again.

" Mom, what happened?"

" Sorry Victoria. Oscar didn't want to tell you but I think it's only right for you to know."

Victoria sat up properly looking all serious. Victoria didn't like being indebted to anyone. That's why she thought she was being like that but somewhere deep inside, she knew she wasn't like that because of that. 

" Well, I should start with the beginning. When you followed the serial killer into the restaurant, Oscar was actually following you because he was worried about you. He didn't know that you were planning to get captured by the killer. Had he known, he wouldn't let you. So when you got abducted, Oscar felt like dying. I can understand him...

As soon as he discovered you were missing, he used all his powers to search for you. He used his connections and got affiliated with the police special forces. Together with the police, he searched and did everything he could to save you. They somehow traced the killers home but unfortunately, you were not there. He casually told me that at that time, they were feeling sp helpless. They were at his house but they couldn't find him. It was like he was in the light but the enemy was in the dark. Oscar said he felt himself sinking into darkness. He was falling apart when she faintly saw the plain part in the middle of the woods. He said it was so suspicious to him that he took off to search for that place. When he reached there, Oscar had a hard time finding the door but then he received a clue. A message that ignited his hope once again.

" Was it... "

" Yes. It was what you left." Victoria's eyes got a bit teary but she quickly hid them. 

" Then Oscar searched for you like crazy. When he finally reached the underground, the door to the inner basement opened itself. The one who opened it was the victims. He was very shocked. You had already done everything before he could do anything for you. Then one of the victims told him to search for you. When he found you, he almost stopped breathing...

When he spoke about this, I could feel how terrified he was of that memory. Just talking about it made him go pale. He said that you looked like you were dead. He said he was so afraid to touch you that he was frozen. He told me that it was one memory that left a trauma on him. But then, you said that you're okay. He said that hearing you were the only thing that kept him going. He picked you up and somehow, they managed to save you. 

I heard that when he brought you up, he looked like he was holding a corpse. He was so badly broken that only you kept him going. I still remember how he was in the hospital. When you were in the operation, Oscar waited outside lifelessly. He literally had no energy or will to talk. 

After that, for the 4 weeks of observation, Oscar didn't leave your side at all. He didn't change his clothes, go out of the hospital or anything. His hair grew longer along with his beard and moustache but he remained lifeless. After a few months, he was still there. Oscar rarely left your side. One day, suddenly his family come to the hospital. Oscar looked so different they had a hard time recognising him. He left the company so suddenly and didn't even go home. That made his family panic. His mother even cried. 

Soon after that, we planned to bring you somewhere else. Somewhere beautiful with a good environment. Oscar came to know about it and begged us to let him be with you. We wanted to make him let you go, we tried to ignore him and treat him harshly. But he did everything he could to stay with you. He begged and pleaded to let you be with him. At that time, I finally gave up on making him so. 

Since then he stayed with me in this house. We both took care of you. He thoughtfully looked after me too.  I was so devasted because of your situation that I wasn't taking care of myself. I would often skip meals but he never let me. He forcefully made me eat. I also started caring for him like a son. He was no better than me. He also skipped meals secretly. I once caught him and since then, we had dinner together to make sure no one skipped. That's how we survived these 2 years.

Before when you were in the hospital, he told me he desired nothing but to be by your side. He said he could bear everything other than you despising him. He told me that he was too fortunate to ask for more. He said that he would disappear if you came to despise him... "

Victoria's pupils shook as she heard Sia. She recalled all the harsh things she had said to him. Then she recalled the last time they met before her accident. If it was someone else, they would have left. But he still stayed there. Even after hearing such harsh words. She finally understood why he left so easily. Victoria was very disturbed by hearing this.

Sia saw how Victoria looked. She felt bad for her but she needed to let her know. Sia held Victoria's face and told her seriously.

" Victoria, I understand you. I know what you are going through. I really do. That's why I am telling you all this. Don't make this mistake. Someone like Oscar won't come again. Believe me, he is the only one for you. You won't really understand me today but one day, I swear you will be glad and thankful to be alive, to meet him and to be with him. One thing that I am sure about is... He will make you fall for him. You will love him and you won't ever come to regret falling for this man. I am sure about this. I am only saying this because I want to see you happy. And I really believe that Oscar will be the only one to make you happy."

After Sia left, Victoria lay in her bed but couldn't fall asleep. After that, another month passed by, and she returned to City Z but never saw Oscar again. Always her eyes would search for a car secretly watching her like before. But she never found it. She never saw him again.
