" It... It doesn't have anything to-to do with me. Just-just having the same last name doesn't mean I am that person."
" Oh really? It's okay. I can get the proof before the next trial. It was supposed to be the last but since we found some errors, we can continue. And of course, we will have to see why you were not suspected. It's a pity you came first. Had you come later than Henry, you would've been safe."
The witness was pale. He was scared shitless. At that moment, he knew he would land himself in trouble. If he knew Victoria would be the lawyer, he would have never dared lie in the first place. But he ended up doing that. Victoria was known for her reputation of never letting the culprit go. She would appeal to the court again if a culprit walked free. But she didn't need to until now. Moreover, now everyone knew that she had a strong backer.
Cold sweat run down his face as he nervously looked at Victoria. Then he asked cautiously.
" If-if I didn't come before him, would I-I be safe?!"
" Yes. The minimum sentence for false testimony is 3-7 years. But if you are honest and cooperative, you will be fined and put on probation. However, that is if you just give false testimony. If you are involved in the crime and helped the culprit in the process, then you will be in trouble."
The witness looked very anxious. It seem like he was thinking about Victoria's words. Seeing this, the culprit and his lawyer get nervous.
" Objection You Honour. Miss Helson is scaring the witness and misleading him!"
" I-I will testify! I lied but I will be honest from now on. Henry was the one who murdered her! I saw it with my own eyes!"
" Bastard! How dare you betray me! I won't let you go! You are just a dirty illegitimate child of a jerk! How dare you go against me?!"
Hearing his testimony, Henry went crazy. Mr Frenandes tried his best to calm him down as he was sweating buckets. Fighting Victoria was really no joke.
Victoria smiled as she achieved her purpose. Now, she has won.
" Then please tell this court what you saw."
The witness nervously gulped. Then he looked at Victoria as he spoke. The culprit was making a rukus on the side. But he continued.
" I first met Henry inside the bar. I saw that he was alone and wanted to hook up with a girl. I had a companion with me. But I wanted to make aquantance with Henry as his father was the CEO of XXX company. Therefore, I approached him and left behind my companion. But Henry treated me like his dog and told me to get lost.
I felt rage but left because I couldn't offend him. Meanwhile, I noticed him eyeing a girl for some time. She was beautiful and other men were also looking at her. So I didn't think much about it.
But after some time passed, I went to smoke. I didn't know when Henry left the bar as I was with my companion. However, like I said, I heard some noises and went to the back of the bar. What I saw was Henry and the Victim. The victim seem dead while Henry was standing in front of her with messy clothes. He was panting a lot.
I was so shocked by the scene that I staggered behind and hit the trash can. When he heard the voice, Henry looked back. He saw me and warned me to keep shut. He also told me to act with him. At first he tried to bribe me by telling me he would help me.
As I am the illegitimate child, I was always at a disadvantage so I was tempted. But I was still hesitating when he threatened me. He said that he was rich and had connections so in the end, he will walk out. Therefore, if I defied him now, he would not let me go. Then I agreed with him... "
" You f***ing bastard! How dare you do this?!"
The witness ignored the culprit as he spoke while sweating slightly.
" After that, Henry run back to change clothes because he would be caught. In the meantime, he asked me to wait there and take care of all the evidence. He came back soon and then he called the police and ambulance. He called the police first because she was already dead and he wanted to look like a honest person who was just reporting the crime.
I wasn't suspected because we both used out connections. If he let me be suspected, he knew I would speak against him. Moreover, he was so confident that he would not be convicted that he let himself be suspected. He was probably used to going unpunished after committing sins. After all, his reputation is not good in our circle."
Everyone was listening intently. No one knew when it happened but Victoria suddenly changed the course of the case. They were 100% sure they were going to lose this case but Victoria made it a 100% sure win case. It proved that Victoria made a 100% of difference when she interferes with something.
It was Victoria's specialty. For the cases she had definite evidence, she let her underlings handle it but for the cases like this, she used her own tricks and won. She has always been gifted in word games and all. Even before she was in this industry.
" He is lying! That bastard is lying. He just wants to take revenge on me for treating him like a bastard! He was the one who killed her. I saw it with my own eyes. This f*****g bastard is lying! Can't you hear me?!"
" Silence... "
The guards held the culprit down. Mr Frenandes had already given up on him. Then Victoria spoke again.
" Witness, do you have any idea where his clothes could be?"
" Yes. It must be somewhere in the bar. Maybe in a bathrooms trashcan. I am sure it must be somewhere in the bar."
" It's been some time. It may not be there anymore. But it's okay. We already have your testimony and it's enough to prove that he was the one who killed her."
" That's all Your Honour." Victoria looked at the judge and said before going back to her seat.
" Both sides may give their closing statements."
Victoria stood up and spoke while looking at everyone.
" The victim was a 24 years old woman who had a bright future ahead. She was from a good family, had a lot of people who loved her and a successful career awaited her. She was there to celebrate her success in job. But she didn't know that it would be the last nightmare of her life.
Along with the victim, her family, her parents, her friends and everyone who loved her were in so much pain and this pain won't ever lessen. The shock of losing their daughter so brutally made the victim's father go into a cardiac arrest. Her mother stayed with him in the hospital as he is in a delicate situation. That's why they are not here today. The victim won't ever come back. Their wounds will never heal. The victim who didn't get to say anything would never be back.
Even if he died, he couldn't compensate for such a crime. Moreover, to use such a cheap and mean methods to hide his crimes, he should not be forgiven. The defendant showed no sighs of remorse or guilt either. Rather, he is full of rage like he was the one who suffered injustice.
Therefore, for raping and murdering the victim, I plead the judges to give him the sentence of life imprisonment."
As the culprit was making a rukus, the judge ordered him to be taken away and held captive until the verdict was given. Then the Judge gave them a lunch break before she would give her verdict.
