Victoria saw that it was Oscar's call. She also found an excuse and went to a quiet corner. There she answered the call.
" Hello?"
" Hey," Oscar replied gently with a warm smile.
As soon as she heard his voice, Victoria smiled and felt better.
" What happened? Why did you call me? Take a rest. I've been noticing that you are running around from the start. Don't just worry about me."
" Talking to you makes me feel better than taking a rest. By the way... Is everything okay? You looked a little sad to me. Did something happen? Tell me. I'll fix it for you."
Victoria was stunned as she didn't expect him to notice her mood even after being away. He had been watching her in this hectic situation.
" Its... Its nothing. Just... "
" Tell me. I'll fix everything. I won't let anything miss out on your wedding."
" My best friend, he is not here. We didn't talk for a whole year when he went abroad. I thought he would at least come to my wedding but I don't think that he will come anymore." Victoria said in a dejected tone. He was quite important to her and his absence will make her feel sad.
Oscar was silent for a while. Probably thinking about what to do.
" Don't worry. It's not like we can go to get him. I... I'll be alright."
" No. I will bring him here. I have a private jet. After receiving the last guest, I'll go with some people and bring him before breakfast."
Victoria was stunned. Oscar would really go to any lengths for her.
" What's his name? Give me his pic if you have one? And do you know where he stays? Don't worry. I'll make sure to bring him here."
" ... No Oscar. You are already so tired. Don't do that for me. I don't like it when you are so worn out just because of me."
" No. You are everything to me. I promised you that I'll make sure you have the best so I can't miss out on such an important thing. I will bring him. You send me the information after we received the guest. I'll hang up now. The last flight has almost descended."
Then before Victoria could protest more, Oscar hung up. She stared at her phone with an inexplicable gaze. What should she do? She wants her friend here but she doesn't like making things hard for Oscar. Maybe she shouldn't have told him. He would not listen to her and surely go to bring him back.
The last round of flights arrived. Again there was a rush. It was 6:30 when the guests started entering the cars to go to the hotel. Meanwhile, everyone was dead tired. They didn't have the energy to talk but still had to.
They were quickly sending everyone to the cars as it was already dinner time. While Mike and her parents were helping the people in the cars, Victoria rested against the pillar as she looked at the entrance one last time. When she didn't see that shadow yet again, a mocking smile formed on her face. She leaned her head back and closed her eyes. She wanted to be in a happy mood. She didn't want to spoil anything just because of her.
Oscar glanced at her while greeting guests. When he saw such a sad smile on her face, his heart broke. He would never let her feel like this. Especially not on her wedding. He would give her the absolute best.
Thud... Thud... Thud...
Victoria heard the voices of footsteps near her. She felt that someone was walking toward her. She tiredly opened her eyes.
A man in black strapped jeans wearing a wine red knee-length leather jacket with a white shirt underneath walked in front of her. He had a Rolex watch in his hand while he was wearing dark red sneakers.
One of his hands was in his jeans and the other was pulling a medium-sized suitcase. His hairs were quite sharp and spiked up. He had transparent but flashy goggles on his face. When he finally arrived in front of Victoria, he took out the goggles and smiled mischievously.
" Hi!"
" Chris?!"
" Yes, it's me. I've been gone for just a year and you are already on the verge of marrying. Did the sun rise from the west today?!"
" Shut up!" Victoria hugged him. She wasn't in the mood to joke around with him. He was always there when she needed someone the most. He was always there in her badest times. She was scared he wouldn't share her happiness but he was there.
" Jerk! I thought you weren't coming!"
" Well! Well! How can I let you go so easily?" Christopher joked around.
" Don't joke with me! If you didn't come, I swear I would've gone to your place and beat the hell out of you!"
" Okay okay. I am sorry. So... Who's the lucky one?" Christopher squinted his eyes as he asked.
" I am the lucky one. He is behind you." Victoria said as she looked at Oscar.
" Oh. You are already so love-struck. Don't tell me your gonna be the lovey-dovey type and stop spending time with your friends once you are married?" Christopher was half teasing and half-serious.
" Yes, I am exactly that type. What can you do?! Now shut up and meet with him! I can't come with you as they don't allow us to meet. Anyway, be sure to take a good rest and be there for me. I missed you, Christopher... "
Christopher smiled and rubbed her head.
" Yeah, sorry I am late." For once, he looked serious.
For Victoria, Christopher was more than a friend to her. He was a big brother, a family, a best friend and someone she could talk to.
