Chapter 66: I Miss Him...

A year after Oscar's disappearance...

Lazlo corporation was still the same as before. Oscar's father managed the company like before. The only difference was since he disappeared, his parents seemed to have aged overnight. Their spirits were always so low. They just keep on living hoping to find their son one day. Waiting for his return.

As for Samuelson Corporation, Mike completely took over it. He was now the CEO. Wick was still the chairman and only interferes when he is needed. Sia and Wick stayed with Victoria as they were very worried about her. 

She stopped smiling and looked lifeless at times. She becomes extremely detached and cold to the world. She would always be silent at home. She never fought with anyone or smiled as before. She would still smile but it was clearly forced. 

She would pretend to live a peaceful life but her life was clearly not peaceful. It was unstable and unreal. 

Victoria had already been through a lot. But whatever happened in her life, it wasn't her fault. She always did her best. She never made any mistakes. She was on top of the game. But now when she made this mess in her life, when she pushed away from something she got for the first time and didn't even realise it until she completely lost it, she was hit hard. 

Despite going through a lot, she didn't really go through something personally. It was always related to others. But this time it was related to her. 

Victoria tiredly opened her eyes. She was laying for 3 hours but never fell back asleep. She got up and went to the bathroom to take a bath. After coming out, she went through her closet and casually changed into a dark blue suit. Then she went down. The breakfast was laid on the table. 

She glanced at it and ignored it. Her parents sat there so she informed them. 

" I am going to work. I am not hungry. I will buy something later."

Then she left. Sia and Wick looked at each other. The fact that she changed was something they couldn't prevent. Moreover, Oscar's incident left them all broken. Mike didn't stop looking even after all this time. 

Victoria had 2 cases in court. She finished her work quickly and went back to the office. She wanted to do all the work in the world but no matter how much more cases she took, they never seem to make her work more than midnight. She sometimes wondered if she got better at her job so that's why it doesn't take her so long anymore.

Without realising, the Victory Law Firm become the best in the city. This was the City Of Law. Being best here basically means being best in the country. No one can defeat her in law.

She went home after midnight. Usually, her parents would be asleep but Sia was awake sitting in the living room. She wanted to talk to her.

" Victoria, are you alright?" Sia asked worriedly.

" Yes, Mom. I am okay."

" Victoria, I sometimes cannot help but think that maybe if I never told you that and you never realised your feelings, it would have been better."

" No Mom. I am glad for what you said that day. It set me straight. I may indeed have realised a bit late but one day, I would. Realising it earlier makes me happy. Had I realised later than that, I would feel like scum. Don't blame yourself. I am really okay."

" Victoria, why don't you try taking a short vacation? Go somewhere and refresh yourself. You may not be happy but at least it would be a change. Whether you work or not, you don't look any different."

" I'll think about that."

" Yeah. You should really take a break."

Victoria stared at the ceiling as she lay on her bed. Her eyes were blank as she kept looking. She actually didn't want to go anywhere. A vacation or anything. She wasn't interested. 

' I Miss Him... '

Victoria's tears almost fell but she turned around on her side and tried to stop them. She barely slept that night.

However, the next day, before she knew it, her mother tricked her into going to Japan. Her father and brother were her accomplices. They said an emergency came with a business partner and sent her there. 

She later understood why they sent her to Japan. Any anime fans out of Japan wish to visit Japan. Moreover, she had planned to tour Japan with Mike before all this happened. After reuniting with her family, she had her own life that kept her busy with various things. 

However, even though she was at her dream place, she wasn't interested in looking around. She was feeling uninterested in everything. She was feeling so empty that even though everything was so beautiful, she was unmoved. 

She went to Japan through a private jet. She was told that she was going to Japan but unexpectedly, she arrived at some island. But it was quite developed. As she stepped out of the Jet, a bodyguard stayed with her. He was also her translator. She barely knew how to say thank you and sorry in Japanese.
