Chapter 42: Victoria Died.

Another hour passed as they waited. They still had no information about Victoria. Everyone was in bad condition. However, Wick got a call from his assistant.

" Sir... I've got the news... " Wick's heart trembled but he wanted to know how his daughter got injured.

" What is it?! Tell me!"

" That sir... How about I come there?! "

" Where are you?"

" I will be there in ten minutes!"

" Okay. Be quick!"

Wick hung up with complicated emotions. From the voice of his assistant, the matter didn't look as simple as an accident. He wondered if their family enemies had anything to do with this. If it was really true, he swore on his family's name that he wouldn't let anyone go unscathed.

Oscar looked at Victoria's family with inexplicable feelings. He wanted to inform them himself in a way that they could take it but he was not in the condition to talk. Wick knew Oscar but he failed to recognise him because he was not in his right state of mind and Oscar was nothing like himself either. Even his family would have a hard time recognising him.

Soon they heard footsteps and Wick's assistant Jenson arrived. He had an inexplicable expression on his face. Seeing the condition Wick's family was in, he really wondered if he should still inform them about the truth. It was too harsh and too much for them to digest. But in the end, he was just an assistant. He needed to obey his boss's orders.

" Jenson! Did you find out what happened?! What happened to my daughter?! How did she end up like this?!" Sia was too flustered as she reacted first. 

Seeing everyone's panicked expressions, Jenson was put in a difficult situation. He took a deep breath and told them.

" Everyone... Please calm down and listen carefully. Sir, Madam, you can't collapse now. Miss Victoria needs you."

Hearing Jenson talk so seriously, his words made them feel that what was coming was not something they could bear.

" Young Miss... Was kidnapped."

Hearing him, a fury never seen before ignited in the family. Sia was so devasted for her daughter and just thinking about what happened makes her shudder.

" Who... Who did this?! What happened to Victoria to be in such a state?!" Sia was so devasted that she asked while crying.

" Is it our enemies?! Who dared lay a finger on the Samuelson family's young mistress!?" Wick was badly enraged as he thought his prediction was right. They crossed the boundaries when they touched Victoria. There would be a blood bath in their city tonight.

Mike just listened with a lifeless expression. As Jenson continued, Oscar closed his eyes as a tear fell off. 

" It wasn't our enemies... It was... It was... " Jenson couldn't bear to say it. 

" Who the hell was it?!! Jenson! Who was it for hell's sake tell me!!!" Wick who never lost his temper totally lost it. 

Jenson's eyes turned red. He wished he wasn't the one to deliver this devastating news to them. He knew what happened between their family. He felt that if something happened to Victoria, they may really end up killing themself with despair.

" It was the Se-Serial... the Serial Killer... " 

As soon as his voice fell, Sia fell down with a thud. The expression on her face was so horrible as if she heard her daughter died. Meanwhile, Wick's expression was blank. It was an expression of strong denial. He was unable to accept it at all.

As for Mike, he was so lifeless that no news was more important to him than his sister's safety. He didn't care whether she was in an accident or schemed against. For now, he only cared about her making it out alive. But when he heard about this, he slipped down the wall he was leaning on. He couldn't describe his feelings. They were so horrible for a moment he wanted to die to escape this reality. 

Ten minutes passed but there was a devastating silence. It was like someone told them that Victoria died. After a long time, Jenson spoke again.

" She was kidnapped early in the evening and rescued near dawn. She has been in operation for 5 and half hours now. The injuries she sustained were... She broke a lot of ribs and her head. Her shoulder was hurt and dislocated. She was stabbed twice in the waist and she bled a lot. Her eyesight and hearing was also affected. And there were a lot of small external injuries... When she was brought in, they barely saved her heart as she had an attack. Then she needed immediate surgery to stop her brain from dying... "

Jenson knew that it was harsh and cruel to tell them all at once. However, killing them once was better than killing them again and again. There he didn't dare to keep it to himself. Moreover, they deserved to and should know about what their daughter went through and what was her condition.

Wick, Sia and Mike were glad she wasn't molested. But that wasn't helping them right now. Because if she didn't survive, they wouldn't be able to live.

In the end, a long time passed but the silence in the lounge was so devastating that no one even breathed. No one noticed Oscar who stood in the corner so silently like he was dead. All they could hear was the tik-tok of their wristwatches. The voice of time that was reminding them that time couldn't be reversed. That what happened couldn't be undone.
