Chapter 57: Victoria Entered The Court.

Hailey and Jan went silent. They didn't know what to say. 

" I promised my parents that I won't do this again and that if I am about to do something like this, I will at least inform them But that's not true. I won't hesitate to do my work again and when I am about to do it, I will only inform them if it doesn't bring them any harm. So basically... I have leid. I will break not hesitate to break that promise when the time comes. And I am ready for whatever punishment I will receive for doing this all. I also think that criminals like Teddy won't arise again after that incident. But even if they did, there are a lot of people who will stand against them and bring them down."

" Who wants to leave, can leave. I really won't mind it."

" Then you will have to take me together with you," Jan said with a stern look.

Victoria was surprised. She was very willing to risk her life but not others.

" What are you talking about?! I can't... "

" No. You have to. We shall all be involved in the operation if such time comes again. And you should swear on our lives that you won't break this promise."

Victoria was in a predicament. She didn't want or expected this to happen. She could bear it when she hurt their emotion but she wouldn't be able to bear it had she hurt them like that.

" No. I can't do that!"

" You will have to. Otherwise, I swear I will do something crazy!"

Victoria was conflicted. After a long time, she finally agreed.

They went back to the office. Hailey hurriedly went to look for her case. She was having a hard time as they lacked evidence. She had the final court session after the lunch break and she was unable to do much. 

At lunchtime, Victoria came to call her. But Hailey said she didn't have an appetite. Victoria forcefully took them to lunch. After they finished eating, Victoria said to Hailey.

" Give me the file. I'll take care of this case. Don't worry. I won't let a culprit like that walk away." 

Everyone was surprised. She just came and she didn't even read the files but she was saying that she will fight and win this case so confidently. 

" Sis, are you sure? This case lacks evidence. Jan has tried hard to find it but we didn't get any crucial evidence. You don't know anything about it... "

" Calm down. You are panicking. Hailey, do you still remember what I thought you?"

" W-What?" Hailey couldn't understand what Victoria was saying. 

" When we lack the basic evidence, we will get the most crucial evidence that cannot be denied no matter what. What's that crucial evidence? It is... " Victoria looked up with passionate and determinate eyes. 

" ...To make the culprit confess!" Victoria had a villainess smile on her face. They all shuddered and recalled who Victoria was. 

Maybe because her appearance and temperament changed a little, they forgot how evil and ruthless she can be in the court. That was right. Victoria was so good at her work that she makes the culprit confess before they can realise. That's why the culprit's lawyers always avoided a direct testimony when they are facing Victoria in the opposition. 

She makes the culprit feel that if he doesn't confess, he will land in greater trouble. That causes the coward criminals to confess to their crimes. Hailey was still nervous though. After all, if something goes wrong then she will feel responsible.

Victoria drove her car to the court with Hailey. Meanwhile, all the others in their team were coming too. It has almost been 3 years since Victoria didn't step into the court. She was not nervous because she can't afford to be. The world stopped thinking about it but no one forgot her. She was the pinnacle of the court when she is inside it. Nothing can defeat her other than the truth itself. 

Of course, she changed her attire slightly. Instead of a red blazer, Victoria choose to wear a black and white checkered blazer. She always had clothes in her office as she often stays overnight. 

As Victoria entered the court, everyone looked at her. She was a new face and very beautiful so she attracted everyone's attention. Of course, many had felt she looked familiar but no one recognised her. They knew Hailey but not her. However, her unique temperament and beauty were enough to draw everyone's attention.

Victoria leisurely walked in with Hailey. She arrived right on time. As they went to their designated seats, the other members of their team also arrived. Half of the court was already filled with citizens. There were still more to arrive. There were also journalists and some law students who came to study. This case was in the news so everyone paid attention to it. 

Meanwhile, some of the lawyers also came to get some experience and learn something from this case. Everyone was very curious about who was going to win. It looked like the culprit will walk free. Everyone knew that he was the culprit but because of the lack of evidence, they would be forced to let them go.

When Hailey and Victoria walked in, everyone looked at them. Hailey was the lawyer of this case and she was from the Victory law firm which was one of the most renowned law firms in this city. It was also very famous because it was founded by Victory who was a well-known lawyer all around the country and also someone who risked her life to save others. 

Victoria never wanted to let others know of her bravery. She did all she did because she wanted to. She never wanted fame and neither did she like being called a saint because reality proves that she wasn't. Her decision always hurts someone. 

She was glad that her face wasn't exposed. Otherwise, she would have a hard time. Of course, the people who worked in the law field know her face because they occasionally fight against her or attend her sessions but no one can expose her face to the public. If someone tries it, Victoria warns them to take it down or she will sue them.

Jan, Meg, Eren and Alexa sat down. A lot more people came and sat down. The courtroom was almost full. The opposing party also came down along with the culprit who dressed flashily without an ounce of remorse on his face. After all, he was confident about winning. He was even held captive. 

Hailey and Victoria talked about the case in detail in the car. Victoria also read all the documents about the case. She also read about the previous sessions of this case and how the culprit denied the evidence. She smiled mockingly at that. She talked with Hailey for a moment before Hailey went to her legal assistant. They hired some staff after Victoria was gone. After all, they weren't as good as Victoria to win all by themselves. 

The legal assistant was a newbie to the field. When Hailey suddenly came and told him to leave and that she will take over his work, he didn't understand what was going on. 

Hailey sat down in the legal assistant's place while Victoria took her documents and walked to the lawyer's place. Slowly, she sat down. Then she glanced beside her where the victim should have been and her eyes dimmed. 

She looked up and stared right at the culprit. She was expressionless. She just looked at him but her eyes were so fierce that it sent a chill down everyone. Everyone was shocked to see an unknown person sitting in the lawyer's seat and the actual lawyer of the case sitting in the legal assistant's place. Hailey had never sat in that position other than when she was assisting Victoria. 

Victoria may seem to have changed. However, her roots can never be changed. She has changed. But a lot about her remains exactly the same as before. When she heard from Hailey that the victim didn't survive and because of that they didn't have her testimony, that it was the biggest downfall of this case, Victoria changed back to herself. 

She no longer felt like a changed person but back to that old Victoria who didn't smile and destroys her enemy no matter what. Victoria worked hard and was desperate to bring the culprit down no matter what. That's what caused her to never lose. Because she was really desperate and stopped at nothing to bring the culprit to his grave.
