Oscar was stunned and halted in his movements. Then he reflexively hid behind his wounded hand. And that didn't escape Victoria's eyes.

Oscar was confused seeing such a serious expression on Victoria's face. He asked her worryingly.

" What's wrong? Did something... " Before he could finish his sentence, Victoria came forward and walked up to him. He instinctively step backwards as he felt he would be exposed but before he knew it she was in front of him.

Victoria stared at him without a word. That stunned Oscar as he noticed a slight upsetness in her eyes. He wondered why she was upset and behaving like this when Victoria finally moved again.

Wordlessly, her hands went behind him. At first, it looked like she was hugging him, but Oscar's stiffened body froze when she grabbed his hands.

Victoria brought his hand in front and searched for his wound which she found rather quickly as it was apparent. It was a little deep and would sting a lot for that day. Seeing the bloody wound, an inexplicable look flashed in her eyes which made Oscar feel bad.

He wanted to say something but couldn't speak. Victoria didn't look at him in the eyes and just took him to the wash basin. Oscar silently followed her behind. She put his hand in the water as it washed away the blood.

Victoria looked at his hand in water in a daze while Oscar secretly peeked at her. When she came back to her senses, she brought his hand back. She observed his wound for a moment to make sure that blood ain't flowing anymore and only then did she bring him back to the bedroom.

After making him sit down on a sofa in their bedroom, she brought the first aid kit and sat beside him. She took out the needed things and then gently cleaned his wound with antiseptic less it gets infected. Then she took out an ointment and applied it to his wound. And finally, at last, she carefully wrapped the band-aid around his cut finger.

During all this process, it was too silent. No one talked. Oscar just looked at her all this while but Victoria didn't even glance at him once. He understood that she was upset with him. He thought she won't look at him even after done with the treatment but then, after wrapping the band-aid around him, she finally looked at him.

Her eyes were still the same as before with a look of hurt in them. Oscar looked back at her with guilt. He was guilty about nothing else but hurting her. Not the cause or anything.

" I am sorry." He told her sincerely.

" You don't look sorry for hiding your wound. You look sorry for me getting upset."

Oscar couldn't retort it as it was the truth.

" Well, it was nothing serious so... "

" I know! I know it's a small wound and nothing to make a big deal out of. I also know you don't even consider it as an injury. Last night... I noticed the scars on your body. How did you get them?"

Hearing her words, Oscar's eyes darkened. They were dark with anger and pain. He turned his body towards her and held her face in his palms. His eyes despite all his efforts looked red.

" Scars? They were nothing at all. Did you... Did you even notice yours?! They were so worse than mine... " He had hidden pain in his eyes as he said then.

Victoria had several ugly scars. Just that incident from the serial killer made up most of her scars. And then the operation for that just added more scars. But Oscar was so careful about her every scar that he noticed which scars were older and from before. Most of those scars were normal but she had one big deep scar on her back

Victoria was stunned. She didn't know Oscar noticed them in all that situation last night. But well, she also noticed them. She was too tired so she fell asleep but Oscar didn't. After seeing her scars, he was so disturbed that he didn't sleep peacefully the whole night.

Oscar looked at her with an inexplicable gaze as he spoke.

" Victoria, all my life, I never expected to be gifted with a life partner that I would actually be able to love. But even after this all, god has gifted me you and I can't begin expressing how great it makes me feel. I would do anything to repay my gratitude to god and if a day might come when I could do something for god, I swore I won't hesitate to repay him though I can't actually ever repay him for all he has done for me. I didn't say this to anyone but I've actually read a lot of holy books from different religions. I still am not sure which religion is true but I do believe that god exists. And in several books, I've read a lot about how women are treated or should be treated.

In one great book, they said that women are to be treasured. They are not meant for wars and bloodshed. It's the men's duty. Women should only protect themselves from sin and desires that destroy themselves. But God has signified several times that it doesn't mean that women are weak at all. He rather said that there ain't any men stronger than women.

The way women can believe in things, the way they can love, and the way they can fight for their beloved is incomparable to anyone else. The pain the suffer through all their life just to give birth one day and even after giving birth they never despise or feel anything bad towards their children for whom they went through this inexplicable pain and even love them hundred times more than the pain, a man can never ever do that. Women are so admirable and lovable creatures.

They are beloved creatures of God. I said this all to signify that this is what I feel towards you. I never put my attention on other women because you are enough for me. You are more than enough for me. I think I can live forever with you. That's why, when someone who is to be treasured to no end, who should be protected from every single harm and live a peaceful life devoid of any bad influence is more harmed and has more scars than the person who is supposed to protect them makes me feel so bad.

It's inhumane to see a woman so battered. Every single scar of yours hurts me. It stings my eyes and makes me feel miserable that I wasn't there to protect you. Even when you were hurt by that scum, I reached you too late. You protected everyone yourself and you have gotten hurt all you can. I could prevent a single injury of yours. I was downright useless. I reached you too late and I could never forgive myself for letting you get hurt... "
