Chapter 40: She Is In Danger!

Victoria heard someone's voice. She saw a blurry figure. She didn't know who it was. However, hearing the tone of begging in his voice, she wanted to reply. She was in so much pain she could not see but because of that voice, she blinked her eyes to show that she was alive. She also opened her mouth but the words just didn't seem to come out. With all she had, she barely whispered.

" I-I am okay... " Instead of saying something else, these words of comfort flew out of her mouth.

Oscar was so scared he was in the worst condition ever. He dared not touch her because he feared knowing she is not okay. He just sat there looking like a lost soul, staring at her pleading with his desperate eyes, praying nothing but for her to be okay. That's when he saw her blink her eyes. He was shocked. Then he got so scared thinking he was starting to hallucinate. 

When he could not understand anything and his mind was going crazy, a very soft whisper was heard.

" I-I am okay... "

His eyes went wide as tears run out faster than ever. He quickly hugged her but not so harshly as to hurt her. She was full of blood and wounds he couldn't see where she was exactly hurt. 

" I-I am sorry! I am sorry! I should have found you earlier! I-I shouldn't have lost you right in front of my eyes! I am sorry... I am really sorry... "

Victoria couldn't respond in any way. However, she felt his love. She wondered who it was that loves her so much? The voice doesn't sound like her family.  But the way he was broking down somehow makes her sad. 

Oscar came back to his senses. He knew it wasn't time for this. She needed to be hospitalized immediately. He was glad he had prepared the ambulances beforehand. Tough he wished they wouldn't come to use. 

Levi reached there fast. He runs his fastest without caring about anything. They entered the door as it was not hidden anymore. as soon as he entered the basement, he saw all the victims. As soon as he saw Alice, for a moment he was excited and happy, but it quickly vanished into thin air when he saw how bad she looked. He really couldn't recognise her anymore.

Levi quickly picked her up in his arms and said with a barely clear voice.

" Deputy Chief, can I leave this to you?"

" Of Course Chief! Please take Lieutenant to the ambulance quickly." The other subordinates and Oscar's people also helped out and quickly transferred them to the ambulance. 

As Levi was about to go, the woman Victoria rescued first said.

" Excuse me, there is one more person. She is downstairs. She rescued us all. She was badly injured. A man came earlier and... " Before she could speak further, they heard footsteps and Oscar come out holding Victoria in his arms. Seeing his condition, Levi thought for a moment she is dead. 

Seeing the condition Victoria was in, even his eyes contracted. She must be going through hell right now. The pain, he couldn't even imagine it. 

Two of Oscar's subordinates came forwards while the others helped the victims. OScar quickly but gently carried Victoria to the ambulance. Victoria's head was heading on his chest and she didn't have any strength. 

Finally, Oscar put her down. They quickly started giving her emergency treatment. While the other ambulances also took off. They weren't in shortage as they came prepared.

Victoria was instantly put on anaesthesia. Anyone could tell that the pain would kill her. As soon as her pain decreased enough to faint, Victoria fainted. However, before that, she requested in a barely audible voice to make sure Rosie is okay because she was indebted to her. 

While on the way, Oscar asked them about her condition when they finished the emergency procedure. 

" She is in danger. We can't say anything yet." 

Hearing that, Oscar had cold sweats running down. He felt so helpless not knowing what to do. He wished he could do something. 

He felt really pathetic. Like the most pathetic man alive. He literally let the serial killer take her from right in front of his eyes. If only he had been stronger. If only he had protected her then the situation wouldn't have come to this.
