Chapter 61: He Deserves A Chance.

Victoria started her bullet and raced. Mike looked at the familiar back and smiled as he also raced. They first went to a safe road where they can race and then, they got started. Taking over each other and competing. 

They both laughed as they finally stopped. After a long time, Victoria laughed so freely and heartily. Mike felt that his sister is finally back. He was glad. They stopped by a cafe. It was a famous 24 hours cafe where a lot of people stop by. 

The brother and sister walked in with their helmets. They were so cool that everyone looked at them. Victoria as always, wanted a cold coffee while Mike wanted a hot one because it was cold. Victoria only drinks milk coffee whether cold or hot. Moreover, she couldn't drink without sugar. Therefore, her coffee would always be sweet. As for Mike, he also usually drank the milk coffees. 

Mike went to pick up the coffee and came back. He gave Victoria hers and saw as she put 2-3 bags of sugar in it. He smiled and said.

" You're taste has still not changed."

" Yeah. This is probably the one thing that will never change no matter what." Victoria smiled as she continued mixing the coffee.

Mike stared at her silently. Finally, he spoke.

" Sis. I... I wanted to apologise for what happened before you left. I realised too late how selfish I was being."

" Mike, I told you to not talk about that. Everyone knows who was wrong at that time. A lot was going on at that time which shook up my mind. I just wanted to escape from there and later I was too ashamed to return. I know no matter what, I shouldn't have done that."

Mike couldn't speak anymore. 

" But... But still, as your brother, I should have at least helped you when you were going through a hard time."

" It's okay Mike. Really. A perfect relationship between siblings doesn't exist. No matter how much we love each other, we still end up fighting each other."

" Yeah. That's true."

" Yeah so let's not fight anymore. We are way past the age."

" Hahaha. Let's do that sis."

" Oh right. Mike... I wanted to ask you something."

" What is it?"

" Do you know everything about... Oscar?"

" ... Yeah. Why do you ask?"

" I was just curious. What is going on with him?"

Mike stared at Victoria for a while and said. 

" As you know Sis, he has been taking care of you alongside us. Dad usually had to go to the city because of matters at the company and I went with him. But Oscar and Mom rarely ever left you. However, he always went to the city in the morning after a week but he would be back in 4-5 hours." 

Victoria didn't say anything. She was in deep thoughts. Finally, she asked.

" Mike, as you've heard, I hate men. But I know very well that it's not right to do so. Not every man is bad after all. That's why all these years I've never dated anyone. I kept my distance from them. However, after hearing everything about Oscar, I feel like I am being too cruel to him. Mike... What do you think about him?"

Mike silently thought for a while and then spoke.

" Sis, to be honest, when that incident happened, everyone was broken. I still remember how mom and dad looked lifeless. We all wished to do nothing. We lost our senses. When we waited in the hospital for weeks, Oscar also stayed there. 

From the moment we arrived, to until the end, he was always there. He looked like how mom was looking in that situation. However, he still tried his best and took care of our family in his way. He went to great lengths to do everything he could for you.

When you were transferred to the town, he was the one who arranged everything. Although mom would dose off because she got weak after that, he would force himself to stay awake and be with you all the time.

 Mom and Oscar never left you alone. Either one would always be there. Usually, they both stayed there. At first, I felt a bit wary of him. But slowly, I began to accept him. Mom treated him like a son and I treated him like a brother in my heart. We didn't talk much. When I visited you and he was in your room, he always looked so sad. He looked guilty. I don't know why but it seems like he blamed himself for what happened to you.

 At that moment, I felt how much he cared for you. The most simple thing that I can say to you is that Sis... No one will love you as much as he does. He is the best man for you. He will treasure you. He will make you happy and I am sure he would protect you the best... I think he deserves a chance. Don't you think so?"

Victoria went silent. She thought about Oscar. She knew very little about him. She didn't meet him much. The day he came to her office was the only day when she actually met him. The other times could not even be considered as meeting him.

" Sis, do you also like him?"

" ...I don't know Mike. Rather than like, I think I am just grateful to him. But it makes me feel guilty and bothers me how he shut him off. But I didn't want to give him false hope or anything."

" Sis, I think you should meet him again. You should at least end things on good terms to move on. For both of you." Though I doubt him ever moving on from you sis... Mike thought subconsciously.

" But I don't know where he is."

" He is the young master of the Lazlo Corporation. I am sure we can find him. I will tell you if I know where he is."

" Okay. Thanks."

" Let's go. It will be sunrise soon."

" Yeah."

Victoria and Mike sat on their bullets. Mike commented to her. 

" You have gotten better at riding bikes, Sis."

" Hehe. I like it after all."

Mike wore his helmet while Victoria aslo picked up hers. Before putting it on, she said.

" Mike, you are a great brother." Then she wore the helmet and vroomed on. 

Mike was stunned then his eyes warmed as he smiled. He quickly started the bike and raced after her. They enjoyed it a lot as they finally raced all the way home.

As they got off, Victoria expressed.

" It was so fun. I missed it."

" Don't worry Sis. A lot more is yet to come."

" Well, I will be anticipating it then."

" Ok let's go in then. Mom will be awake anytime soon."

Victoria and Mike silently went inside the house while making sure to not make noises. They finally entered the hall and went towards the stairs. But suddenly, they froze.

" Oops!" Victoria exclaimed.

Mike was shocked and took a step back. He was done for.

" Mom!" 

Sia was standing there looking at them. It looked like she was awake for a while. She also looked infuriated.

" Do you guys know what time it is?!" She asked them.

" I am sorry Mom!" They both apologised together.

" You shut up Mike! Your sister is still recovering. How could you be so reckless?! And Victoria, I told you to be careful about your health now? And what? You both went on a bike ride in the middle of the night! Go to sleep now. I will wake you up at 10."

" M-Mom... I have office... "

" Go now. I don't care about your office."

" Okay."

Victoria quickly runs off leaving Mike alone. Mike looked at her back angrily and made up his mind to confront her later. Mike was spared after a little scolding. That was only thanks to Victoria because she looked refreshed and happy. That's why Sia let him off.
