Chapter 22: Serial Killer!

For some days, she couldn't detect any traces of him. However, one day, she went out to a restaurant as Briana and Arriana invited her out. They wanted to thank her for her help. She drunk a little there. When she came back, she noticed a car standing in the area near her house which looks familiar. She seems to have seen it before.

However, her mind was hazy because of alcohol. She ignored it and went back. Once in a while, she noticed that car standing there. Later, she got suspicious and asked Jan to investigate it. In no time, Jan discovered that it was Oscar and reported to Victoria.

Victoria was shocked when she first received the news. She was also furious at him and she also knew that it would be impossible to know that it was him unless he wanted to. That means he deliberately let Jan find out that it was him.  

After that, she would find his car everywhere. It was as if he was deliberately trying to show her. He was literally a stalker. Victoria being herself couldn't ignore it anymore. However, after that, she didn't get a chance to face him head-on.

On one fine afternoon, she was sitting on the chair in her office working on some documents when Hailey rushed in. It was the first time that Hailey didn't knock and her face was panic-stricken. She was sweating and couldn't talk properly. Seeing her like this, Victoria knew something deadly must have happened cuz she wasn't the one to lose her cool.

Victoria got up and grabbed her shoulders tightly. She stared at Hailey's eyes and asked in a bit louder voice.

" What happened?!"

" See... See news!"

Victoria went out in the corridor and opened the Television in the hall. She opened the news channel. All it show was just horrible. Simply f****ing horrible. Terrific...

[ Reporter: We have found XX dead bodies of females between 14-30 years. They were all ordinary people with ordinary identities. Some were high schoolers and some were office workers. There were many. They have been brutally raped and murdered. Their dead bodies were found below the abandoned bridge in the outskirts of the city. Almost no one lives there. An old man passing by felt something wrong and called the police. After investigating, the police found out that this incident have many similarities to the incident that took place in the neighbouring country. Female Citizens of that country were also killed brutally in the same way. Even their corpses were left so badly that one couldn't look at it. Higher-ups and police chief is working day and night to protect the citizens. They are trying really hard to arrest this serial killer. They kindly recommend females be very careful and take care. They will be on patrol every night. Please help and cooperate they said.]

Victoria give her everything to save one of her clients or rather one woman from evil but now, it was like evil was haunting her back. Until now, she was doing great. She won every single one of her cases. However, this was the first time she faced something like this. She thought that criminals like Ted Bundy, Green River killer, etc. would be born again but it seems like that was just wishful thinking. This one was no less than them. They were all simply disgusting. So disgusting so disgusting so disgusting...

" Thud!" Victoria broke the tv and throwing her phone towards it. Hailey was also scared. Victoria looked at Hailey and told her. You and Jan live together until he is not arrested. Call Jan and tell her to instantly come back. Tell her to leave the investigation for now."

" O-Okay!"

Hailey called Jan and told her to rush over as soon as possible. Victoria locked herself in the room while Hailey anxiously waited for Jan. The whole city was on alert because the criminal was said to be here. After some time, Jan reached here.

Victoria got out when she heard the voices. They all sat on the sofa. Victoria told them.

" Jan, I want you to live with Hailey until everything settles down. If necessary, you both can live here in the office. As for the criminal, be sure to take some defence tools with you. I don't want you to go out until it's necessary. Hailey put every case that could be delayed on hold. Inform the victims about the emergency. And then, both of you work together to recruit lawyers who are genuinely willing to fight for others. I wholely want to focus on this case because it is really severe and dangerous. I want other's to take care of things that I can't right now. Please do it as fast as possible. I will go and investigate with police and detectives!" 

Before Jan and Hailey could reply, Victoria was already gone. They knew she was more than just that but they were worried about her. In the end, she wasn't a god and couldn't really protect herself.  Moreover, she went out alone.

Oscar kept observing Victoria for a long time. He deliberately let himself be founded and hoped she would come and confront him. However, she didn't. Therefore, he thought he would come out and meet her himself. He stood outside with his back resting on his car. Just then, he saw Victoria walking out. She looked different. She wasn't herself. 

As she was going away, Oscar stopped her. Just as he was going to say something, she looked up and stared at him with cold and burning eyes. He couldn't speak anymore. Then she said.

" If you come in my sight ever again, I will finish you." The hatred she had in her eyes was so scary. Oscar felt as if all his hope was being drained in the gutter in front of him. There wasn't an ounce of any other feelings in her eyes other than hatred.

He stood there stunned and frozen as she drove away in her car. The Car went past him leaving dust behind. She didn't even look at him as if he was invisible...
