The pain that could kill her didn't ever come. But the smell of blood flows all over. After a few seconds, Victoria's eyelashes fluttered as she opened her eyes. What she saw was...
The confusion in her eyes vanished. Teddy was also shocked. Then he looked up at Victoria. He thought he already saw the worst look in her eyes that scared him. But he was wrong. He was really wrong this time.
Despair conquered Victoria for she involved Rosie with her. Had she freed Rosie, she wouldn't be able to move and get hurt. After ten whole seconds, Victoria's eyes travelled through the blood and arrived at the Wrench covered in blood. As it followed the hand holding the wrench, she looked into his eyes.
Teddy shivered and subconsciously took a step back like how a deer felt the eyes of prey and become alert. Until now, Victoria had that mad look in her eyes with various emotions going through her mind. But now, she went totally blank. All that she could see and think about was what was in front of her. Those eerily blank eyes looked scarier than anything to Teddy. They were like the eyes of a beast in a dark cave.
' She shouldn't have been hurt. He was not supposed to touch her. She was not going to die. I was... protecting her. I... I will kill him!'
Suddenly, in an instant Victoria grabbed whatever she could and ran towards teddy at her fastest. Unfortunately, Teddy left the tools open and Victoria picked up a small hammer. She wrung it towards him with everything she had. Teddy tried to defend but he was too late. Victoria really went berserk this time.
He was hit on his right side of the waist. A black bruise instantly appeared there. He screamed in pain and anger. Victoria didn't stop. She continuously swung at him. Seeing that, he got cold sweat as he quickly grabbed the screwdriver beside him and put it in front to defend himself.
He thought he was safe but he was wrong. Until now, Victoria was fighting to save everyone but now she lost her senses and just wanted to kill him without caring about the consequences. The consequences involved... her life.
Victoria didn't stop. She didn't dodge. The thin screwdriver mercilessly slipped past into her stomach. She was already in so much pain that she was numb. Teddy lay on the ground frozen as he saw the coming hammer. This time it hit him right in the head. He tried to dodge so the impact was a little less. Blood flowed down as he felt his world-shaking. In the blurriness, he saw it coming again and that scared the shit out of him. He picked up the wrench he dropped and aimlessly swung it.
Victoria was defenceless or rather she didn't care about defending anymore. She was first hit on her hip. Teddy was so scared that he hit aimlessly and continuously because he felt that death was on his doorsteps.
On the second hit, Victoria's waist was damaged. Her ribs broke and a bruise appeared which turned from red to black. However, he didn't stop. Next, he hit her on the shoulder so badly it got dislocated. The hammer fell from her hands as she fell to her knees. Then the last hit was on the right side of her head.
At that moment Victoria knew she was going to die. Her world banged as blood flowed out of her ears and then her head. as she fell forward, she tried to stay up with her hands. The blood flowed down and entered her eyes. Her sight went dark. Finally, she couldn't hold up anymore and fell down.
Teddy breathed heavily as he was still scared shitless. While Victoria blinked her eyes to get a clear vision but it was to no avail. Tears merged with her blood as they fell down. She worked so hard so that she would not have any regrets anymore. But even after it all, here she was, on her last breaths and all that flashed in front of her was her regrets.
She remembered the time she spent with that girl. That late-night delicious ice cream. She remembered her family. Her mother loved her so much. Her younger brother she always fought with. Her father was cold but always protected her from behind. The days they spent together. How they laughed while eating dinner. How they created unforgettable memories together.
What prickled her the most in those last moments was Rosie and all those around her. She wished she could save them. She failed badly. If only she hadn't encouraged Rosie to take action. She owed her life to Rosie. It was she who was supposed to die but now Rosie was on her death bed.
' Sorry... '
In all those fuzzy memories, somewhere in between, Oscar also came to her mind. Then she lost her consciousness.
Meanwhile, in the woods, Oscar was practically running. He had pretty much travelled at least half of the woods. It took him 3 hours just to reach half of the woods. It has been 9 hours since Victoria was gone and every passing second was makin Oscar anxious. He was almost at the brink of having a panic attack. If it wasn't for finding Victoria, he wouldn't be able to stay this strong.
He took out his night goggles. Finally, he found a plain space. At first, he was excited but then his eyes dimmed as he saw there was nothing. However, this place still gave him a very bad feeling. He kept looking over and over again desperately but he found nothing.
In helplessness, he moved slowly looking for the slightest clue he could find. There was nothing. But then, he saw a piece of wood. There were a lot and no one would notice it. But Oscar noticed it because it wasn't a normal piece of wood. The others were all woods that fell from trees or something like that. But that piece was a manufactured wood though it was very old. Still, there was nothing odd or special about that but Oscar felt like something was pulling him towards it. He quickly walked towards there.
He quickly picked up the wood. As he turned around, he saw some scratchily written words on it.
" Message, SK, Save. 2"
Oscar's eyes instantly went red. With a trembling hand, he took out the walkie talkie and said.
" Oscar to Chief." He couldn't call Levi by his name because of confidentiality reasons. So he called by rank. Soon he heard back.
" Chief to Oscar."
" Received a hint! Message, SK, Save.2"
Hearing that, Levi froze. Hope ignited in his eyes. They stopped everything and tracked down Oscar as everyone gathered there. Oscar didn't wait for them anymore. He was more anxious than ever. He knew there must be something somewhere around there. As he got too anxious, he wasted 5 minutes. But quickly he calmed down and bent down towards where he got the wood.
Oscar looked at the wood. It looked like it was freshly written. He vaguely smelled the fragrance of Victoria on it. He didn't know why but he felt that it was Victoria who left this message here. Oscar put his hand on the ground and swept away the leaves. Still, he found nothing. Oscar couldn't find anything. He got frustrated. Then he saw a steady wood stick and picked it up.
He banged that stick on the ground. At first, he didn't feel anything. But as he banged it around, finally at one place he felt it. He threw the stick and hit his leg there. He felt it more clearly. He didn't get the same feeling when he hit the ground.
Quickly he bent down and swept away all the leaves and mud there. His fingers got a little scratched too.
Oscar saw something woodlike there. He took out a knife he brought and pierced it through the wood. The wood came out easily and Oscar saw that window.
Teddy covered up the window before he brought them to the other basement. He always do so. Seeing that window, Oscar was emotional. He couldn't see anything because of the dark so he took out the torch. He couldn't see much from there but he saw that the basement was empty. However, he didn't give up and he knew Victoria was near.
Oscar was feeling very anxious as the window was too small for even a kid to pass through. Moreover, he couldn't see any clue about the door. He banged all the ground but there was only the window. For a moment he thought about digging it up but it would take a lot of time to do himself and others were not there yet.
While he was in despair thinking about how to save her, he suddenly recalled that while he was searching, somewhere near here he saw a particularly huge tree that was cut down. There were a lot of woods around that tree. Oscar felt that there was something fishy about that now that he recalled. Those sprawled woods didn't look like they were cut by a woodcutter. It felt like they were there for a long time in different shapes.
Oscar quickly searched for that place. It was really near this empty space which was too suspicious. That was the only half cut tree on that path. Oscar found it soon.
