Chris was in the living room watching a movie. Dodger was asleep with his head on Chris's lap. He immediately jerked up and looked towards the direction of the hallway. "Who's coming, bubba?" Chris ran his fingers underneath Dodger's ears.

A second later, Chris's daughter walked into the living room. Her eyes scanned around the room. "Umm, dad, where's mom?"

"She's out for the day with her sisters. She said we weren't allowed to tag along because she's doing some holiday shopping for you and me," Chris rolled his eyes, the inner kid in him was upset he couldn't tag along to see what his gifts would be. "Did you want to do something?" He asked. "It's a beautiful day. We could go to the d-o-g-p-a-r-k," he chuckled, knowing if he uttered those words Dodger would run straight to the door all excited and ready to go.

"Umm, no thanks. I just needed mom, but I'll wait," she turned on her heel, ready to go back to her room.

"No, wait, baby," Chris got up, Dodger groaning in the process of losing his comfortable position. He grabbed her arm, stopping her from walking away from her. She turned around to face him, but she looked down at the floor. "Hey, what's wrong?" He cupped her cheek.

She sniffled. "Nothing. I just kind of need mom for this sort of thing and I need to go to the store with her."

Chris's eyebrows furrowed together. "Honey, you know you can talk to me about anything. I won't get mad or upset. I want you to feel comfortable talking to me about anything. I'm your dad."

His daughter could see the slight hurt in his eyes. Chris had always been supportive, gone above and beyond for his daughter. Although she knew she count on her dad, she wasn't sure exactly how much he could help her with her new "friend" that came for a visit. Deep down, she knew she needed Y/N, but she didn't know how long her mom would be out shopping.

She took a deep breath and said, "my special" - she emphasized - "aunt came for her monthly visit."

Chris looked even more confused than just seconds ago. "Your aunts are with your mom... is there another aunt I don't know about?"

The daughter sighed. "Aunt Flow, dad."

"Who's Flow?"

"Oh my god, dad! My period! I got my period okay!!!" She headed for the stairs.

Chris stood frozen for a second as the words finally registered. He quickly snapped out of it and chased his daughter up the stairs. "Sweetheart! Wait."

She stopped just before opening her bedroom door. She slowly turned around and Chris' heart sank as her eyes welled up with tears. He slowly walked towards and embraced her with a tight hug. She gladly accepted his hug and tightened her arms around him.

"I don't want to be a woman yet, daddy," she sniffled.

Chris' eyes welled up because his baby girl isn't so little anymore. She was right. She was now on the way to becoming a young woman. It seems just like yesterday, he held her in his arms for the first time and she immediately grasped his finger in her hand. Chris promised then he would always be there for her to hold her hand. He hasn't broken his promise since then and he doesn't plan on breaking it while he's still alive.
