Y/N came home and froze to see a vase of roses was waiting for her on the kitchen island. A card leaned against the vase of long stem roses. Her name was written in black cursive. Her roommate must've put them there when she was out to the gym. She leaned in and took in the beautiful scent of the red roses. She bit her bottom lip and wondered who they were from. She wasn't seeing anyone, but her ex-boyfriend did cross her mind. He had been trying to win her back since she broke up after she caught him cheating.
"Ugh," she groaned. "They better not be from Trevor." She opened the card to see the written message:
I love your warm smile,
and your kind, thoughtful ways.
I love the joy that you bring
to my life everyday.
Love always,
ChrisY/N's jaw dropped. Her heart dropped to her stomach. Never in a million years did she think her best friend would not only get her a beautiful vase of red roses, but ask write a love note on the card. She had no idea he felt that way.
A knock at the door startled her causing her to jump out of her skin. She put the card down and walk to the door. She opened the door to see Chris with a huge smile. He let himself in. "I guess you're not ready." Y/N looked at him confused as she was still trying to process his love note. He pointed at her outfit. "You're still in your workout clothes. We plan to get dinner tonight... Remember?" He asked as he realized she was confused.
"Right! Sorry," she immediately apologized. "I got distracted by your flowers and-"
"My flowers?" Chris eyebrows furrowed together. "What flowers?" He followed her to the kitchen to see the vase of roses she was talking about. "Those are nice. Who sent you those? Because they're not from me."
She looked at him completely confused. "Yes, you did." She handed him the card.
Chris took the card and read it. His eyes grew wide as the memory came back to him. Last night was Valentine's Day and truthfully, he hated that he was spending the holiday alone again. So, he decided to have a beer, which led to 8 beers when he decided to drunkenly order roses for Y/N. When he woke up this morning, he thought it was a dream. He held in his hand proof that it wasn't. He let out a sigh, knowing there was no way he can get himself out of this with any bullshit lies.
"Well, that card was meant to be anonymous, but I panicked at the last minute and signed my name without thinking," he started to explain. "I may have had one too many beers and decided to order you flowers. I was so drunk. I thought it was a dream."
"Considering the card you just gave me, that might be the least romantic thing you've ever said to me."
He bit his bottom lip and shifted his weight from one foot to the other. "I might have been drunk when I wrote the card, but I meant what I said."
"You did?" She whispered. "Because, Chris, I'm in love with you, and if this is some drunken accident or stupid prank, I don't think I could ever forgive you."
Chris walked up to her. He cupped hee cheeks gently as he gazed into her eyes. She gave him no signal for him to stop. In fact, she couldn't help but look at his lips, and that was all Chris needed to lean in and kiss her. He kissed her gently and lightly. Y/N's lips moved in perfect sync with his, causing the butterflies to release and flutter in his stomach. She flushed her body against his and wrapped her arms around his neck as she sunk into the kiss. Chris deepened the kiss, intertwining his tongue with hers. The kiss grew hotter and passionate. Chris' fingers were now in her hair. She moaned against his mouth. His hands slid down her body, enjoying every curve before his hands rested under her butt. He lifted her up and sat her on the kitchen island. They pulled apart as they heard glass shattering against the tile floor. They looked down to see the vase broken.
"Shit," Chris mumbled under his breath. "I'm so sorry-"
Y/N bursted out laughing. "The flowers are a sweet gesture, but I ain't sorry," she said before she leaned in to kiss him once more. This time, it wasn't hot and heavy. It was sweet and soft. "Let's clean this up. Well stay in and order some pizza."
"That sounds perfect," Chris smiled.
