Day 16 of Fic-mas: Bring a fake date

Y/N looked around her. There were several people walking up and down the street. Most of them were paired up, which wouldn't do her any good. Until she saw a tall man standing a few feet away from a bar's entrance on his cell phone. He wore a pair of dark jeans and a white cable knit sweater underneath a black leather jacket. What stood out was his NASA baseball cap.

"Perfect," she mumbled to herself as she quickly walked towards him. As she got closer, she noticed how tall he was. He hung up a second before she stood in front of him. She immediately smiled, "Hi! I need a huge favor if you're not doing anything. I need you to be my date."

"Umm- Chris started, completely skeptical about the question.

She interrupted him, "I have a Friends-mas party, literally right now and my date canceled on me just seconds ago. The timing couldn't have been more perfect," she said sarcastically. "Now I'm screwed because I can not go to this party alone and hear my friends giving me shit for coming to another party alone," Y/N finished as she took a deep breath. She had never talked so much at such a fast speed before, but she had to give him the cliffnotes of the situation.

"Ehhhh," Chris lingered. "I don't know."

A part of him was interested to spend an evening with a beautiful girl. However, he wasn't sure how big this party was. He wasn't in the mood to be bombarded with fans.

"There's an open bar," she said.

"Sold!" He smiled at her. "You should have saved yourself all the trouble if you had started with that," he chuckled.

She led him to a small event center at the end of the street. Since it was away from the popular bars, Chris was hoping this party was lowkey. His assumptions were right when he walked in to see about 10 people, some of them with a date.

After checking in their coats, Chris asked, "you and your friends rent out a place like this for a party?"

Y/N nodded, "We like to go all out, especially since for some of us, it's the only time of the year we get to see each other."

"Holy shit!" The pair turned around to see someone completely in shock. "You're Captain America."

Y/N looked at Dave confused and shook her head. "No, this is my date-" she looked back at her date realizing she never got his name.

"Chris," he extended his hand out to Dave, who gladly took it.

"I can't believe you're here," Dave said while still shaking Chris' hand. "He's your date?!" He asked Y/N.

"Umm, yeah. Why?"

Dave completely ignored her question and asked Chris for a picture. Chris told him at the end of the night, he'll take one big group picture with everyone. He wanted to enjoy the party. More importantly, he wanted Y/N to enjoy the rest of the night instead of constantly being interrupted to talk or take pictures. Dave understood and he figured he pass along the message in hope no one would ruin his fun at the party.

"Do you want to fill me in on what happened?" Y/N asked, still completely confused as to why Dave practically asked a random stranger for a selfie.

Chris looked at her seriously. "You really don't know?" She shook her head, causing him to explain. "I'm an actor," he cleared his throat, hoping his next statement didn't make him sound ignorant. "A very well known one."

"Wow. I really didn't know. I don't really watch a lot of tv or movies. Hell, I don't even own a TV," she admitted.

Chris liked that she didn't know who he was. He felt like he could be real and genuine with her. He didn't have to worry or questions if her intentions were wrong.

"Do you want to get out of here? I'm not exactly sure how uncomfortable you'll be if more of my friends ask you for pictures," she looked around to see there was already eyes on him.

"It's okay," he reassured her. "I'm your date tonight and we're gonna have fun."

She smiled, thankful he was willing to toughen it out for her. She led him to the open bar. When they got their drinks, she asked, "If you don't mind, what's it like being an actor?"

Chris smiled at her, "how about I tell you all about it on our second date?"

"I'd like that," she smiled back at him.
