"Hey, Scott, can I see your invitation to Y/N's wedding?" Chris asked when he saw it on top of Scott's junk mail on the kitchen counter.

Chris received his wedding invitation a couple of weeks ago, but there was something different about it. He couldn't shake off the feeling that there was a hidden message specifically for him.

Y/N was his best friend. They dated their freshmen year and sophomore year in high school. Although they broke up, they remained best friends till the end of their senior year. Naturally, they grew apart as Y/N went off and graduated from college and Chris' acting career grew over the years.

Occasionally, they catch up, over a phone call, a couple of emails, and one time when they randomly ran into each other in the same city. It was that same day Chris met Y/N's boyfriend, now fiancé.

Every phone call and email Chris got from Y/N gave him hope. He believed they were destined to be together. They needed time apart to grow and experience life before fate would bring them back together. He didn't care how long it would take. He'd be ready when the time came.

However, that all changed when he ran into Y/N and met her boyfriend. She looked genuinely happy. Who was he to get in the way of her happiness? He wanted nothing but the best for her. So, he let her go along with the hope he had for the both of them.

Now, he's confused. When he received her wedding invitation a couple of weeks ago, he noticed something right off the bat. She wrote his invitation. Her calligraphy had certainly gotten better since high school.

There were certain letters capitalized and in bold when they shouldn't be. He wrote them down on a separate paper and it spelled out:

See You Later

But, he had no idea what that meant. There was no double meaning to it. It wasn't an inside joke between the two of them.

If he knew Y/N like he did back then, then he knew she would leave another message. Somehow, someway. Which is why he asked for Scott's invitation.

"Sure," Scott called from the kitchen. "Didn't you get one?"

Chris didn't answer his brother. He was too focused on trying his best not to rip open the envelope to see the invitation.

His heart rate picked up, thundering against his chest, when he saw another set of random letters capitalized and in bold when they shouldn't be.
Of course, he thought to himself. She knew he would ask for Scott's invitation to compare his invitation with his brother's.

"Do you have a notebook around here?" Chris started opening random drawers in the kitchen, completely forgetting which one was Scott's junk drawer.

"Hey," Scott stopped Chris by putting his hands on his shoulders. Chris looked up at his brother. "First breathe," Scott mimicked a breathing exercise, hoping it would make Chris less anxious.
"Paper and pen, please."

Scott has never seen his brother so serious over a paper and pen, which meant something serious was happening. Without asking any follow up question, Scott grabbed the magnetic notepad from his fridge and a pencil he had on top of the counter.

Chris grabbed it and started writing down the bold capitalized letters on the notepad. "Did you by any chance ask her about this?" He asked his little brother.

"Yeah she said there was some malfunction with the printing company-"

"She lied to you," Chris cut him off. "She wrote it herself."
