Day 7 of Fic-mas: Experiencing snow for the first time

***

"Chris," Y/N whispered. When he didn't respond, she nudged his shoulder. "Chris, wake up," she whispered again.

Nothing.

Dodger got in front of Y/N and began licking Chris' face, waking him up. Chris groaned, "no, Bubba, go to sleep."

"Chris, get up," Y/N giggled as Dodger nudged Chris with his snout.

He fluttered his eyes open and noticed Y/N was dressed like she was about to hit the slopes in Colorado. He closed his eyes and let out a groan, "what time is it?"

"2AM," she answered.

He made a sour face, "why are you waking me up at 2AM? We should be sleeping, all of us," he patted Dodger's head. "Get back in bed. Both of you."

Dodger whined as Y/N poked Chris in the ribs, causing his eyes to open wide. "It's snowing. I mean really snowing! There must be at least 5 inches of snow already!"

"Honey, it snows a lot in Boston," Chris mumbled as he started refluffing his pillow.

"Yeah, but it's my first snow ever," she admitted.

Chris slowly turned around to look at her and see if she was serious because he could not believe she had never experienced - let alone seen - real snow. She shrugged, "back home it never got cold enough for it to actually snow. So, I kind of want to go out and play. And, I want to experience it with the one I love."

Chris felt guilty for brushing off her reasoning for waking him up. He should have known better as she had mentioned before she's never experienced snow before. His brain was still foggy from his deep slumber, the small fact completely slipped his mind. He sat up and reached for her hand. He pulled it up to his lips and pressed a chaste kiss against her smooth skin. "I'm sorry, baby. Give me a few minutes to get dressed, okay?"

She squealed. "Dodger and I will be waiting for you outside!"

Chris watched them leave the bedroom. He chuckled as opened the blinds from his bedroom windows. She ran around, chasing Dodger as he jumped up trying to catch snowflakes on his tongue. Chris grabbed his phone from the nightstand and opened the camera app. He zoomed in and took a photo of Y/N holding on to Dodger's front paws as they danced in the snow. Dodger got down and Y/N kneeled down to pat his head, only to be bombarded with kisses from Dodger. Chris took another picture of the cute moment before the moment would pass.

As Chris got ready, Y/N began making snowballs. Dodger watching intenstely what she is doing. "Can you keep a secret?" she asked Dodger. He barked in response as if he knew what she was saying. "When your daddy comes out we're gonna attack him with these, okay?" Dodger wagged his tail, getting excited. He didn't know what was going on, but he was having fun regardless.

"Alright, I'm ready!" Chris shouted as he closed the back door behind him. Within seconds, Y/N threw snowballs at him. She giggled as his beanie and face was covered in snow.

"Oh, it's on!" Chris quickly bent down and made a snowball.

He threw one as soon as it was done and ran to get closer to her. Y/N squealed as she ran around the backyard, dodging snowballs coming her way. Dodger was running back and forth between his two parents. At one point, he was trying to catch the flying snowballs. He managed to catch on, only to completely break into pieces as soon as he caught it.

Eventually, Chris caught up to Y/N. He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her down with him as they both fell back on the snow. They both laughed as they looked up in the dark sky watching small snowflakes falling down towards them. It was beautiful. It was almost too perfect, too good to be true, but Y/N loved it. She loved the beauty of it, the smell of fresh snow mixed with pine wood. For the first time in a long time, she felt at home. She felt at peace. She felt she was exactly where she was meant to be.

"This is so much fun! I can't believe this is what I've been missing out on all these years," she turned around to look at him.

His lips slowly formed a small smile as he gazed into her beautiful eyes. "That's exactly what I tell myself every time I'm with you. I'm so lucky I found you because I can't believe this is what I've missing out on all these years, moments like this with the love of my life."

"I love you," she smiled.

"I love you too," he leaned in to kiss her underneath the falling snowflakes.
