Chapter 13

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

After the fight between Jason and Darrell in the cafeteria, they were arrested and taken to Juvenile. They got five days of suspension, so Jason can't return to school until the 11th, nor can Darrell. But that creep was rude to Jane and wanted to get in her pants, so Jason stopped that quickly. Today is Tuesday, January 4, 1983. I took Zeke for a quick walk to let him do his business. As I walk up the sidewalk, holding Zeke's leash, I see Kelly's car pulling up in front of my house. Zeke sees her car and barks softly. As I get up beside the car, I stop with Zeke. The window is down. Kelly said, " Get your sexy ass in this car." She winks at me, and I feel my face blush. Zeke is sniffing the air as he looks around. I take him inside, release him from the leash, wash my hands in the kitchen sink, and walk back into the foyer and the living room. I pick up my backpack off the couch and my keys off the side table. I walk out and close the door, locking it up. I walk down to the car, open the door, and enter. I put my backpack on the floor between my shoes. Kelly puts her hand on my knee, and I look at her. She puts her hand on my face and goes to kiss me when a knock at my window startles us. I jump in surprise as I look up at Ralph Smith, the mailman. Kelly groans in annoyance. I roll down the window using the hand crank, and Ralph smiles weirdly as he peers down my black button-down shirt that is unbuttoned a little. I see Kelly in the rearview mirror glaring at him. He said, " You are looking more and more like your mother daily." I said, " Is there something I can help you with, Ralph?" He said, " Yeah, when you see your dad tell him I need him to look at my old truck. It keeps making a chirping noise every time I drive it". Kelly said, " Your serpentine belt is loose or damaged." Ralph had his hand on the car door and looked in at Kelly. He said, " How do you know that?" Kelly looked at him with a sarcastic look, then said, " Because I've worked on cars all my life with my dad, and I work on my car." Ralph said, " Hmm.. I normally wouldn't let a woman do a man's job, but I guess I can make an exception since you're Austin's kid". Kelly rolls her eyes at his sexist attitude. Ralph said, " Can you stop by after school today?" Kelly said, " Sure,." with a sarcastic tone. Ralph said, " Well, thank ya.. I'll see you pretty gals later then". He steps back as Kelly starts up the engine, pushing the clutch in and throwing the shift into first gear as she takes off down the road. As she drives, She said, " I can't stand that prick. He's always checking you out like a creep". I said, " Yeah, he's very creepy, but he doesn't touch, thank god." Kelly said, " I'll kill that old bastard." She really hates him like bad. I said, " I'm not the only girl he does that too. I've caught him looking at all women of any age. He's checked you out, too". Kelly said as she drove, " Yeah, but he is really into you. he's got a big boner for you". I said, " That's disgusting." Kelly stopped at a stop sign on Toms Street as she waited; she said, " Besides, he stopped me from doing this." She leaned over, putting her hand on the back of my head and pulling me into a deep passionate kiss I kiss her back. We hear the sound of wolf whistles coming from Kelly's side of the car. Kelly pulls away and looks at these two men in a Z28 Camaro. They are both white and at least twenty years old. The passenger leans out the window and whistles, " Hey baby, can I get between that action?" He and his friend snicker. Kelly said, " Sure, if you can beat my car." I said, " Kelly." They both looked stunned as they fist bump each other. Kelly revs up the engine loudly. I said, " Kelly, I'm not doing anything with those assholes." Kelly said, " Relax, they can't beat me." She winked at me. As the driver revs up the engine, the passenger counts down. I've never seen someone as beautiful as her as fierce... The passenger said, " Three!!" Kelly has the clutch pushed in as she throws it first and floors the gas. The Camaro takes off with her car, but Kelly speeds up, flying down West Oldham Avenue down through Western Heights. She drifts around the corner, turning right up McSpadden Street, then turns right down Scott Avenue as they trail behind us. She is now speeding in a school zone. If she is caught, she is going straight to jail, and so will I because I'm in the car with her. She drifts around Jourolman Avenue and then turns right on Reed Street, where she stops at the stop sign on Reed Street. The Camaro stops beside the car, and Kelly looks at the guys. She sarcastically said, " Awww.. no action for you two". The guys are pissed as the driver bangs his head against the steering wheel. Kelly said, " I love being Bi." She laughs evilly as she floors the car past them and back onto Oldham Avenue, where she keeps going, taking Woodland Avenue all the way down, turning left up St. Mary Street and right into the back parking lot of the school, where she pulls into a parking spot.
