Chapter 36

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

Today is August 13, 1984; It is the first full day of school after summer break and if you're wondering my summer break was okay except for Kelly being an asshole. I'm getting to the end of my rope sooner or later things have to change for better or for worse. Today is Mine and Kelly's two year anniversary last year she surprised me and remembered but she didn't take me out or anything all I got was laid. Don't get me wrong I was proud of her for trying but sex isn't the most important thing in a relationship you can find other ways to be intimate with someone without involving sex. It will most likely be the same thing this year she doesn't try hard enough to make it important so why should I? I just got done getting ready for school. I put on my dark blue jean jacket, a black and white checkered short sleeve button up tied to the right, a white tank top under the button up, a pair of high waisted Guess blue jeans and my black and white Vans. I grab my keys off my vanity and my Coach wallet that is a brown leather it wasn't cheap either it was $100 at the mall but I had saved up a ton of money and I wanted a nice wallet. I unzip the small pocket on the outside of my backpack and place the wallet in there with my lead pencils and my Walkman. I zip it back and pick up the back pack carrying it on my shoulder by one strap. I walk down stairs and into the foyer I see the TV on and I pick on the remote off the coffee table and push the power button turning it off I put the remote back on the table and walk down the hallway and into the kitchen to let Zeke back inside. He walks in and I close the door locking it up. Zeke is over at his water bowl getting a drink I walk up and pet him then walk down the hallway and up to the front door. I open it and walk out on the front porch locking the door with my key. I walk down to the driveway and unlock my car getting inside putting the key in the ignition. I press my foot on the clutch all the way down with my left foot the gear shifter is in Neutral, I turn the key in the ignition and remove my foot from the clutch, I press my right foot on the brake, then put the gear shifter into first gear, I remove my right foot from the brake and slowly begin to release the clutch with my left foot, As I gently release the clutch I press the accelerator very easy with my right foot. Now I'm driving in first gear. I repeat the process until I switch to second gear. Soon I'm building more speed as I drive down the road. I'm at the red light at West Woodland Avenue when a red 1972 Plymouth Barracuda pulls up beside me.

I look over and see Kyle in the driver seat he smiles at me and I smile back. He's had his license for a few months now he was trying to get a car but he finally got one. The light turns green and I smile at him as I pull off shifting to build my speed back up. As I'm driving I see him approaching in my side mirror. He gets right beside me and I look over at him. He winks at me and speeds up I grin as shift gaining more speed until I'm flying by him as we fly down East Woodland Avenue with him behind me. No cars were coming from either way so I turn and drift onto the hill that leads up to the parking lot. I have slowed down a lot since I turned, I drive down and pull into a parking spot I put the car in park then shut off the car. I look over at Kyle pulling in a spot beside me. I grab my backpack and pull the keys out of the ignition and put them in the pocket of my dark blue jean jacket. I get out of the car and close the door as Kyle is walking up he grabs me by both arms and I look up at him as he easily pushes my back into my car. He smiles as he stares down at me. He said " I caught you now". I feel my heart beat fast as I smile at him. He looks down my shirt that is unbutton just a little showing a little cleavage but not too much because I don't have big boobs. He said as he looked down " Nice rack". He let's me go and takes a step back. I feel my face blush as he smiles at me. I said " I don't know about that there isn't much there". Kyle said as he leaned up against his car " Their still beautiful no matter what". I said " You just like boobs". in a playfully way. He said " Oh yeah". with a wink. I said " That's alright cause I do too". He smiles at me. I notice he's letting his facial hair grow he has a petite goatee. I said " I like your goatee". He rubs his chin hair and said " Thank you." Kyle has now reached 6'0" and Jason is 6'2". I hear Kelly's car pulling in and I look down seeing her pull in beside Kyle's car. She turns the car off and gets out closing the door. She walks around and up to Kyle then said " Hey Babe". She puts her hand on the back of his head and pulls him into a kiss. He looks out the corner of his eye at me as he kisses her back. I can't help but feel a little jealous when they kiss cause I wish I could kiss him too but if I do Kelly will punch my face off. She turns around and looks down at me. She notices my cleavage and said as she stared down " I could get use to this view". I grab her chin and pull her face up. I said " My face is up here". She smiles as I kiss her softly Kyle is watching us. He walks up and grabs Kelly's hips and pulls her into him. We pull away from the kiss and Kelly looks up at Kyle then said " Looks like you two missed me". Kelly is wearing her blue jean jacket, a dark grey v-neck t-shirt, a pair of high waisted Ralph Lauren blue jeans and her grey and red Reeboks. I spot Xander and Dana walking down the parking lot and up to me. Kelly said " Aww you kids finally made it to high school". in a sarcastic tone. Dana said to Kelly " You're the one that's gonna be old before us". Kelly glares at her and said " Watch it Red". Dana giggles as she smiles at me. Dana and Xander know that Kelly and I are together and they are cool with it. I spot Dakota in the parking lot talking to a group of kids at their cars. She spots us and walks over to us, Kelly said " Cooper? I thought you graduated?" She said " I did but I still have friends here and I was inviting them to my birthday party tomorrow night. Would you guys like to go?" I said " Sure. where is it?" Dakota said " It's at my mom's house at 1100 Kincaid street". Kelly said " I guess I could go". She only said that cause I want to go. Dakota still doesn't like Kelly but tolerates her for me. Dana said " How old are you turning?" Dakota said " Eighteen". Kelly said to Dana " And you said I was gonna be old before you? She's gonna be". She snickers. Dakota rolls her eyes at Kelly's comment. Dakota looks at me and said " I'll see you guys there". She walks away and down to her black 1969 Pontiac Gto she gets inside and starts it up. She drives down and pulls out of the back parking lot. I see Stephanie and Steve across the parking lot standing infront of a black 1984 Porsche 911. I said to Kelly " Babe". she sees where I'm looking and her facial expression turns to a glare. She said " I thought those assholes where from California?" I said " It looks like they transferred here". Dana said " What part of California are they from?" I said " Oakland". Dana said " They look like trouble". I said " They are." Later on that day after lunch I'm in my new Art class with Shana. We've made up and are closer as friends now. Shana tells me she senses a good future for us she just can't tell me exactly what that future is hopefully a really good one. Shana and I are sitting in the back of the class looking at a magazine called Star with Ralph Macchio on the front of it waiting on the teacher to get back from her lunch break. I hear the door open to the class room, I look up and see Ashley and Mandi walk in then Amy walks in and I almost fell out of my chair I tap Shana and she looks up from the magazine. Her facial expression turns to stunned as we both watch her walk up to the empty table infront of me and Shana. They all three sit down, Amy slowly turns her head back looking at us with an evil glare. Soon Ashley and Mandi turn around. Amy said " It looks like you've seen a ghost girls". I said " I don't know.. are we looking at one?" Shana said with sarcasm " Please she has always looked like a ghost with that pasty white skin". I snicker at the comment and Amy glares at us. I said " Let me guess Natalie brought you back like Ashley?" She said " You guessed right bitch and that means you better watch over your shoulders for the rest of your life cause I promise I will make both your lives a living hell until the day you die". They all turn back around and Shana said " So much for an Amy free life". with a sarcasm. After school I'm in the back parking with Kyle. We are standing infront of our cars waiting on Kelly. About ten minutes later she comes walking up. Kyle said " Babe why were you late?" She said " I got into it with Jessica in my history class". I said " Jessica Albert?" Kelly said " Yeah she's the one that goes around stealing boyfriends. I heard her say she wanted Kyle so I told her that he would never date a gutter slut like her who has been passed around by every guy in the school". I can't help but laugh cause it's true that girl tries to sleep with all the guys. Kyle said " Did you get in trouble?" Kelly said " No Mr. Swiss was trying not to laugh cause he knew I was right too he wrote us up though". I said " Mr. Swiss is cool you got lucky". Kelly said " Probably. Mr. Swiss likes to watch me I always catch him looking at me". She said with a grin. Kyle said " Well he better keep his eyes to his self". I giggle at Kyle's protective demeanor with Kelly. We all get our cars and follow Kelly to her house to hang out for a few hours with Jason and Jane; Jane doesn't really like to come over to Kelly's house but as long as me and Jason are with her she's fine. We are talking about some upcoming movies to go see like A Nightmare on Elm street a horror movie about a severely burnt man who died and became a dream demon he kills teens in their dreams this one sounds wild and looks like it's gonna be a great movie. Jason and Kyle really want to go see A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Terminator with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Me, Kelly and Jane are excited to go see Oxford Blues with Rob Lowe on the 24th of this month.
