Chapter 21

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

Last time we encountered Miss Johnson as a ghost; the librarian that went missing in 1968. She had been trapped inside the abandon library for fifteen years not able to move on. But what we didn't know was she grew bitter and angry over the years mostly towards my mom. Miss Johnson was resentful of the life my mom got to live with me and my dad while she missed out on not only her daughter's life but her grand daughter Lily's life as well. This woman's pain was so intense that I didn't need Shana's powers to feel it. I felt so bad for her and all I wanted to do was make her pain go away so I did something bold and brought Melissa, Lily and Emily to the abandon library where Miss Johnson finally let go of her anger and let my mom free she then moved on to the afterlife. Today is Friday May 13, 1983 or as everyone else calls it " Friday the 13th" not the movies with Jason Voorhees. But the day that some people believe is "cursed". They don't walk under ladders, they throw salt over their shoulders etc. Some people are okay with their superstitions then some are crazy and they drive others crazy. I'm not that bad but with certain things like closing pocket knifes or getting your feet sweeped by a broom, some people say you won't get married or you could get bad luck. I don't make a big deal out of these things like some people would. I'm sitting in my living room watching tv with Zeke beside me. I'm waiting on Kelly to pick me up for school as usual. At 7:24 am, I hear the horn outside so I get up and pet Zeke one last time and pick up my backpack off the couch beside him. I walk into the foyer and open the front door walking out on the front porch shutting the door behind me and locking it with my keys. I walk down to the car and get in the passenger seat closing the door. I put my seat belt on then look up at Kelly she's sending a message on her beeper I still can't shake the feeling that she could be talking to Mandi I don't care if they talk but I know Mandi wants more. She slides it in the front pocket of her blue jeans then leans over giving me a soft kiss as I kiss her back I feel her smile into the kiss. She pulls away and looks at me with a smile. She shifts into drive and eases off the clutch as she pulls off driving down the street. Kelly said as she drives " So it's Friday the 13th". in a mocking tone. I said " Yeah I know". She said " You're not one of those superstitious freaks are you?" I said " Only with certain things like closing pocket knifes and getting your feet sweeped by a broom". Kelly said " Yeah I'm like that too. You ever come after me with a broom and I'll shove it up your ass". I giggle at her then said " Trust me I would do the same to you if chased me with one". She gives me an evil grin. She said as she drives down Woodland Avenue " I'm taking Kyle out on date tonight for his birthday would you like to join us?" I think about for a minute then said " It's his birthday you two should go alone". Kelly said " I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you tagged along". She said with a smirk. She said " And maybe I'd like my girlfriend to be there it would be like a double date". I smile and roll my eyes playfully. I said " Fine I'll go". I pull out my beeper and message my mom asking her if I could go with them. A few minutes later Kelly pulls into the back parking lot of the school and my beeper makes a noise. I pull it out and it says 16 which means Yeah or Yes. I get another message that says 830 which means be safe. Kelly is parking the car putting in park as she pulls the gear shift down. I said " Mom said I could go". Kelly said " Cool". We get out of the car shutting the doors behind us and walking around to the back of the car. Kelly sees her shoelace undone. She takes off her blue jean backpack and sits it on the trunk and bends down tying her shoe. She's wearing her blue jean jacket like she always does, her black AC DC high voltage shirt, a pair of dark high waisted blue jeans and her new pair of Reeboks that are dark grey with some red on them they are mostly dark grey the bottoms of them are dark grey and black. I'm wearing my blue jean jacket, my grey AC DC back in black shirt, a pair of dark high waisted blue jeans and my black Nike Pegasus. Kelly stands up afterwards leaning her back against the trunk as she scans the parking lot. Roy's truck comes pulling up infront of us, Kyle and Jason both get out and walk around the front and up to us. Roy pulls off waving at all of us. Kelly is turned around with the front zipper of her backpack open pulling something out. Kyle smiles as he sees her holding something in her hand. Kelly said " Hold out your left hand". Kyle raises his hand up with his fingers out and Kelly slides a black colored ring with a blue channel in the middle of it on his ring finger.
