Chapter 58

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

Being sent to the Unknown plane was a very strange feeling especially when we got back. Mom told me we had been missing for a whole week. I couldn't believe it when I looked at the date on my watch. Kyle was a complete mess is what Jason and Jane told me. He couldn't sleep or barely eat. Roy and Renee said they had never seen him that sad before and it worried them. When I left the mall I went straight to Kyle he had just got home from work. When he seen me he just picked me up and hugged me so tightly while we cried. I was impressed with Ashley and Natalie for helping me get out of there with them and for the fact that Natalie actually saved me when I lost control of my powers and started falling after one of the demons fed off of me. I had no idea that they stopped aging either. Because of staying down there too long cause you can't tell that Ashley is still fifteen and that Natalie is still eighteen immortality is a wild thing to have. Cause when you look in the mirror you haven't aged a day but you know that you are suppose to. They say that it's comes with a price because while you stay the same age as time moves on you don't. While your family and friends do and they eventually die and leave you on earth for eternity. I don't know what I would do if that was me.. To not age a day and watch my loved ones leave me.. I know it's dark when you think about like that cause nobody wants age and not feel young and beautiful anymore.. But you give up your mortality and your family for that price and life is precious to us humans and we must enjoy it to the fullest before it's too late to anymore.. so please don't ever take life for granted.. It's been two weeks since I went missing with Ashley and Natalie. Nobody knew where we went and we got sent away from the heart of the plane which is another reason why it took so long for us to travel there. It's Tuesday June 17, 1986 tomorrow is Graduation day for me, Kyle, Jason, Kat and James. We all have been enjoying the summer before we all start College and before I start my new job. Kelly recently bought a Pontoon Boat and offered to take us out on it at Norris Lake that is an hour and thirty-eight minutes away from town. It's also Norris Dam it sits on more than 4,000 acres located on Norris Reservoir. With more than 800 miles of shoreline, the park offers recreational boating, skiing, and fishing. The lake was created by the Norris Dam at the Cove Creek Site on the Clinch River in 1936 by the Tennessee Valley. It is 210 feet deep and there is even an old ghost town under the lake it was known as Loyston, Tennessee. It is under a mile-wide section of Norris Lake known as the "Loyston Sea" located along the shores of Big Ridge State Park. At Loyston, State Highway 61 intersected a major local road. The trip to Knoxville from Loyston was a 30-mile (48 km) drive on Highway 61 which has since then been re-routed. I'm at my house with Jane getting ready to go pick up pick up Jesse and take her to the lake with us for the day since Terri and Don both have to work. Jane has spent a few nights with me Kyle has been working full time at the Construction site and I'm still waiting to graduate and get my diploma before I can start my new job. Jane is on Summer break for College and isn't working at the mall anymore. she's a Phlebotomist at Finway Hospital where Mom, Debby and Terri work. When they were in Nursing School that's what they did before they became RN Nurses. Jane is a very busy woman and she is on a Vacation from work too. They get Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's and the summer if they choose to. Kyle is getting off work at 5:00pm and Jason gets off work at 4:30pm so he's gonna swing by Kyle's house and pick him up. Jane and I put on our bathing suits and our short blue jean shorts over the bottoms. I'm wearing black tank top, a black and white bathing suit with a Geometric pattern and a pair of blue jean Guess shorts and my black and white old skool Vans. Jane is wearing a grey tank top, a grey bathing suit, a pair of Levi blue jean shorts and her black low top Converses. Jane teased me about the grey in my hair when we were changing. I teased her back by saying she has more cause she's older and we laughed. When I found mine I showed her when I seen her and she showed me the grey in her hair so now I don't feel weird about it. We got a bag packed and headed down stairs. Jane sits the bag down on the floor beside the small endtable that sits against the wall above the banister. We walked down the hallway and into the kitchen. Zeke followed us with the sound of his paws walking on the wooden floor. I opened the door and let Zeke out then we walked out. I said as we walked to the metal shed " I'm pretty sure my Dad has a cooler in his shed". I pulled the door open and stepped inside looking around. I look to the right corner and see the cooler sitting there against the wall. I suddenly have a flashback to my fifteenth birthday in 1983 when I was still dating Kelly. Mandi had just returned to town and I caught them kissing by the gym building a few days before my birthday. Kelly and I had a huge fight and she hit me and I hit her then she left saying she was going to Mandi's. We ended up making up on my birthday that was when I was having those nosebleeds too. We had sex in my room and again when my mom went to the store. She was still upset about Jane and I sleeping together so she cheated on me with Mandi that day also. Kelly and I had walked out here to the shed to put a bag of dirt in here that my mom had bought and we made out in the corner. Jane's voice pulls me out of my flashback " Kim?" I look to my right and she's standing behind me. She said as she put her hands on my shoulders to comfort me " Are you alright?" I reach up and put my left hand over her right hand and said " Yeah".. I turn around looking up at her as she looks at me with a slight concerned expression. Jane said " Where did you go?" I said " I had a PTSD flashback of Kelly". She said " I'm sorry.. Do you want to talk about it?" I said " It was from around the time of my fifteenth birthday when Mandi moved back to town and Kelly lied about cheating on me with her".. Jane has a guilty expression on her face as she looks at the floor of the shed. She looks back up at me and said " Kelly was mad at you because we slept together.. I feel like it's my fault why she cheated on you and beat you that day".. I said " Don't feel bad.. it wasn't your fault.. and I don't regret what we did.. do you?" Jane said " No I don't.. it's just I can't help but feel bad". I put my hands on her face and said " Stop.. you did nothing wrong". I pull her into a hug and she holds my waist as I hold her shoulders. After the hug we look at each other. I said " Like I said I believe Kelly was more mad about not being included because she wants to have sex with you". Jane makes a disgusted face and said " She's such a fucking pervert". I said " Yeah still is I caught her checking you out at Kyle's party that night". Jane said " Kelly is always gonna be a creep". She said that as I picked up the cooler. We walked out of the shed and back into the house Jane held the door open for Zeke as he walked back in she closed it and locked the door. We got our bag in the car and the cooler I drove down to Woodland Market and bought a few six packs of Soda; Coke, Mountain Dew and Pepsi. I paid for a bag of ice and got it out of the freezer outside the store after Jane carried the soda to my trunk where she opened it and sat the cans down while I tossed the bag of ice on the ground to crush it more. I picked it up and tore it open and dumped the ice inside the cooler feeling it up. We pulled the soda cans out of the plastic and put them inside. Jane walked to the trashcan by the freezer and tossed the plastic inside she came back and got in the passenger seat beside me as I started the car back up and got it going. As I drove down Woodland the radio played Only the young by Journey as Jane and I sang along together. We pulled up at Terri and Don's house and I honked the horn. Don walks out with Jesse in her one piece bathing suit with that has stripes with rainbow colors and a peace symbol on the chest that is black, a pair of kid's Levi blue jean shorts and those rainbow flip flops all the kids wear. I used to have a pair when I was little. Jane opens her door and gets out she reaches down and pulls the lever making the seat come up. Jesse climbs in and Don hands Jane a tiny kid's backpack that has Scooby Doo on it. Don looks at Jesse and said " Have fun Sweetie and listen to Jane and Kim". Jesse said in her five year old voice " I will Daddy". She can talk really well now she almost sounds like a mini adult. Don said " I love you Jesse Lee". She smiles and said " I love you too Daddy". Don raises up and looks at Jane. He's thirty-one and he stands at 6'0" and weighs about 170 lbs. His hair is brown like the color of Jesse's his eyes are hazel brown and his hair is cut like Johnny Depp's hair in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Don said " Terri gets off work at 7:00pm tonight she'll pick her up. We are you guys going after you leave the lake?" Jane said " Back to Kim's house". Don said " Good. Terri isn't comfortable with Jesse going over to Kelly's mansion". Jane said " It's okay. we aren't going anywhere near her mansion". Don said " Anyways y'all have fun and be safe". Jane said " We will". She gets in the car and puts her seat belt on as Jesse takes a drink of her Grape flavored Caprisun that she pulled out of her backpack. We left the house and drove out to the lake as Jesse played with her Rubix cube and a Merlin handheld toy. We pulled in the parking lot meeting Kelly and Mandi. Kelly has her Pontoon boat attached to the hitch of her new 1985 4x4 Toyota Xtracab truck that is black it looks exactly like Marty McFly's truck from Back to the Future. She slowly backs it to the water getting the boat in. She stops the truck and puts in park then gets out walking around to the back as Mandi holds Kevyn in her right arm. Kelly releases the boat from the hitch and it slowly floats in the water in one place right next to the dock. I hear an engine and I look back at Dakota pulling in her black 1969 Gto. She parks it then gets out of the driver seat while Noah gets out of the back seat in a pair of Scooby Doo swim trunks and the same rainbow flip flops. Jesse walks up to him with a friendly smile and they do a cool handshake. Soon Jason shows up with Kyle then Kat, James, Shana and Jacob all show up in their cars. Kelly is on the boat getting things ready. She is wearing a red Reebok tank top, a red bathing suit top, a pair of Lee blue jean shorts that are light wash and her red and white Air Jordan high-tops. Mandi is wearing a black bathing suit top with white polka dots, a pair of short Lee blue jean shorts that are acid washed and her black and white Nike Convention high-tops. Kevyn is wearing a red tank top for babies, a pair of Gap short blue jean shorts and a pair of red and white Air Jordan high-tops she matches Kelly's clothes. Shana is wearing a sky blue bathing suit top, a pair of short blue jean shorts that are Levi's and pair of navy blue Adidas slide sandals with light blue stripes on the tops. Jacob is wearing a pair of long red swim trunks with white draw strings and a pair of red and black flip flops. Jason is wearing a pair of long black swim trunks with white draw strings and a pair of black flip flops. Kyle is wearing a pair of long navy blue swim trunks with white draw strings and the same Adidas slide sandals like Shana. Dakota is wearing a dark purple bathing suit top, a pair of short blue jean shorts that are Lee's and a pair of black flip flops. I'm watching Dakota open her trunk and pull out a black and white striped beach bag. Her mixed skin complexion looks so beautiful in the sun. Her short black pixie haircut is styled up a little spikey she has a pair of black Ray Ban sunglasses on her face she sees me and smiles at me with her beautiful smile her teeth are pretty and straight. She closes the trunk and starts walking across the parking lot she reaches in the bag and pulls out a foam football and tosses it to Noah who catches it. Noah throws it to Jesse and she catches it then throws it back. Dakota is standing infront of me as I look up at her with a grin. She said " Hello beautiful". she takes off her sunglasses and puts them on her head. I smile and said " Hey to you stranger". I said messing with her. She said " I know.. I haven't been around a lot lately but we can spend some time together when you're not working". I said " I'll be starting my new job after graduation sometime but I do get the weekends off cause the bank is closed". Dakota smiles and said " Sounds good.. and I'll be there tomorrow to watch you walk across that stage". I smile at her as she said that. Kelly announces to everyone " Alright everyone go take a whiz and let's get going". Kelly, Mandi, Kevyn, Jason and Jane stay at the boat while me, Dakota, Kyle, Noah, Jacob, Shana and Jesse all go up to the bathrooms. We go in the women's while Kyle, Jacob and Noah go in the men's. After using the bathroom Shana and Jesse are washing there hands at the two sinks as me and Dakota wait behind them. Shana and Jesse turn off the water and Shana gets them paper towels from the dispenser as me and Dakota chat and wash our hands. Shana and Jesse walk outside. I turn the water off and get a paper towel out of the dispenser I pull one out and hand it to Dakota. She takes it and dries her hand off then tosses it in the trashcan behind her in the corner I toss mine in the same time. Dakota gently grabs my face and pulls me into a passionate kiss I moan quietly into the kiss as I kiss her back. We stop kissing and Dakota groans. She said " I'm gonna tear you up when I get a hold of you". she said with a grin. I grab her between the legs and she bites her lower lip as she stares down at me. I said with my lips inches away from hers " We'll see about that". I winked at her. We both giggle softly and walk out of the bathroom and back down to the boat. Kelly drove out to the middle of the lake which took awhile but we finally made it and she stopped the boat. Dakota is helping Noah put on his Scooby Doo lifejacket while Jane is helping Jesse put on her pink one. Kyle and I are sitting on the boat seat he has his right arm over me. Kyle looks at Dakota buckling Noah's lifejacket. He winks at me and I blush as Dakota winks at me then gives Kyle a smile. Jesse and Noah walk to the back of the boat where there is an area to stand and they both count to three and jump in together. They come up from the water giggling at the cold. They swim to the left as Jason and Jacob both jump off. Jason does a front flip so does Jacob. Shana and Jane are standing there and they both dive off at the same time. Me, Kyle and Dakota walk up. Both of them smile and playfully push me in as I exclaim in surprise at the cold water. I come up and give them a playful glare as they are both laughing. Kyle looks at Dakota and said " Ladies first". Dakota said " No you first". Kyle said " I insist". They both start struggling against each other playfully and Kyle lifts Dakota into his arms and tosses her in as she exclaims in surprise as her feet hit first and she goes under. She comes up beside me and playfully flips Kyle off as they giggle. Kelly and Mandi are walking up Mandi has Kevyn in her arm she is wearing a baby lifejacket. Kelly grins evilly and shoves Kyle in while he wasn't paying attention he exclaims at the cold as he lands in. He comes up and looks up at Kelly as she laughs evilly like the Grinch. Kelly said " Opps". sarcastically. Kelly jumps in beside Kyle and comes up from the water flipping her hair back. Kyle playfully splashes her in the face with water and she splashes him back soon they have a splash fight as Kevyn giggles at them in her cute baby giggle. They stop as Mandi tosses in a baby float with a seat. Kelly swims up to the ladder as Mandi gets down on her knees and carefully hands Kevyn down to Kelly as Kyle holds the float still while Kelly slowly puts Kevyn in as she giggles at the cold water. We all swim in the water for about two hours taking breaks and getting on the boat. Dakota and I sneak around to the left side of the boat while Noah and Jesse are swimming on the right side with Jason, Jacob, Jane, Kyle and Shana. Kelly and Mandi are on the boat with Kevyn while Mandi feeds Kevyn some Applesauce. I have my back to the side of the boat as Dakota holds me against with her hands on my butt. I have my arms around her neck pulling her closer as we make out with passion. We hear something land in the water beside us to the left we stop kissing and see a green grape floating there. I exclaim quietly as I feel something fall down my bathing suit top I pull out a green grape and we both look up at Kelly snickering above she tosses one into Dakota's top too and laughs. Dakota pulls out the grape and Kelly said " Nice rack Kim. Not so bad yourself Cooper". Dakota smiles sarcastically and throws the grape at Kelly and she cackles as she ducks. Mandi walks up beside Kelly as she is still watching us. Mandi grabs Kelly's face with her right hand and turns her face to her and kisses her passionately as Kelly kisses her back. Mandi pulls away from the kiss and said to Kelly " Watching titties without me I see". she said playfully. Kelly said " Jane is on the other side with Shana". She grins at Kelly. They both walk away to the other side. Dakota and I look at each other and roll our eyes. Dakota said " They are perfect for each other". I said " Definitely". Dakota said " Well I was gonna cop a feel but I don't want those two perverts tuning in". I said " Yeah.. it's okay". We swim around to the other side and look up at Kelly and Mandi looking down Jane and Shana's tops as they lean up against the boat. They look at us and I clear my throat and motion my head up. They both look up and see them watching. Jane has a squirt gun in her hand she quickly points it up spraying Kelly right in the face as her and Shana giggle. Kelly exclaims in surprise so does Mandi as it gets her too. Jane and Shana high five each other as water drips from Kelly's face as she grins down at them. After an hour or two everyone gets back on the boat. A speed boat slowly drives by with Donna driving. Austin is sitting in the boat on the seat next to Robby and they are making out as Maria makes a disgusted face and says something in Spanish. We all make a grossed out face and Kelly said as she started the boat " Yeah.. my Dad's been boinking Robby she tried to play step mom and I decked her in the mouth". I said " What did your Dad do?" Kelly said " He laughed his ass off". Kelly takes a drink of water from her plastic water bottle. She drives back to the dock and we all got in our cars and left. I drove to my house with Jane and Jesse not too long after Terri showed up and picked Jesse up and they went home. Jane hung out for a little bit then went to her apartment with Jason. She lives in Windsor Court too like Dakota after Jason turns eighteen he's moving in with her.
