Chapter 79

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

One month later..

It's been a month since Heather injected me and Kelly with Ecstasy and LSD. I had never felt so strange in my entire life... I've drunk and I've smoked pot but that kind of feeling was just crazy... I just wanted it to stop... My jaws ached for days after that because of the clenching. I was burning up and sweating from the drug. Mom said that the batch of liquid Ecstasy was very strong because that's why I was sweating I had a high fever, my heart felt like it was gonna jump out of my chest, and I felt like I was floating off the ground even though I wasn't, I was having mild hallucinations and anxiety. I felt like I could drink tons of water but I couldn't. Mom said if I had drank too much it could have killed me because that's how Ecstasy does you it makes you dehydrate. Kelly was worse than me, she started tripping not too long after Heather injected her. I didn't remember how we got to Mom and Dad's house but as the days passed I slowly started remembering.. DayNesha and Patrick drove us to the middle of downtown where traffic is usually insane because of all of the construction. They are constantly tearing down buildings and putting up new ones causing driving down there to become difficult. I remembered walking down South Gay Street holding Kelly's hand cause she was tripping. She kept telling me she had seen Gargoyles flying around. The Grotesque statues that are built on the gutter of buildings acting as a spout to carry water clear of a wall. But in Mythology, they were believed to frighten away evil spirits. From what I've seen so far and being a witch I don't doubt that Gargoyles are real in the magic world. Kelly says that they are but like the Devil, they have been so long gone from the earth that the statues still do have the power to scare off evil spirits. I know what you are thinking. Could these statues scare off Kelly because she's evil? No, because Kelly is half-human and not a spirit but the Crucifix does have a similar effect it just burns her though. As we made our way down the sidewalk of Gay Street, Kelly stopped and was looking down a dark alleyway between some old buildings when she saw Darla her Mom. It was a hallucination because Darla wasn't actually there and when the hallucination disappeared it deeply upset Kelly because, under the effects of the drug, it appeared as if Darla was real. We were spotted by a co-worker of Mom, Debby, and Terri's from the hospital who had stopped us and called Mom from a nearby payphone. The woman was twenty-year-old Kathy Devereux, she was a college classmate of Jane's who became a Receptionist at the hospital not too long ago. Kathy thought Kelly and I were very drunk. Mom, Debby, Terri, and Jane rushed downtown to meet Kathy where they got us in Mom's Jeep and drove to Mom and Dad's house where they took care of us. Mom said that as we were walking up to the house Kelly started tripping out way worse. She said that Kelly refused to go inside that bad things happened in the house.. and that she didn't mean to.. She was talking about the countless fights and arguments that she and I had in the house. Mom said that Kelly transformed into her demonic form and hulked out on them. Mom said that she, Debby, Terri, Jane, Jason, and Kyle all grabbed a hold of Kelly and that she threw them all off with her strength and took off running down the street yelling with Mom and Jason chasing after her because they were the fastest to keep up with her. Mom said that Jason pretty much had to full-on football tackle Kelly to the ground and Jason is a big guy. He's 6'2" and weighs 190, with Kelly being much smaller his weight knocked her down and he got on top of her and held her down as Debby brought down some heavy chains she had in the trunk of her car. Jason held Kelly down while Mom and Debby wrapped her arms behind her back and her feet together with the chains. Jason bear-hugged Kelly and carried her back to the house. But that was the easy part now they had to chain her to the bed in my room. Mom said that Jason carried Kelly upstairs to my old room and that they took off the chains. Jason and Kyle forced Kelly to lay down on the bed and they both lay across her to pin her down with their weight while Mom, Debby, Terri, and Jane chained her arms and legs to the headboard railing and the footboard railing of the bed. When I had come to more, Mom and Kyle took me upstairs where I lay down with Kelly to calm her down more. We woke up the next day around noon feeling very groggy. Kelly was still chained to the bed and her reaction was silly of course. She had said what kind of freaky stuff did we do last night? Mom released Kelly and drove her to the mansion for her to rest. I stayed with Mom at the house resting on the couch because I was so exhausted even though I had sleep. Over the next several days after coming down. I felt exhaustion, some anxiety, and difficulty concentrating. Kelly had the worst effects from coming down she said that she had trouble sleeping, Fatigue, Body and muscle aches. But we both started feeling a lot better after several days. Today is Monday, April 18, 1988; It is my Twentieth birthday... I know right?? It's hard to believe I'm already 20 years old... Time has flown by so fast... Mom and Dad both are sad and happy about me growing up. Mom told me the other day that it didn't matter if I was eighty that I would always be her baby... We both teared up and hugged. My Dad has always told me that I will always be his little girl. Mom and I don't always see eye to eye and that was a great moment between us. I'm in Honors Calculus with Kyle and Kat. Heather's drugs are still around town and they have made their way out of the city and state which makes our job harder. There haven't been many overdoses in a month about two but that's in our town. In the other towns there have been several and the cops have no clue where it's coming from but we do and we can't tell them that. Heather has gotten a seat down from me today like last time. She hasn't said much today cause she knows I just want to reach over and choke the lights out of her but she would love that of course. Karen turned eighteen on March 30th and we all got tickets for the Aerosmith concert at James White Civic Coliseum in the auditorium and we all went the next day. It was so much fun I had always wanted to go to a concert but it was so expensive then but now I have more money and I can do fun things like that. Heather's drugs made an appearance at the concert. We saw several people messed up, some were even passed out in their seats. Later on that day some of the high schoolers from all the high schools in our town came to the college to visit. Karen, Holly, Jimmy, Xander, Dana and Shane are here. Holly had broken up with Shane for cheating on her with Mandi but Shane has been harassing her trying to get her to take him back but she hasn't. I'm at the Student Union eating lunch with Kyle, Jane, Jason, Kelly, Shana, Jacob, Kat, Dakota, Julia, Declan and Natalie when Karen, Holly, Jimmy, Xander, and Dana sit down at our table to talk. Karen and Holly have always been best friends but when Holly was dating Shane they drifted apart because of how controlling Shane was but ever since then they have reconnected. Karen said to us " Heather's drugs are getting out of hand that's all anyone at the high school ever talks about anymore". I said, " It's pretty much the same here if not worse". Kelly scoffs and then says " Back in our day it was all about boozes and weed". Karen, Holly, and Dana giggle at what Kelly said. Jane said playfully to Kelly " Thanks for reminding us how old we are". Kelly said with an evil grin " Well I am the oldest at the table". Natalie said as she giggled evilly " Kelly I've got you by a year". Dakota said " Me too". Kelly said as she giggled evilly " I forgot you two are old". Natalie threw a fry at Kelly as she giggled evilly. Natalie said, " I just turned 22 last month". Dakota said, " I won't be 22 until August". Julia winked at Dakota and then said " That's okay I like an older woman". Everyone started giggling as Dakota blushed. Kelly looked at Dakota and said " How many years are you two apart?" Dakota said " Three". Kelly said with an evil grin " I've always liked being older than my partners". She winks at me. I look away from her as I feel Kyle's hand on my knee. Kyle said to me with a smile " Where do you want to eat for your birthday beautiful?" I thought for a few seconds then said, " I'm not sure". He said " What about Outback it's not far from the apartment?" I said, " Yeah that sounds good". Kyle said to me " We could invite your parents and some friends.. what do you think?" I looked at everyone else and said " Does anyone want to come to eat at Outback tonight for my birthday?" Jane said to me with a smile " I wouldn't miss your birthday for the world". Kelly said, " I could bring Kevyn". I said, " Of course". Shana said, " Jacob and I will come". Dakota said, " Julia and I would but we are going to have dinner with her parents tonight at their house". Kat said " I'm sorry I would too but I have to study". Kelly said to Dakota with a smirk " Meeting the parents?" Dakota gave her a look and then said, " Yeah but not how we want to because they don't know about us or about Julia.. which is fine". She said as kissed Julia. After school Kyle and I drove home to get ready to meet the others at Outback. We met Mom, Dad, Kelly, Kevyn, Austin, Jane, Jason, Shana, Jacob, Debby, Jack, Terri, Don and Jesse at the restaurant. We all had a great time and some great food. Afterward, we took some pictures in the parking lot. I took one with Mom and Dad, several with Kyle, a few with Jane and Shana, a couple with Jesse and Jane, one with Mom, Debby, Terri, one with Kyle while he held Kevyn, one with me, Kyle, Jason, and Jane then one with Kelly. Everyone drove home for the rest of the day. Kyle and I were tired from school and full from the good food plus I had just got off my period yesterday so we just cuddled in our bed watching movies for the rest of the night.
