Chapter 67

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

It's been a week since Victoria shot Kelly in that parking garage on Campus. She has been bedridden cause the bullets were enhanced with silver but something more was added because Kelly is very sick. We aren't sure what else was put in them. We all know one person who is capable of doing that and it's Heather. Remember?? She is studying to be a Chemist. She studies the properties of natural and man-made chemicals and uses the information to understand how some chemicals may be modified to make them more useful and develop the methods to make the modifications. I've always thought Kelly was somewhat invincible, especially after seeing her get decapitated. But seeing her so helpless like this reminds me that she is still human too. She may not be as sensitive to things like most humans. But she's still a person with a beating heart. If I was shot with those bullets I'd probably be dead right now because my body wouldn't be strong enough to fight it off and I sure as hell couldn't survive being decapitated. Kelly was so evil back then when we were dating... It was like staring into the eyes of a soulless being.. when her humanity came back she could be great at times.. She could be and has been a decent person. Austin and Mandi haven't left her side they sent Kevyn to spend a while with Ted and Betty Austin's grandparents. Austin stays with Kelly all day while Mandi is at the College taking her classes then when she gets home Austin stays at the mansion and helps around the house with chores while Mandi stays by Kelly's side. She hasn't been able to eat or drink anything without throwing it back up. Dad had ended up with a box of medical supplies that had everything to start an IV with and there were several bags of fluids. So Debby and Mom hooked Kelly up to the IV and now she has fluids going into her body to keep her from getting dehydrated but it's not making her any better. It's Monday, February 16, 1987; I'm following behind Kyle in my car as we drive down to Kelly's mansion to check on her as we have been in the mornings and after school. As Kyle turns right into the gravel driveway his grey 1969 Dodge Charger roars as it drives over the gravel as I pull in my black 1968 Z28 Camaro roars. We park our cars out in front of the house and shut them off. As we walk up to the house Kyle and I hold hands smiling at each other. He lets go of my hand as we walk up on the porch he knocks on the first red door of the mansion it's a double door. We hear footsteps and the locks turning from inside. The door opens revealing Austin We both look up at him because he's so tall he is 6'4". He moves to the side and we walk inside as he closes the door and locks it. He walks through the foyer and turns right into the living room. That has a black sectional couch to the right as you walk in. It sits in front of two double windows with black curtains that touch the wooden window sill. In the left corner by the two windows, there is a Stereo system with two huge speakers just like the one that was at Austin's mansion where Kelly lived with him. Beside the Stereo system is a floor TV with a VHS player on top. On top of the VHS is a tape rewinder They are safer to use so that the VHS doesn't rewind your tape too fast and damage it and if that happens you have to go out and replace that tape which is about $50 bucks. As we walk into the Conservatory we see Kelly laying in a hospital bed hooked to that IV bag that hangs from the metal pole like the ones from the hospital. She's wearing a dark grey tank top and a pair of grey sleep pants with white drawstrings. She has the covers kicked off and sweat is on her forehead. She starts coughing and it sounds like she is a smoker but she doesn't smoke Cigarettes. As she coughs she tries to raise herself but she's too weak. Austin reaches down and lifts her into a sitting position. The coughing stops and Austin picks up a clear glass with water in it. He said, " Try and take a drink". Kelly said in a hoarse voice " I'm just gonna throw it back up". Austin sets the glass back down on a fold-out tray by the bed. Kelly looks so sick I can see it in her glassy eyes. Kyle and I both walk over to the right side of the bed. Kyle said to Kelly " We came to check on you before we went to school". Kelly said in a hoarse voice " Thank you". The landline starts ringing from the wooden desk in the right corner of the conservatory. Austin walks around the bottom of the bed and behind us. He picked up the receiver and said " Hello?" He listened to the person talk on the phone and then said, " All we can do is try.. Come over after your shift". He hung the phone up and Kelly said in a hoarse voice " Who was that?" Austin walked to the bottom of the bed and said, " It was Terri she has another healing potion to try on you". Kelly said in a sarcastic hoarse voice " I'm sick of trying all these damn potions.. nothing is working".. Austin said, " Kelly we have to get you better if not you could be like this for months.. the faster we get you better the faster Kevyn can come back home". Kelly's eyes started to tear up as she cried. She said in a hoarse voice " I know.. I miss her so much.. but I don't want her to see me like this".. Austin walked around to the other side and sat down on the bed beside Kelly. As they looked at each other Austin said as his eyes teared up " We will find a way to fix this... You are the most powerful demon in the family and we can't afford to have you down.. None of us can". He looks over at Kyle and me after he says that. He smiles at Kelly and places his large hand over her small hand. We hear footsteps coming down the stairs and look up at Mandi walking down into the foyer and the conservatory. Austin gets up and Mandi sits down beside Kelly. She said as she looked at Kelly " I can't stand leaving you".. Kelly said in a hoarse voice " I know but you have to go to class.. we can't afford for both of us to miss classes".. Mandi leaned forward and kissed Kelly softly. They kiss for a couple of seconds then stop. Kelly said in a hoarse voice " Wait until I get better.. I'm attacking you". She said with a wink as Mandi blushed. She smiled and said, " Not if I get you first". She leans forward and kisses Kelly one more time. Kelly grins at Mandi as they stare at each other. She said, " Alright enough mushy stuff.. you three get your asses to school". Kyle and I wave at her as she slowly lays back. Mandi is following me and Kyle through the foyer. We walk outside get in our cars and drive to Finway College.
