Chapter 26

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

Tomorrow is a half day of school then the next is a full day. I'm a Sophomore this year so is Kyle and Jason; Kelly and Jane are Juniors this year. I have decided that I want to go to College and become an Accountant. I know what you are thinking being an Accountant is a stressful job but the pay is great. Accountants make good money they make more than Nurses and that's what my mom is a RN Nurse so is Debby. It will take me four years to get a Bachelor's degree but it will be worth in the end I want to make a good life for myself and for whatever the future may have in store for me. Today is August 8, 1983; it is Jesse's third birthday. Terri and Don have planned a party in their backyard for Jesse and some kids her age. Remember when Kelly and I were at the World's Fair a year ago? Well that was Jesse the toddler that we tracked down to that very same Chuckie E. Cheese. Jesse had learn how to teleport and Jane was watching her that night and freaked out when she seen Jesse not in her bed. Wow it has really been a year since Kelly and I have been together. Well it will be on the 13th of August let's see if she remembers. Kelly and I just pulled up at my house she picked me up from work today. We walk in and upstairs to my room she kicks back on the bed with her arms behind her neck with her shoes on my bed as always. She picks up a magazine and opens it up looking at it as I get my clothes out for the party. As I start undressing from my work clothes she peeks over the magazine at me. I pick up my towel hanging on the dresser handle and wrap it around me. I walk up to the door and open it. I walk across the hall and into the bathroom. I get in and shower after twelve minutes I'm out with the towel around my body. I turn the light off and walk across the hall to my room. As I walk in I look over at Kelly still laying back on the bed. She is asleep snoring softly with the magazine over her face. I dry off a little more and get dressed putting on my clothes then my deodorant and my perfume. I put on my blue jean jacket, a black t-shirt that says Blue Oyster Cult Tour of 1978 my first concert that my parents took me to when I was ten it is also one of my favorites because it's my parents the shirt used to swollow me when I was that age but I eventually grew into it, I put on a pair of dark high waisted blue jeans with my black Nike Pegasus. Kelly is still sleeping I walk up and shake her leg and she grumbles. I take the magazine off her face and roll it up I bonk her on the head with it and she exclaims in surprise swatting the air as I stepped back giggling at her. She gives me a look and raises up She said " And you say I'm an asshole". with sarcasm. . I said with a sarcastic tone " It takes one to know one". I give her a smile. She smiles then said " Come here you sexy little bitch". She reaches out putting her hands on my waist and pulls me closer to her. She's wearing her blue jean jacket, a black t-shirt that says Bad Company straight shooter with the red dice being thrown across a gambling table it's from their 1975 album, a pair of dark high waisted blue jeans and her grey and red Reeboks. She holds me close to her with our bodies pressed up against each other. She said as I looked down at her " Do I need to give you an attitude adjustment before the party?" She said with a smile. Her hands are on my belt right as she goes to unbuckle it. The front door opens down stairs and my mom's voice said " Kim? I'm home". Kelly groans in annoyance, She said " Ugh your mom is a cock blocker". I said " But you don't have a penis." She said " You know what I mean". I give her a kiss and said " Maybe later". with a wink.

We walk downstairs and my mom is hanging her black purse on the railing of the banister. She said " Are you two going to Jesse's birthday party?" I said " Yeah it's at 5:00pm right?" Mom looks at her gold wrist watch and said " It's 4:30pm I'll meet you guys over there". I said " Is Dad not coming?" She said " I'm afraid not sweetie a shipment got delayed two days so he's probably not gonna be home for awhile". Kelly said " Are you sure he's not cheating?" I give Kelly a look and elbow her in the ribs. Mom isn't amused by the bad joke. I said to Mom " She's just joking". I glare at her and Mom said as she brushed it off " Anyways see you there". She gives Kelly a look as we walk out the front door. I close the door and said " You are so not funny. I can't believe you said that to her". Kelly said in a hateful tone " What? she can't take a joke?" I said " That's not something you joke about". Kelly rolls her eyes as we walk down to the car. Of course she'd joke about that I still think she slept with Mandi again but I can't prove it and because she stopped acting weird and I'm tired of worrying about it that's why I slept with Dakota that time. She hasn't talked to me much since I got sucked into that rift with Kelly. She keeps looking over at me as she drives. She said " I didn't mean to upset your mom I really was just joking". I said " I know Kelly but you shouldn't joke about that especially to my mom". She said " Alright I won't anymore not about that. It was a bad joke." After a few minutes of silence She said " I know I have made some mistakes but I really do love you Kim I just want you to know that". I feel her hand on my knee and I look over at her. I do feel guilty about Dakota but then again I don't because I have Mandi in the back of my mind. I'm not a cheater it's just not in me even though Kelly doesn't deserve me most of the time but it's still not right to cheat the first time I did with Jane but I didn't do it to hurt Kelly but with Dakota I did. I said " We've both made mistakes but no relationship is perfect". Kelly said " I'm trying to be better Kim it's just really hard for me". I said " I know". Kelly said " And I swear on my mom that I didn't sleep with Mandi or anyone else other than Kyle". I know she doesn't lie when it comes to her mom so I do believe her. I said " I probably shouldn't have over reacted I'm bad at that". Kelly said " Firecracker". I said " I know I have a bad temper but yours is worse than mine". Kelly said " Ehh.. we are about the same". I give a look and said " Just the other day we were at the skating rink and that nerdy kid kept flirting with us and you gave him a wedgie then put him in the trashcan". Kelly said " That's because he kept messing with us and I had enough besides he was ugly as hell with those big buck teeth and those hideous clothes he looked like a blind Sunday school teacher dressed him". I'm trying not to laugh but it's hard not too. I said as I giggled " Asshole". She smiles at me as she drives.
