Chapter 102

P.O.V/ Kim Stevens:

 Two Days later..

It's been two days since Kyle and I married at our house. Afterward, we packed a bag, drove up to Sevierville, and rented a hotel room for the weekend. We checked into the Gatlinburg Inn Hotel, which was built in 1937. Kyle and I had a wonderful time up here; we went out to eat at a nice Steak house restaurant and walked around the town sightseeing and shopping in the thousands of stores along the Gatlinburg strip. Today is Monday, May 1, 1995. We woke at 4:30 am to shower, pack our things, and check out. We both have to work today. It takes about an hour to drive from Gatlinburg back down to Knoxville. We made it to the house at 6:55 am. While I fed Lance, Kyle carried things in. While we were gone, Jesse gave Lance food and water. We left our luggage in the bedroom and the things we bought up there to put away later. We changed into our work clothes and headed out the door. We are in the driveway kissing. I hold my arms around Kyle's neck while he holds my face. He smiles at me. He said, " I love you so much, Baby". I smiled. " I love you so much, Handsome." He kissed me again and then said, " Have a great day at work, Mrs. Stevens." I said with a smile, " I love the sound of that." We get in our cars and start them up. We pull out of the driveway, going the opposite way. I have to wait for our marriage license to arrive so I can start changing my name from Kimberly Ann Austin to Kimberly Ann Stevens. It takes about two weeks, so I'm not a Stevens until then. I have to change my Social Security card and my driver's license to match my married name. On the drive to work, I could only smile because I was so happy. I married Kyle, and I'm Pregnant with our child. It's all we've both dreamed about for a few years now. Everything is falling into place. Jason and Jane are married, and they now have Nicole and Eric. Shana is pregnant with Dani, and her due date is May 4. Kat and James have been trying to have kids lately. Karen has said she would love kids but doesn't want to have them because she's always away because of her job. Shane is raising Adrian while Holly is deployed with Karen. The last time Holly was here, she mentioned that being away from Adrian was hard for her. Because that leaves Shane alone to take care of Adrian. Having that kind of job is tough because you are away from your family and friends most of the time. But Karen and Holly are brave for doing what they do daily, and I respect them for their service. I think about them every day. Hoping and praying they are safe... They face danger every day like Jimmy does. He's a full-time Cop now. It's my lunch break, and I'm at the café with K.J. and Dakota. We are waiting for a waiter to come take our orders. I'm telling them about Kyle's honeymoon and mine. I said as I giggled, " We went in a Funhouse full of mirrors, and Kyle ran right into a mirror.. I laughed so hard I almost peed". They both bust out laughing. Dakota smiled. " I'm glad you two had fun." K.J. said. " Kelly and Macy didn't follow you up there, did they?" I said, " No, thank god.. I think they knew better.. Did anything happen while we were gone?" Dakota said, " Jesse got into a fistfight at the park yesterday." I said, " She did? With who?" Dakota said, " Terri said it was a group of older kids. Jesse and Brandon were down there for the day while Terri and Don watched Sam and Riley to give them a break. Jesse said that one of the older girls has been flirting with Brandon a lot, and he's told her that he's dating Jesse, but the girl doesn't seem to care. While they were down there, the girl boldly hit on him in front of Jesse, and she told the girl to get lost. Jesse said they went to walk away, and the girl dumped a Cherry Icee down her back". Icees are slushie drinks that have about three flavors: Cherry, Blue Raspberry and Coke. Dakota said, " Terri said Jesse lost her temper and decked the girl." I said " Did Terri ground her?" Dakota said " No because Jesse didn't start the fight the girl did." I said " I would have punched her too.. That Tiffany girl dumped a vanilla shake on my head at Cardin's drive-in back when we were in High school, then I dumped a chocolate one down the front of her shirt". Dakota and K.J. are giggling. I said, " I also got into a fist fight after that." K.J. said " Is that what started the fight?" I said " Pretty much. Still, I was actually taking up for Kelly... Tiffany kept touching her and me, being Kelly's girlfriend. At that time, I said something, and that's when she dumped the shake on my head". Dakota is giggling; she said, " I was there. remember that was when the school had that dance, and the teachers drew our names out. Kelly ended up going with Jason, Kyle went with Jane, you went with Patrick Davis and I went with that annoying dude named Lashawn". I giggled " Yeah that was crazy". Dakota said " As much as I hate to say it Kelly was actually good that day". I said " For the most part". A female waitress walks up with a small pad of paper. She said with a smile " What can I get you?" Dakota said " I'll have a slice of Pepperoni Pizza, a small bag of Pizzeria chips and can of Mountain Dew". K.J. said " I'll have the Cobb salad with ranch minus the blue cheese, a small bag of Pretzels and can of Dr. Pepper". I said " I'll have the Italian salad with ranch, a small bag of Cool ranch Doritos and a can of Wild Cherry Pepsi". She wrote that down and said " I'll have that out here in a few minutes". She walks away to the restaurant. I spot Kelly and Mandi sitting at the table a few down from ours. I said as I saw Mandi " When did she start working here?" Dakota looks back and K.J. looks over at them. Dakota looks back at me and said " I heard she transferred over here like Declan". I said " She's doing it to get close to Kelly again". Dakota said " Weren't they engaged a few years ago?" I said " Yeah until Mandi cheated on Kelly with Shane, Holly's husband now". Dakota said " That's right I remember now.. I can't believe Holly took Shane back,". I said, " He's an asshole.. but he seems to have calmed down over the past few years". K.J. said, " So Kelly didn't do anything wrong?" I said, " Surprisingly, no, She didn't. Mandi did her wrong, and I'll say that". The waitress brought our food out, and we ate our lunch and continued talking. A little while later, we were done and paid for our food. Kelly and Mandi walked by the table as we were standing up. They both stare at us with evil glares. We walked back down to the office and got back to work. Around 4:30 pm, I'm turning off the computer and putting away my things for the day. Darla appears in the chair in front of my desk. She's see-through. She smiled at me evilly and said, " So the honeymoon is over?" I rolled my eyes, and Darla said, " Do you really expect to live happily ever after? That only happens in the movies". I ignored her as I continued getting ready to leave. Darla grins evilly and then disappears from the chair. I put my bag on my shoulder and walked to the stairs. I walk down and out the doors, headed to my car. Walking down the sidewalk, I pull out my cell phone and call Terri. It rings a couple of times until she answers. " Hello?" I said with a smile. " Hey.. mind if I come over to visit?" Terri said, " Sure.. see you soon". I leave the office and drive home. I arrived home at 5:24 pm and parked my car in the driveway. I went inside and fed Lance, then went upstairs to shower and change clothes. Afterward, I walk down the stairs into the foyer. I'm wearing a grey t-shirt that says AC DC, a black Suede leather belt, a pair of low-rise Lee blue jeans, and a pair of Navy blue New Balance. I get in my car and drive to Terri's house, which is a few streets over. I parked my car in front of the house. Terri's Honda is parked in the driveway. I turned my car off and pulled the keys out of the ignition. I open the door and get out, closing the door behind me. I walk up to the front porch from the sidewalk through the middle of the yard. I ring the doorbell, and a few seconds pass. Then, the door opens, revealing Terri. She's holding Sam in her right arm. I walk inside, and she closes the door. Sam is in a light blue onesie. She has a blue pacifier in her mouth, and she looks at me with her brown eyes. I spot Riley in the playpen playing with some baby toys. I said, " Where's Jesse?" Terri said as she held Sam. " They walked up to the convenience store for snacks." I look at Sam, and she smiles and then makes a baby noise. I said, " She's glued to you". Terri looks at her, and Sam looks up at her. Terri smiles and kisses her on the head. Terri looked at me and said, " She's a Nana's girl, that's for sure". We walk over to the couch and sit down. Terri has Sam on her lap, facing her. Sam plays with the end of Terri's brown hair. I said, " Dakota told me that Jesse got into a fight at the park yesterday." Terri said, " Yeah, apparently, an older girl has been flirting with Brandon.. Jesse said they went to walk away, and the girl dumped a Cherry Icee down her back". I said, " I don't blame her for decking the girl." Terri said, " I would have done the same thing.. Jesse was wearing a white shirt that said Poetic Justice with Tupac on the front.. Jesse was so pissed". I said, " Did the Icee come out of the shirt?" Terri said, " Yeah, I had to soak it in the sink for a while, then wash it." We started hearing what sounded like a group of kids outside chanting. We stand up and turn around, looking out the window behind the couch. In the front, Two white girls who are older teenagers are both coming at Jesse swinging punches as she comes back at them swinging. Brandon is in a fistfight with some older boys in the street. Terri quickly walks over to the playpen sitting Sam down inside beside Riley. Don walks downstairs, and Terri says, " Stay in here with the kids." Terri runs up to the door and opens it. I follow her out. Jesse exclaims as she's punched in the mouth by the girl. The girl goes to swing again, and Terri dashes up, catching her fist in her hand. The girl is the same height as Terri. She stares at her as Terri lets her hand go. Terri said with a bit of an attitude, " I suggest you all leave now before I call the police." The girl laughed and said, " You don't scare me, old lady." Terri said, " How old are you?" The girl said with a smirk, " Eighteen." Terri said with sarcasm, " Really?" She exclaims as she decks the girl straight in the nose. She exclaims in pain as she stumbles back with her nose pouring blood. Terri said, " Don't you ever put your hands on my daughter again!" The girl smiled, and her eyes turned red. Terri is standing in front of Jesse. I walk out to the street and help Brandon off the ground as the older boys stare at me with red eyes. I walk Brandon up to the porch and stand there with him. Terri said as she looked at the kids, " Demons, I see.. well, guess what? If all of you don't get off my property, I will vanquish every one of you". They all just laugh, White lights start swirling on Terri's body, and her wings expand from her shoulder blades and flap. The others get scared and back up. The girl smiles evilly. She said, " Guardian-Witches?? Momma has some power.. how much?" Terri said as she stared at the girl. " Wanna find out?" The girl said, " Another time.. See you at school, Jessica". Jesse rolled her eyes and said with an attitude, " It's Jesse". They walk away and cross the street. Terri's wings go back into her shoulder blades. She turns around and looks at Jesse. She said with a look of worry, " Are you mad?" Terri said, " No, Jesse, I'm not mad.. you didn't start it". Jesse said, " You taught me better than that.. to start a fight". Terri said, " If you ever started a fight, I'd ground you until College." Jesse giggled as Terri smiled at her. She said, " Come on, let's get inside". Jesse told Terri, " That was cool how you scared them." We walked inside. Jesse and Brandon sit down on the couch, and Terri heals Jesse's busted lip and Brandon's broken nose. Jesse gets up from the couch and walks over to the playpen, getting Sam out while Brandon holds Riley. Jesse said, " They said Kelly hired them.. now I have demons in school with me". Terri said, " Just stand your ground and if they try anything, avoid a fight in school.. but if you're outside of school, ring that bitch's bell". We giggle as they stand there holding Sam and Riley while Don cooks dinner in the kitchen.
