Chapter 80

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

Three Months later..

Summer is over but it was a great one, Kyle and I had a lot of fun on his birthday in May. We went out to eat with his parents at the restaurant called Calhoun's On The River. It's over by the campus on the Tennessee River. It also is behind the City County building which is the Jail. Roy made the joke that it would be bad to get into a fight here because it also is a bar that you would get hauled across the street to the drunk tank. After dinner with his parents that day Kyle and I went out shopping at East Town Mall. When we were about to graduate from Highschool. Miller's was being torn out and replaced with the department store called Hess's. Then we went to Kelly's mansion where she threw a party for him. Austin had Kevyn for the weekend so we all had drinks and hung out. Jane got a little drunk and was being silly. The next day at school she was so embarrassed and apologized for her drunk behavior because Jason, Kyle and Jacob were teasing her about giving me and Shana a lap dance while she was drunk. I wasn't upset neither was Shana cause we both know when she's had a few drinks she can get pretty silly sometimes especially with me. This year it's my Junior year of College. Karen, Holly, Dana, Jimmy and Shane have joined us this year for their Freshmen years. Karen and Holly are in The ROTC Program at the College where they earn their degrees through the program. They have to do Drill marching and physical training which is pretty tough and they take classes based on the program. Dana is studying for a degree in Dental Hygiene for two years, Jimmy is studying for a four year degree in Criminal Justice like Jason but Jimmy is wanting to become a cop so does Julia who is also studying in Criminal Justice, Shane is studying to become an HVAC tech like James which will take him two years but he only came here to follow Holly around who hasn't took him back. Heather was unconscious for two whole weeks after her battle with Shana. We heard that the new Kappa Sisters Heather had created beforehand kept her locked up in her room until she woke up. She woke up on May 6th. Shana didn't expect her to be unconscious for that long maybe a few hours but whatever Shana did put Heather in a magically induced coma. Heather got behind on the last semester and had to make up for that. But when she woke up she wasn't angry she was happy which was strange because she just got behind two weeks in her classes that would make anyone mad. Kat was better after Austin gave her that blood healing potion and Karen was fine after spending a few days in the hospital because she was slipped some of that Elixir LSD possibly by one of Shane's friends. Karen now has a small scar under her lower lip directly in the middle from where her bottom teeth with through her skin. It's short but visible she had four stitches. Dakota graduated in June at Thompson Boling Area where she received her four-year Bachelor's degree in Accounting she got a job at H & R Block a Tax Preparation company where she works as a Tax Accountant which is the direction I'm headed so we may cross paths in work one day. Declan and Kathy started dating after she found me and Kelly downtown when Heather drugged us. Declan was at the same bar as her and helped her with me and Kelly until Mom and the others got there. Declan said they hit it off quickly and that Kathy doesn't mind him being shorter than her. Remember Declan is 4'8" shorter than Mandi who is 4'11" and Kathy is about 5'7" so she's fairly tall but they make a cute couple. There is a rumor going around that some students have been selling the Elixir drugs on campus. But we don't know if Heather has put them up to it or not. It's Monday August 15, 1988; I have all new classes except for one which is Financial Reporting again with Professor Patricia Knox. This year I have Financial Management with Professor Caroline Steele, She's a white woman in her early forties around Austin or Debby's age. Then I have Cost Management with Professor Thomas Bennett he's an Elderly mixed man that has to be at least eighty. I have Information Management with Professor Helen Connolly she's an older white woman in her mid sixties. Then I have Demand Management with Professor John Stewart he is a mixed man that is in his late forties or early fifties. I'm in Financial Management with Kat, This year Kyle doesn't have a class with me sadly and neither does Heather which I'm happy about. Kat and I have three classes together this semester we've grown closer as friends since highschool. We didn't really know each other well when we were freshmen's and that's why we didn't hang out back then. Kat, Shana and Terri are my bestfriends but Jane will always be my number one bestfriend. Terri is a little different because of our 13 year age difference so in way our relationship is more of her being like an older sister/mentor. Of course my Mom and Debby are also my bestfriends but they each have a different meaning. Mom and Debby are more like Moms, Terri like an older sister. Jane, Shana and Kat are like sisters my age. As for the other girls like Dakota, Karen, Holly, Dana and Julia they are my close friends like Jason, James, Jacob, Xander, Jimmy and Declan are. As for Kelly and Mandi I think of them more like an acquaintances cause I could never think of think of them as close friends. I can never let my guard down with either one of them because in the end they can't be trusted because of their evil natures but I tolerate Kelly for Kyle so he can get to know Kevyn. Kat and I are sitting next to each other. She's in the last desk of the first row and I'm in the last desk of the second row. After doing some reading and notes for most of class Professor Steele gave us all permission to chat among ourselves until class was over in about twenty minutes. Kat said " So everyone keeps talking about going to Boomsday next month. People are shooting off a ton of Fireworks over at Henley Street Bridge". I said " I heard they started it last year and there was tons of people". Kat said " Wanna go?" with a smile. I said " Definitely it's a Friday night too". Kat said with a smile " I'm thinking we get a bottle of something and enjoy the fireworks". I said with a smile " Sounds fun to me". Kat said " Next year when I turn 21 I'm definitely going to a bar to have my first legal drink". I said " Kyle and I went with Jane and Jason to her first bar this June when she turned 21 it was a lot of fun". Kat said " Which one did you go to?" I said " It was The Olde Tavern on the strip it was pretty calm not like some of the bars on the strip in Happy Holler". Kat said " Yeah I've heard some crazy shit about the strip back in the day". I said " My mom said in 60s and 70s it was way worse but since the mid to late 80s it's calmed down a lot there". Later that day on our way to the Student Union we see those rude Frat guys the ones that Kelly pissed off last time when they were messing with me. They are standing on the bridge drinking from a brown paper bag that has a liquor bottle inside it. They see us and smile. The one that always wears a green hat said to " Want a drink?" Kat said with sarcasm " No thanks". He said " Come on.. maybe you and your friend can give us a show if you know what I mean?". He said with a perverted grin. Kat said " In your dreams loser! I'm Straight as a board". He snickered " Flat as a board too". Kat isn't flat she is built just like me. Same height and weight we even have the same bra size which is a 32 C. I said to them " Keep dreaming assholes!". He scoffs as we keep walking to the Student Union. As we stand in the line Kat said to me " I don't look flat do I?" I said " No of course not you have a great body". She blushes a little then said " I do?" I said " Yeah totally you are built like me but you aren't flat don't listen to that prick". Kat said " You have more muscle than me.. maybe I should work out more". I said " Have people made of you in the past for your body?" Kat said " Yeah.. in middle school they called me Flat Kat". I said " Kids are cruel.. Kat you are so beautiful.. don't ever let anyone tell you that you're not". She can't help but blush at the sweet compliment. She said with a smile " Thanks". I said " You're Welcome". Kat said " I can't believe those rude ass Frat guys though why do all guys want to see two women together?" I said " Cause it's their dream.. but some are more respectful about it". Kat said " I bet you get that a lot because you're Bisexual". I said " Sometimes.. it's no secret that both Kyle and Jason would be totally fine with me and Jane hooking up". We both giggle then Kat said " Wait.. didn't you and Jane hook up when you were teens?" I said as I blushed " Yeah.. she wanted to try it". Kat is giggling at me blushing. She said " How was it?" I said " I'm not gonna lie and say that I didn't enjoy it cause I did.. it was fun but Jane isn't Bisexual and I don't have those kind of feelings for her". Kat said " I can't bring myself to try it.. I don't think I'll like it". I said " You don't know until you try it". Kat said " How did Jane feel about it?" I said " She said it was a lot of fun but personally not her cup of tea". Kat said " But when she's drunk she flirts with girls". she said as she giggled. I said as I blushed " Yeah she does.. I'm mostly the one she flirts with". Kat said jokingly " Let's just say that when Jane is drunk she is a little gay for you". We both giggle and I said " Me and her always say that messing around". We get our food and sit down at the table not too long after Kyle and the others join us.
