Chapter 86

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

Four Months later..

It has been four months since Donna pulled that stunt taking Debby's soul and leaving her dead. That was a terrifying and stressful ordeal. Debby was dead on the ground and we were all freaking out. Terri spent three days searching for her in Limbo. She found Debby with her parents Glen and Ellen. Her Dad died when she was ten and her Mom died when she was twenty-one, Jane never knew her grandparents. They were Spirits and we all can see them except humans can't like Kyle and the others. David Lawson was there as one too and they were telling Debby that it wasn't her time yet and that her future still awaits her. Glen and Ellen told Debby they loved her and that they would see her one day. Debby seems different since then she has said that it made her feel better knowing that something is waiting on the other side when we leave this earth. Today is Monday, October 22, 1990; I got up and got ready for work this morning. Kyle missed work because of the rain and if it rains too much it's difficult for them to work on their projects and rain poses a safety risk making slippery surfaces and reducing visibility. The presence of water can also affect the stability of scaffolding and temporary structures. I'm at my desk working, I look up and see Lori standing in the middle of the office. She's talking to my boss Nancy Keller, she's a white woman in her late forties. Nancy walks away and Lori sees me. She smiles as she walks down to my desk that sits in front of three windows. She stood in front of my desk and said " I'm so proud of you for landing this job". I smiled and said " Thank you". Lori said, " I was talking to Nancy and she said that you picked up very fast during your training". I said, " Yeah I'm a fast learner". Lori said, " I'll let you get back to work though.. see you another time". I smiled and said " Bye Lori". She said with a smile " Bye Sweetie". Around 1:00 pm Dakota and I left the office for lunch this time we went to Chick-fil-A. It's a popular restaurant that opened in 1967 but in the late 80's there were a few built here in town. Dakota is telling me about a girl that she went on a few dates with. Dakota said, " She seemed fine at first then on the fifth date I go to her house to pick her up and when she gets in the car I can immediately tell she's high". I said " What was it?" Dakota said, " LSD.. she even offered me some". I said " How high was she?" Dakota said, " As high as Cheech and Chong when they got pulled over by the police and Chong had to swallow that LSD, and he got really messed up". She's talking about the 1978 movie Cheech and Chong up in Smoke. We can't help but giggle. I said a line from the movie as I giggled " Keep on knocking but you can't come in". Dakota said as she giggled " I tried to convince her to go back in her house but she insisted she was fine so I drove her to Burger King and we went inside." She started giggling again as her face turned red in embarrassment. Dakota said, " Next thing I know she's asleep on her burger". We bust out laughing. Good thing we are sitting outside cause we are laughing loudly. I said as giggled " My ribs hurt". Dakota said as she giggled " I have never been so embarrassed in my life." I said as I giggled " Oh god that's funny". Dakota said, " I woke her up and drove her back home.. I didn't realize it but she had a pickle on her face but before I could tell her she got out of the car". I said as I giggled " I bet she won't be getting a call back". Dakota said, " Hell no.. That date was a disaster". she said as she giggled I said, " It happens everyone has a few bad dates in their lives". We walked back to the office and got back to work. At 5:00 pm I left the office and headed home for the day. I got home at 5:30 pm because of traffic downtown was insane as always. Before Dinner, I showered then Kyle and I cooked some Steaks and made some Steak fries, made some baked Asparagus. After dinner we went out grocery shopping and got home at 9:00 pm I was tired so we went upstairs to our room and got ready for bed. I had told him about the date Dakota went on and we busted out laughing as he drove to Walmart. We put in Cheech and Chong up in smoke to watch before bed but twenty minutes into the movie I passed out so Kyle turned it off and cuddled me as he fell asleep.
