Chapter 57

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

Three weeks later it's Thursday May 15, 1986; It's Kyle's eighteenth birthday he was a little paranoid about me going to jail like Jane did that time but nothing happened thank god cause a Statutory rape charge is not good at all on your record and you are put on a Sex Offender list because of it. Jane didn't get put on it because they erased the charge from her record. I have been saving more money to buy an apartment for me and Kyle once he turned eighteen cause we want to have our own place. I have been talking to my parents about it for several months now and they are sad to see me go but are happy for me at the same time. I have applied for a Bank Teller job at the local bank all they need is for me to get my high school diploma for me to start. I'll be graduating next month on the 18th with Kyle and Jason. Speaking of Jason he's taking a different route to College he's working with the agency and they are putting him through College to obtain a four year Criminal Justice degree to be a Private Investigator but that is his cover for the human world so he can go out and hunt demons and other beings. The rest of us don't have to have that degree unless we want it the agency accepts any type of degree. Kyle is close to buying a new car he said he will be able to buy one in August before we start College. My last day at East Town is May 17th. Ashley and Natalie are still gonna be working there for a while. Ashley is a Freshman in College and Natalie is a Sophomore they are studying for a Business degree like Kelly and Mandi are. The opening night for Top Gun is tomorrow so Kyle and I are going to see it with Jane, Jason, Kelly, Mandi, Kat, James, Karen, Jimmy, Xander and Dana. Shana and Jacob were gonna come too but they have too much studying and homework to do so does Dakota I've not got to see her much but she will get a break once Summer starts up. Shane and Holly have been standoffish ever since the night Shane smacked her at David's house causing a fight between him, Kyle and the other guys then me and Shane got into a fist fight because he attacked me. Holly isn't the one being standoffish it's Shane and he's making her stay away from us. I still worry for Holly because she's in an abusive relationship with someone who is never gonna change and will continue to hurt her both physically and emotionally but she refuses to walk away because she loves him. I just got done fixing my hair, I walk over to the back of my door and hang my towel on the hook I gently push the door back and walk across the hallway to the bathroom where I wash my hands. As I wash my hands I'm looking in the mirror. I spot a few grey hairs in my bangs to the left side where I part my hair. I turn off the water and dry my hands on the hand towel. I examine the grey hairs as I'm looking I spot more at the ends of my hair entangled in my waves. Why do I already have grey hair?? I'm only eighteen.. I thought this happened when you're old. I walk out of the bathroom and into my room picking up my keys and my beeper off my nightstand I walk back out and down the stairs into the foyer. I turn left walking down the hallway and into the kitchen. Mom is at the counter pouring herself a cup of coffee. I walk up to the fridge and open it pulling out a bottle of water. Mom turns around and I hold the door open for her as she reaches in grabbing the half gallon of milk. She turns around and opens it pouring a little in her coffee cup as she's doing this I'm taking a drink of my water. She turns around and puts it back and closes the door. She takes a drink of her coffee and sees my facial expression. She said " Honey is something wrong?" She sits her cup down on the counter. I said " I found some grey hairs just a few minutes ago.. is that normal for an eighteen year old to grey that early?" Mom smiles and said " It's perfectly normal". I said " It is? no offense but I thought that happened when you get old?" Mom giggles softly and said " It doesn't mean you're old Kim." I said " How old were you when you found your first ones?" Mom thinks then She said " I was about twenty. even Terri has grey in her hair she too found her first ones at eighteen". I said " I figured I would grey in my forties since I'm sort of a blonde". Mom said " You're a dirty blonde like your dad". I said " Do I look like him or you?" I said with a smile. She said " I see a little of both of us but you look just like my mother". I said " It's like looking in a mirror isn't it?" Mom said " Yeah sometimes I have to do a double take when I see you at distance". We smile at each other and Mom said " When's your last day at the mall?" I said " The 17th then after I graduate I'll be starting my new job at the bank as a Teller". Mom said " I still can't believe you are already graduating and moving out". she said with a sad expression on her face. I walk up to her and I said " Don't worry I won't become a stranger". Mom said " You better not. You are not too old for me to kick your ass". She said with a playful grin. I said being cocky " I think I can take you". I said with a playful grin. I turn around to walk off and she zooms past me standing in the doorway of the entrance to the hallway. She said as she looked down at me slightly " Is that a challenge Kimberly?" she said with a grin. I giggle softly and said " Mom I'm not fighting you". Mom said " Who said anything about fighting? We can Spar like they do in Karate". I can't help but giggle. I said " You're serious?" She said " We use to when you were little I was going easy on you back then". I said " Oh so now you really want to take me on?" I said playfully. She said " Why not? it will be fun besides we know how to be careful and not hurt each other". I said with a smile " You're on". We shake hands and Dad is walking down the hallway behind Mom. He said with a smile " What are you two up to?" Mom turns around standing beside me as we both look up at Dad who stands at 5'11" and weighs 172 lbs. My mom is just a little bigger than me but not by much at all. She's 5'3" and she weighs 138 lbs. I'm 5'2" and I weigh 133 lbs. now. I said " Mom has challenged me to a Karate match". Dad looks at Mom and giggles. She said " It will be fun". I said to Mom " Where are we gonna go? cause I don't want to in the backyard and one of us land in a pile of dog crap". Mom and Dad giggle then Dad said " There's a gym down the road with a wrestling ring my buddy William owns it I can give him a call and ask if we can use the ring". Mom said " I've never been a ring". I said " Me either". Mom said to me playfully " I'm so whoop you". I said in a playful way " We'll see about that". Dad giggles as he looks at us with a grin. He said " Just promise me you won't kill each other". Mom said " We won't". I look at my Rolex and it's 7:18am I said " I gonna go". We all walk down the hallway and in the foyer. I get my backpack off the coat rack and walk up to the door. I turn around and Mom and Dad are standing in the foyer. Mom is infront of Dad as he stands behind her with his hands on her waist. Mom said " What time is Kyle's party?" I said " We're gonna head over to Kelly's after school so he can see Kevyn before Austin comes to get her for a few days so Kelly and Mandi can catch up on their classes at the College he's bringing her back Monday". Dad said " I heard Kelly and Mandi are a couple is that true?" I get slightly nervous hoping they don't know about me and Dakota. I said " Yeah it's true". Mom doesn't say anything but she has a confused expression on her face. Dad said " Does that bother you that their.." Mom said " Gay." Dad said " Yeah that's the word". I said " They're actually Bisexual". Mom and Dad both have an interested expression on their faces they really don't know much about this and it shows but Mom's facial expressions is what scares me the most. I said " No it doesn't bother me at all that they are together". Mom said " That's good sweetie". Dad said " So is Mandi the guy or Kelly?" Mom playfully swats him in the arm and he exclaims in slight pain. Mom said as she giggled " David". I can't help but giggle a little at the silly question he doesn't mean anything by it he's just curious. I said " I don't think it works that way Dad". I said with a giggle. Mom said " Bye Honey have a good day". I said " I will". I open the door and walk out closing it behind me.
