Chapter 25

P.O.V/ Kim Austin:

I wake up in Dakota's bed with her and she's asleep so I quietly get up and gather my clothes from the floor. I look at the clock on her night stand it's 10:28 pm we left Kelly's at 8:30 pm. As I'm getting dressed I hear Dakota inhale. I look back and she's raising up with the white sheet against her. She said " Were you planning on saying goodbye before you leave?" I slide my blue Van Halen shirt on then my blue jean jacket and said " I just didn't want to wake you". Dakota turns on the bed side lamp and reaches down in the floor for her clothes. She stands up letting the sheet fall to the ground and starts getting dressed as I'm fixing my hair in front of her dresser that has a mirror on the wall I glance at her. After I was done I turn around and she's buckling her belt back. I said " About what we did".. She cuts me off " I know it can't happen again". I give her a look and said " If you'll let me finish. I was gonna say I don't regret it". Dakota doesn't look so sure. I said " What's wrong?" She said " I just wish we could be together". That caught me off guard. I said " You want to be with me?" Dakota is standing right in front of me. She said " Yeah but as long as Kelly is around it will never happen plus Kyle". I said " I'm not gonna lie and say that I don't like Kyle because I do a lot but he's with Kelly and I don't want to put him in danger by trying anything with him". Dakota said " You are in love with Kyle and Kelly.. you don't have room for me in your heart". I said " I do like you too". She said " Yeah but compare to them I'm nothing". I said " I'm sorry you feel that way". Dakota said " You can't pick and choose Kim one day it will come down to who do you want to be with more Kelly?? or Kyle?? and are you gonna be able to decide?" All of this is overwhelming. I said " I really don't know right now." Dakota said " When you aren't so confused let me know until then we can't see each other".. I said " Dakota.. are you saying that you don't want to be my friend anymore?" She said " No.. I meant we can't sleep together anymore.. It's too much on my mind knowing that you are confused and stuck in between Kelly and Kyle.. once I graduate I'm off to College and you probably won't be seeing me for a long time".. I feel my eyes filling up with tears. Dakota said " I'm sorry it has to be that way I'm just protecting myself". I said " No.. it's okay I understand.. I'm sorry Dakota".. I teleport out of the apartment and back to my house. I teleported in the foyer and Zeke is on the couch he gets off and walks over to me. I pet him and he walks down the hallway and into the kitchen and up to the back door. I walk down and open it letting him out. I feel a headache coming on I walk over to the fridge and open it pulling out a bottle of water. I walk upstairs to my room and turn the lamp on I sit the bottle of water on the night stand and open the drawer pulling out some Tylenol. I pick up the bottle and open it pouring out two pills in my hand I take them with the water. I take off my clothes and grab my towel off the hook on the back of my door and walk into the bathroom I toss my clothes into the hamper and get in the shower. Twelve minutes later I return to my room and dry off putting on clean clothes. I put on a plain black t-shirt, clean panties, socks and a pair of navy blue sleep pants. All a sudden the lamp on my dresser turns on beside the small TV. I see Kelly sitting in a grey chair against the wall and my throat tightens in fear. She downs the rest of a Coors Banquet beer. She stands up and sits the can on the edge of the dresser with two other empty cans. She points her hand at the door using her telekinesis to close it I hear the lock turn. She walks towards me in a menacing way. My back is against the door as she stares down at me with this evil look in her eyes. She said " Where have you been Kim?" I lied " No where really". Kelly slams her hands on the door by my head and I jump. She said " Now why don't I believe you??" I lied " I took Dakota home and I left". Kelly said with sarcasm " Sure you did.. I know you fucked her". I said in a sarcastic tone " Besides if I did cheat there's no proof". Using her own words against her. Kelly smacks me across the face making my head turn. I look at her and smack her back her head doesn't move. She just laughs evilly. I throw my hand up hitting her in the chest using my telekinetic strike to repel her into the dresser a few feet away. She exclaims at the impact as her back smacks into it knocking over my boom box and some old gymnastics and karate trophies. She growls as she jumps up and comes charging at me like a bull.
