Chapter 105

P.O.V/ Kim Stevens:

One Month later...

Kyle was arrested and charged with attempted murder against Terri. It all happened so fast. We knew there was nothing for the detectives to find, but they did find something. The C-4 and the detonator. Kyle was set up by Kelly. It made to look like he tried to kill Terri. But we all knew that he was innocent. I think Kelly recruited Brianna or one of her friends to plant the C-4 in the car, hoping that it would kill Terri and Jesse. If it hadn't been for Shana having that premonition, we'd be burying Terri, Jesse, and Brandon. The place Shana was working shut down. The owner was caught embezzling money, so she applied for a job at Finway High as the school therapist and to keep an eye on Jesse and Brandon because of Brianna and her gang. She started a little while after Kyle was arrested. His bond was $50,000. I had to pull money out of our savings account, which was a lot. We moved into our house in 1990. The owner had a rent-to-own agreement, and recently, that agreement was done, and now we own the house, but we worked hard paying for it and everything else. Bonding Kyle out hit our savings account hard, but I couldn't let him sit in jail. What kind of Wife would I be if I didn't help him when I knew he was innocent. We aren't broke, but we have to put more money back into the account. We've been working on that for the past month, and the money is slowly getting back to where we had it. The detectives are still lurking around, following Kyle and Terri. They had Kyle retake the polygraph test, and he passed. The only reason he failed the first one was because he was nervous because of how much pressure they put on him, and telling him they thought he tried to kill someone he loves really upset him. Kyle and Terri have grown closer since then. They have always been close, but this brought them even closer. They went out for lunch last week, and the detectives followed them. The next day, they questioned Kyle about it. They asked him if there was "more" to his and Terri's relationship, insinuating that they could have been having an affair, and maybe that's why he would want her dead so his wife and Terri's husband don't find out. Kyle got upset and told them to stop fishing for something to find that he and Terri weren't sleeping together. When he told Terri and me that we thought those detectives were insane, Terri was pissed that they even went there. I thought that theory was ridiculous. They were running out of things to come up with. Because of the explosion and Terri almost being killed, they are suspicious, and they have the right to because that's their job, but they are at a dead end and need to move on, but they aren't. Terri said that they couldn't figure out how she escaped without any major injuries other than a slightly ruptured eardrum, but being what she is, a Guardian-Witch, she isn't a normal human, which means a normal person would probably be dead because Terri is faster, stronger, and more durable than normal humans. Her ear is better now, but she can't hear clearly like she did before, so if you don't speak loud enough, she can't hear you. Today is Monday, October 16, 1995. The alarm clock went off, and I reached over, turning it off. I hear Kyle inhale. I look over and see that he's still asleep on his back. I look at my belly, and I'm now six months pregnant. Carly is much more active. I can feel the kicks. They are stronger, and so are the movements. I see my belly move and smile as I put my hand on it. She was rolling over. She's still asleep, too, like her Daddy. She even moves when I talk to her. I hear Kyle inhale, and I look over at him. He opens his eyes and sees me with my hand on my stomach. He smiles. " Is she awake?" I smiled. " She's still sleeping. She'll wake up when I'm going on my lunch break for work". Kyle rolls over on his side and gently places his hand on my belly. He looked at me and said, " You said that you talked to her the other day, and she moved?" I smiled. " Yeah, she did.. she knows my voice.. she also knows yours and Mom's". We haven't had sex a lot now, because Carly is more active. If we were to do it now, she would wake up. So we've been doing it occasionally when she's awake, but we've been doing oral so it doesn't disturb her. Kyle moves closer, laying his head on my chest. He gently rubs my belly. After a few minutes, we got up, made the bed, went downstairs, and made Breakfast. French Toast and scrambled eggs. Afterward, we sat there and finished our coffee. Kyle takes a drink from his white coffee cup. He said, " What time is your appointment today?" I said, " 2:00 pm". He said, " Is Kat still going with you?" I said, " Yeah, she's gonna meet me at the hospital". He said, " I'm glad you have someone to go with you. I wish I could". I put my hand on him, and he looks at me. I said, " It's okay.. you're working. I know you aren't purposely trying not to go.. Kat said James can't come to her appointments either cause of work". Kyle said, " Did he find another place to go? That manager at the apartment complex is a dildo". I giggle as he takes a drink of his coffee. He smiled. " He is.. big time. Kat said he hit on her all the time.." I said, " Yeah, he flirted with Me, Jane, and Dakota as well.. last time he flirted with me, he mentioned he loved to wine and dine me. I told him in his wet dreams that if he hit on me again, it wasn't my boyfriend. He had to worry about that it was me". Kyle was grinning as he looked at me. I said as giggled, " I may have threatened his genitals with my karate." Kyle was laughing as he sat his empty cup down. I said, " He never hit on me again after that." We got up, loaded the dishwasher, and then went upstairs to shower together. Afterward, we are dressed and walk out the door. I walk out to my car in the driveway while Kyle locks the front door. He walks down, I put my arms around his neck, and we kiss. He looked at me and said, " Have a good day, Beautiful.. I love you". I said, " I love you too, Baby". He gets down on his knee, gently kisses my belly, and says, " Daddy loves you, Carly." I smile down at him, and he stands back up, giving me one last kiss. We get our cars and start them. Kyle waves at me as we pull down the driveway. He turns left while I turn right, driving down the street to the main road. Around Noon, I'm down at the Café with K.J. and Dakota eating lunch. Carly is awake and moving around. Dakota said, " You have an appointment today, right?" I said, " Yeah, I'm leaving after lunch." She said, " Didn't you say Kat was coming with you?" I said, " Yeah, Kyle is glad she is.. he wishes he could be there". K.J. said, " How far along is she now?" I said, " She's three months. She will find out the gender next month." Dakota said, " I wonder what she's gonna have?" I said, " She has said she wants either one boy or girl." Dakota said, " Holly is pregnant too, isn't she?" I said, " Yeah, she found out a little after Kat.. their babies are gonna be very close in age. Kat's will be a little older by a few days; her due date is April 1, 1996, and Holly's is April 10, 1996". Dakota smiles. " Those two might be close when they grow up." I smiled. " Maybe.. I know that Kat's kid will be friends with Carly growing up". I see Kelly walking through the courtyard. She grins at me evilly. Mandi gives me a go-to-hell look as she follows behind her to the building. After our break, we paid for our food and walked back to the office. It was 1:14 pm, and I was getting my things together and turning off the computer. I put my bag on my shoulder with my purse. I walked by Nancy's office, and the door was closed. She was most likely in a meeting. I walk down the stairs and out the front doors. I walked down the sidewalk, and my cell phone rang. I stop and pull it out of my bag. I open it and say, " Hello?" Kat's voice from the other end says, " I'm leaving my house. I'll meet you at the hospital". I smiled " Alright, I'll see you there.. be careful". She said, " You too". We hang up, and I get to my car. I got in and started driving to the hospital. I go up the road by the high school football field, the same road Terri's car blew up on. I turn left in the back parking lot of the emergency room and turn to the parking garage. I pull up to the booth, and an elderly white man is in the booth. He is a very nice man named Paul. He smiled and said, " Well, hello, young lady". I see a metal pin on his green button-up shirt above his name patch. It says it's my birthday. I said, " Happy Birthday". I gave him a five-dollar bill, and he smiled. " Thank you.. I'm seventy-five today. God has blessed me with another year". I smiled. " You have a great day, Paul." He handed me the change and said, " I will.. my granddaughter is taking me out to eat". He pushes the button, and the traffic arm bar rises up. I drive in and find Kat's car with her standing at the back of it. I park the car and shut it off, taking out the keys. I get my purse in the passenger seat and open the door, getting out. I close the door behind me and walk around to Kat. Her belly is a small bump; mine is bigger than hers. I look like I've swallowed a volleyball. We chat as we walk across the parking garage to the doors leading to the elevators. We walk in and up to the elevators. Kat presses the button, and we hear Terri's voice from around the right corner of the elevator. We both look over at Detective Hobbs and Terri coming from the corner. She seems irritated as she watches him walk by us with crossed arms. She walked up to us, and I said, " Is everything okay?" She said with irritation directed at him, " These cops are ridiculous. Now they think Kyle and I are having an affair." I rolled my eyes, and Kat said with surprise " What? That's stupid". Terri said, " I'm sick of this. They have been harassing us for a month now". I said, " I know.. hopefully they back off". Terri said, " There is a rumor has been spread around the hospital.. some people think I'm a cougar". Kat said, " People love to talk." I winked at her, messing around. " I think they're jealous of you." Terri smiles and blushes. Kat said, " She's totally right.. I bet some of these women here are just jealous because you're hot and look great for your age". Terri and I both looked at Kat and smiled. Kat blushed and said, " I meant that not a lesbian way." We giggled, Terri said, messing with me, " That's okay.. I know some of you had a little crush on me when you were young". She gives me a playful wink, and I can't hide my blushing. She giggled and said, " I'll see you guys later." Terri walked past us to the emergency room lobby. Kat is looking at me as I blush, looking away from her. She smiles. " Oh? So you did have a crush on Terri at one point". The elevator finally dings and opens. We walk in, and Kat pushes the button. I said as my face blushed, " I was like 12". Kat giggled, then said, " That's cute.. Terri, was your Bisexual awakening". We are giggling as the elevator goes up. After the appointment, we were waiting at the elevators, and I was looking at my ultrasound. Kat said, " I can't wait until I find out what the baby is." I said, " Kyle and I were so happy when we found out.. I started crying while I was still on the table with Dr. Steinburg". Kat smiled and gently put her hand on my belly. She looked at me and said, " Boy or girl.. I have no doubt our kids are gonna be best friends". We smile at each other. The elevator stops, and the doors open. We see Terri standing at the back of her new car, a black 1995 Chevy Blazer. I see a man with an olive skin tone talking to her. He's about 5'7" and weighs about 160. Terri said to him, " I told you to stop coming to my work." She was annoyed with the man. I walked up and said to him, " Is there a problem here?" He turns around looking at Kat and me. He said with a smile " No problem.. just saying Hi to an old friend". Terri scoffs. He turns around. He said " See you another time Theresa." She said " You know I hate my first name." He winks at her and said " I've always loved it." He walks by her. She looks back at him then at us. Kat said " Who was that?" Terri said " That was my ex-boyfriend Dave Andrews he's been back in town for a month now". I said " His name is Dave?" Kat said " I would have guessed Juan". Terri giggles and said " He's half white and half Hispanic". I said " What is he doing here?" She said with a tense look " He's trying to "win" me back... I haven't seen him in twenty-four years... I've told him we will never be anything anymore, that I'm happily married with a fourteen-year-old daughter and two twin granddaughters". I said, " If he doesn't leave you alone. you should make a police report". She said, " If he shows up at my house, I will.. I can't really do anything about him coming to the hospital". I said. " But you can if he's only coming to harass you." She said as she ran her fingers through her hair. " I haven't told Don yet.." Kat said " You should.. may Don will scare him off if you don't first". Terri said " Don isn't gonna be happy that he's been coming to the hospital.. he isn't the jealous type. Still, if something gives him a reason, he will be". I said, " I wouldn't say jealous but territorial protecting what's theirs. I mean, you would deck a bitch if she was following him around like that". She giggled and said, " You're not wrong."
