"Hey! Hey!" After pulling up his gloves to hide the scaly skin, Diego did a handstand on his horse. "You guys are experts on the horse, but can you do this? He started doing all sorts of flips on and around Silver Bullet as it ran.

"Johnny..." Gyro found the display concerning. "Are genius jockey's always this wacky?"

"How should I know?" Johnny was just as confused. "But something's strange. Something's wrong! We thought he was badly injured back then, but now look at him!" He lowered his voice, "Are we really gonna be with him tonight?"

"Maybe he ate some funky mushrooms?" You hoped that was all it was. "But, even if we try to avoid him, we still need to stay at the village he mentioned. There seem to be a lot of wolves around here. It wouldn't be safe for the horses."

"Yep! The wolves are still roaming around. That's the safest." Diego, who was now several meters ahead, agreed with you.

"Guys, he can hear us..." Gyro was not a fan of Diego's incredibly hearing.

Not too far away, the villagers were all waving at the four of you, excited to see participants of the Steel Ball Run. They eagerly accepted you into their village, already preparing a place for you to stay.

Gyro unmounted his horse, leading Valkyrie to a spot near the stone house you'd all be staying in. "Seems like everybody knows about this race. Even up here in the mountains." And he didn't mind one bit, gladly accepting any praise they wanted to give him.

Johnny took a quick look around before going into panic mode. "Hey! Where did Dio go?! He's gone!"

"Who knows, maybe he's talking with the villagers." Gyro shut the wooden door behind himself.

"Seriously, I am not sleeping in the same place as him! He's definitely the lowest a human can become!" Johnny slid off his horse, taking a seat on the wooden floor instead.

"I wouldn't say he's that bad." Though you were sure Johnny was probably just exaggerating. "I've met some pretty terrible people."

"Well, he still might try to poison the horse's food or mess with our harnesses. That's probably second nature to him." Despite not interacting much with the guy, Johnny very clearly hated Diego.

"I know." Gyro lit a lantern, giving some light to the formerly pitch black house. "We'll keep watch of our horses just like we do when we camp out."

"Speaking of, I can go take Slow Dancer to where Moxy and Valkyrie are, Johnny." Once you got his nod of approval, you led his horse outside.

Gyro waited for you to leave before speaking up again, "So... what do you think of (Y/N)?"

"What do you mean?" Johnny pulled himself up to sit on the kitchen counter.

"You know what I mean." The Zeppeli nudged the Joestar gently with his elbow. "I've seen how you've been looking at her."

"Well... she's nice, I guess." Johnny avoided eye contact. "She's also smart and brave and..."

"And...?"

The Joestar's gaze moved to the window, where he could see you brushing through Moxy's hair. You were the first person in the past two years who actually seemed to care about him, to believe he could still do something with his life. Not to mention, you had all already gone through so much together over the past few weeks. "And I think I like her..."

Gyro leaned against the counter, following his friend's line of sight. "If you like her so much, you should ask her out."

"I..." Johnny covered his face. "I've never actually asked someone out before. Before I was shot, I went out with tons of girls, but they were always asking me out first." He had even had sexual relations with a few of then, yet he had still been embarrassed when Gyro suggested his idea of a 'prize' several days earlier.
