The Ludicrous Escapade Pt.3

Homecoming

"We're home!" Gyro called out in a singsongy voice as he shut the door behind himself.

"(Y/N)! Gyro!" Johnny ran up to you, pulling both of you into a tight hug. "You're back! Thank goodness you're both okay. I had no idea you were returning today. I would've prepared a little celebration or something." He soon noticed that someone else had wound smooshed within the hug.

The Joestar took a step back, confused for a moment at the sight of the child. "Who is this?"

Gyro placed a hand on the boy's head, tousling his hair. "It's Marco, the boy that was supposed to be..." He leaned forward and whispered. "...executed." After all, Marco still didn't even know why he had really been imprisoned to begin with. The Zeppeli felt it better to keep it that way for the time being.

"Oh!" Johnny had thought the kid looked familiar and now he knew why. "Well, hi, I guess." He brought all of you to the living room. "Ah, and Rina's here, too." He still barely knew the lady, only seeing her a few times here and there while he was helping Norisuke. Only recently had she offered to teach him Japanese. Figuring he might as well keep learning while you were away, he had reluctantly accepted.

Rina was sitting on the couch. The table in front of her had books and papers scattered across. "Welcome back! You were in Italy, right? But..." She nervously fidgeted with her hands. "Do you think I could talk to you in private for a moment, (Y/N)?"

You set your bags down to the side of the couch. "Sure." You turned to the others. "Why don't you show Marco to his room. He can use mine for the time being and I'll just room with one of you."

Gyro gave a mock salute and started down the hallway.

"So..." You took a seat next to her. "What did you want to talk to me about?"

"Well..." She clasped her hands together and took a deep breath. "Forgive me if I misjudged the situation, but I was under the impression that you and Gyro were a couple."

"Okay...?" You already had a feeling where she was going with this.

"However, after spending a bit of time around Johnny recently, it has become apparent to me that something is probably going on between the two of you. And... maybe that would explain a lot." She started to hurriedly straighten up the mess of papers on the table. "I haven't exactly been subtle in showing my feelings for him, have I? At first I thought maybe he was just a little dense," She started wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand. "but perhaps it's more likely that he's just choosing to brush aside my advances because he already likes someone else."

You found yourself staring in the direction the guys had walked off in. "Yes. He likes me. And I suppose you'd say we're together. So I would like to kindly ask you to stop what you've been trying to do." You put a hand on her shoulder. "Instead, I would suggest you attempt to get to know him better as a friend. How well can you really say you know him in the first place, when you've only been watching him from afar?"

Rina blinked a few times before nodding slowly. She hadn't expected you to give her advice. "Okay. Thank you, (Y/N). And... I really am sorry. I should've realized sooner." She picked up the rest of her things and stood up, a sad, small smile now on her face. "I think I'll be seeing myself out." She stopped at the doorway and turned around. "But... maybe we could be friends, too?"

"Sure."

You watched her go, your expression unchanged as you tried to pinpoint how you felt about the situation. A little sad, perhaps, since you still had this feeling that your relationship with Johnny would only last so long. Although, you did trust him to tell you if he ever decided on anything different, so there was some comfort in that. If he ever gained feelings for someone else, or thought things would no longer work out between you, he'd let you know.
