Eclipse

Kaye's POV

Pumasok ako saka hinubad yung vest ko. Nadatnan ko si Gen na nakahiga sa kama niya at nagbabasa ng libro.

"Di ka pa magbibihis?" tanong ko nang makitang naka-uniform pa siya. "We're getting dinner together right?"

Binaba niya ang libro at tinignan ako. "How about you? Bakit di ka sumama sa Alphas? You should be on a break right now too."

"You deserve it." Umupo siya sa dulo ng higaan niya. She settled her book on the bedside table before standing up.

I grabbed my skinny jeans on top of my drawer. "The school doesn't have an Omega Class, Gen." Sinuot ko ang jeans. "And besides, I like it here..."

I heard her sigh. "Wait for me. I'm going to wash my face first."

Hinatid ko siya ng tingin. Pagsara niya ng pinto ng comfort room, napangiti ako.

Ever since I chose to stay as a student of the Gamma Class, all my classmates and some schoolmates convinced me to choose the opposite. They told me to go with the Alphas. Sinabi rin nilang dapat magpahinga muna ako ngayon after everything that happened. I know their sincerity is genuine. I can see it in their souls. Pero kahit anong pangungumbinsi nila sa'kin, pipiliin ko pa ring maging Gamma.

I can be both Gamma and Omega. Buhay ko'to and no one's in control but me.

Umupo ako sa higaan at inilibot ang aking tingin sa kwarto namin.

It's true that I couldn't see the colors around me. Ang tanging nakikita ko lang ay ang outlines nila... I can even see pass through our walls.

Ngunit naaalala ko pa rin ang kulay ng mga ito.

The white cupboard... brown drawers... the cute twinning pink and blue mugs Gen bought for the two of us. Regalo niya para sa'kin dahil bago pa lang ako dito noon.

Sobra-sobra na yung naibigay sa'kin ni Gen dati. She treated me like a sister.

"and yet..." naging malumbay ang aking ngiti. "I betrayed her."

I betrayed the whole school.

I cleared my throat. Naalala ko lang ang sinabi sa'kin ni Matilda sa Underworld dati. She told me not to live in the past anymore. She even assured me that I was already forgiven.

I keep on reminding myself that.

Pero hanggang ngayon, nahihirapan pa rin ako. A single memory would immediately spark a whole lot of guilt inside me.

At ngayong nasa Academy ako, the memories keep on coming back.

Bumagsak ako sa kama at nagpakawala ng hangin... kasama na rito ang hinanakit ng loob ko.

A single tear streamed on my cheek but that was it. Pinunasan ko kaagad ito at sa kasunod na mga segundo, wala akong ibang ginawa kundi ang titigan ang kisame habang tinatanong ang sarili ko kung sapat na ba yung mga nagawa ko para makabawi sa kanilang lahat.

"Where's Slade? Hindi ba siya sasama sa'tin?"

Lumabas si Gen mula sa cr na may tuwalyang dinadampi dampi sa mukha.

"They're on a mission right now and besides, kahit nandito pa siya, di ko siya pasasamahin." sagot ko.

"Bakit?" umupo siya sa tabi ko. "Nag-away ba kayo?"

"Nope." I made a popping sound with the lettier p before looking at her. "I reserved tonight only to spend it with my best friend. My best friend only."
