Chapter 19.3

Bonds

A bright smile immediately lit up Angela’s face when she heard Devan’s reply, clinging on to him as tight as possible and lifting him of the ground slightly.

‘Thank you Devan, thank you. You’re my friend too’, Angela said happily, swinging Devan around tightly

‘Ngh...Angela…can’t…breathe’, Devan manages to cough out before the wide eyed Angela let him go.

‘Ah…I’m sorry Devan. I just got excited that I used to much strength’, Angela apologized as she hugged Devan again, lightly this time as she didn’t want to hurt him or let him go.

‘Ahh its ok Angela. But you’re a very strong girl...Pretty soon you might be the one who’s going to be protecting me’, Devan chuckled as he hugged Angela back, jokingly saying his words to try and make the vampire smile.

But Angela didn’t take it as a joke as Devan had though she would.

‘P-Protect you...You’d…trust me to protect you?’ Angela stuttered out, before smiling at Devan.

Devan looked at the sincere look in Angela’s eyes of wanting to protect him, blushing slightly as he gave her a small, shy nod.

‘Um yes Angela. I mean I’ve seen your mom and dad fight beside my daddy a lot of times so it’ll be really cool if you and me could fight side by side too’, Devan tells her as he begins to walk back to the Lockhart mansion where he and his father had been staying on their visit to London.

‘Yes Devan that would be fantastic’, Angela replied, her British accent finally showing now that she was calm.

‘But Devan…What would we fight for?’

The sudden question from Angela made the little 6 year old think as he walked past the main gates with her, spotting his father and her father talking on the second floor through the window. As he does, a small smile forms on his face as he looks at her.

‘For peace….If they can’t end the war, we’ll end it’, Devan replies to Angela with confidence, completely stunning the young girl.

‘B-But Devan, the war has been going on for years. It’d take a lot of fighting if we want t-‘

Angela blinked in surprise as she felt the index finger of Devan’s right hand press against her lips, getting a wink from the boy as he moves it away.

‘We won’t fight to end this war Angela. I want to end this war in such a way that both sides walk away satisfied. Like how you and I are friends now. The old man who is leading The Order was also a friend of your daddy and my daddy. I’m sure it hurts them a lot to have to fight him. So I think…that we should find a peaceful way to end this war. Do you agree with me Angela?’, Devan asked her as he gave her a warm and comfortable smile.

The look of awe and shock on Angela’s face could tell that she was completely taken aback by Devan’s words. The only thought in her mind was how could a boy of such a young age thing is such a manner, when even adults where only trying to solve the issue of the war through violence? At the moment the young vampire knew that this boy could one day end this war.

‘Yes Devan! I agree with you! Let’s stop this war in a peaceful way together’, Angela answered Devan before glomping him, hugging on to him tightly again from the sheer joy of working with such a person.
