Chapter 12.7

Shadows in the dark

Prowl could feel the immense killing aura hidden behind the fourth truck begin to vanish, coming to the conclusion that the vampire girl had left the area. He let out a sigh of relief, as he had been very tempted to disobey Crown’s orders and just go in and kill the girl.

‘That’s one less headache’, he thought as he turned his attention back to the scene in front of him.

It had been an easy victory for the boys of Taskforce 666, maybe even too easy judging by the completely wrecked trucks and mangled bodies of The Order troops. The taskforce members didn’t seem to have any injuries and were now going about the bodies of the dead to check for survivors and to the destroyed trucks to salvage any information or equipment.

As Prowl scanned through the soldiers, taking a mental count to make sure everyone was there, he looked at the three trucks his team had destroyed, winching slightly when he realized he had destroyed precious data.

‘King ain’t gonna be happy about this’, Prowl mumbled as he walked up to the fourth truck, where Tank was waiting for him.

‘Ready to pop this one open’, Tank asked playfully as he leaned against the side of the truck, holding his Gatling HMG beside him in a relaxed position.

‘Yeah. Hopefully there’s something worth it in there’, Prowl replied with a sigh as he and Tank moved to face the doors of the container.

‘Troll, Mint get over here’, Prowl called out to two of his soldiers who were standing nearby, one a British SAS soldier with ginger hair and the other a African American Navy Seal with a bald head and brown eyes.

Both of the soldiers rushed to his side, waiting behind him and Tank, their guns aimed at the door as Prowl moved to open it.

Prowl took a quick look behind him to make sure he was covered by Tank, Troll and Mint, placing his right hand on the right handle when he saw the three barrels aimed at the door.

Prowl paused for a minute before pulling the door open. When door swung fully open, he climbed in. He turned on the flashlight attached to the barrel of his ACR, pointing it into the pitch black container. He began to slowly stand up, swing his rifle from left to right to get a through look around.

The container was filled with different types of weapons, ranging from hand guns to HMG’s. But that’s not what the boys were looking for. Prowl slowly began making his way into the container followed closely by Tank. After a couple of steps in, Prowl saw a light switch. He pulled the small switch down and light from the overhanging lamps flooded the room giving Prowl and Tank a clear view of the contents of the truck.

As his eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness, Prowl sight fell on a large container and computer near the back of the screen. The container contained some type of mutated human form, which was not clearly visible as the glass was translucent. Even then, one look at the shape of whatever was in that container was enough for Prowl to know what it was.

‘N…no…way’, Prowl stuttered letting go of his ACR which swung to his side.
