As usual, by the time the Karasuno volleyball team arrived for morning practise, the sound of squeaking shoes and bouncing volleyballs could be heard from the gym. Everyone headed upstairs to change in the club room, changing school uniform for gym clothes.

Daichi pushed open the gym door and was greeted with the usual sight of two first years setting and spiking over the long white net, repeating the process again and again to improve strength and accuracy.

Except, Daichi frowned when the only sight visible was one redhead practising his serves, no black hair or blue eyes in sight.

"Hey Hinata."

"Hi!"

"Where's Kageyama?" the captain asked.

"Oh." Hinata paused, stopping from doing another serve. He scratched his head as he thought hard. "I don't know. He's normally here by now."

"I hope he's okay." fretted Suga.

"He will be. Don't worry Suga." Asahi comforted.

The team all began to warm up before beginning to practise their key skills. The morning hour of practise went by slowly, and with each passing minute Karasuno's number 9 was still absent. Suga couldn't help but worry and Daichi ended up calling the first year to see where he was. It was extremely abnormal for him to miss practise. It had never happened before.

He listened as the call rang again and again but there was no answer from Kageyama. He sighed and rang again before hanging up at the voicemail, giving a shake of his head to Suga who frowned.

But, his worries were dissipated by the gym door being pulled open and a familiar figure walking in. Kageyama headed into the gym whilst stretching his arms, apologising for being late but being cut off by a yawn.

"You okay Kageyama?" Daichi asked as he sat with the first year whilst he stretched.

"Hm. I just..."

"Just what?"

"... Overslept."

"Well, first time for everything I guess." Daichi stated before announcing a quick practise match now that their official setter had arrived.

The game was 5v5. One team was Kageyama, Tsuki, Noya, Daichi and Asahi; the other team was Suga, Hinata, Tanaka, Ennoshita and Yamaguchi. Hinata complained about not being with Kageyama but Suga explained that if he wanted to improve his spiking then he would have to learn to spike other people's sets other than Kageyama's. Kageyama agreed with a small nod before heading to the back line to serve.

The game went by relatively quickly, finishing just before 8am. Serves, receives, sets, blocks, and spikes were all on point. Well, mostly. Kageyama's first set was completely out of sync with Tsuki's timing. Everyone was surprised, knowing it was uncommon for the first year to make such a mistake; they looked at Kageyama cautiously, worried he was about to get mad at himself. But- to their surprise- he simply sighed and clenched his fists before saying sorry.

Tsuki gave him several curious glances throughout the match, reading him just as he did his opponents. There wasn't another issue from the setter, but Tsuki noticed his footing and serves were slightly less accurate than normal. He saw the signs of tiredness when Kageyama walked in, but brushed it off when Kageyama said he had overslept.

But, Kageyama went for a run a few mornings a week, meaning he rarely overslept. He must have been frowning whilst he thought over this during the journey to class with Yamaguchi, for his friend asked him what was wrong. He brushed it off, saying he was frustrated at how annoying Hinata was this morning; this caused his friend to laugh...
