Akaashi nodded once more and took the bandages, unrolling them and beginning to wrap up Kageyama's ribs. He asked every so often if they felt okay or if they were too tight, but Tobio was surprised that he actually did quite a good job; it was much easier than having to do it himself. He would have asked Tsuki but he knew that the blond was tired and was nearly asleep by the time he was changing.
"So, can I know why you're wrapping up your ribs?" Akaashi asked.
He and Kageyama got on well, as they had similar personalities in the sense that they were both introverted and preferred small groups of people. He also knew that the younger male was struggling: he could see it in the wandering eyes or jumpiness everytime a volleyball hit the ground too hard. These movements were almost imperceptible if it weren't for his sharp eyes.
Tobio was quiet as he considered telling Akaashi what was going on. It wasn't that he felt pressured, for Akaashi's eyes were calm and relaxed, his tone warm, and it wasn't that he didn't like the male, he respected him a lot. But from planning to tell nobody to three people finding out in less than 24hrs, it was hard...
"You don't have to tell me." the second year assured.
Kageyama nodded as he watched Akaashi carefully wrap the bandages before tying it off and putting the roll back on the side. They were quiet for a moment before Kageyama thanked him.
"It's fine."
They weren't being blunt, that was just who they were. No need for unnecessary words. But as Kageyama went to leave the bathroom a gentle hand on his shoulder stopped him. He minutely flinched and took another step forwards, and this action set Akaashi's thoughts whirring.
"Hey, wait. The plan is to only practise tomorrow morning, in the afternoon Bokuto and Kuroo want to just hang out."
"Okay, thanks for telling me."
"I mean, do you want to hang out after practise? We could talk, or just take a walk, if you'd like."
Debating it for a second, Kageyama nodded in agreement before saying goodnight and heading back to the dorm. When he slid open the door he found everyone was asleep, tired after the long practise they had had. He smiled a little at how hard they were all working and remembered how they took his advice to heart and really put it into practise.
He reached his futon and put all of his things away before settling down for the night too...
The next day Kageyama was one of the first awake. Okay, he was the first and he woke up at 5AM due to his thoughts getting him down. If he was going to hang out with Akaashi today what would they do? Would he make a fool of himself? Would Akaashi avoid him if he found out the truth? Would he make him tell everyone? No, Akaashi was a good person who wouldn't do something like that.
Damn, he wanted his meds.
In the past few weeks he had tried only taking his pills when he thought that he needed them. For example, when he was feeling like he was about to do something he was going to regret. But that didn't work out and he was a complete mess for a few days. So he continued his daily schedule, and as much as he hated the thought of getting addicted, the pills really helped keep him steady throughout the day.
"... -rth to Tobio? Kags? Hello, you in there?"
"Huh?"
"Morning." Tsuki greeted, the second one awake.
"Good morning. Sleep well? You worked hard yesterday."
"Well enough, I just hate these damn futons."
"Mhm. What time is it?"
"6:05AM. I don't think we're supposed to get up until around 7AM."
"Want to go on a walk?" the setter asked. "I'd like some fresh air."
"Sure."
Kageyama smiled then held out his hands, asking silently to be picked up. The blond rolled his eyes teasingly before picking the younger male up and carrying him out of the dorm like a koala. Tobio just smiled and relaxed his head by Tsuki's neck, absent-mindedly tracing circles on the bare skin on the other side making the blond shiver.
