Tsukishima woke up to his alarm at 5:30AM, sighing as he always did before reaching an arm out of the warm covers and slamming his hand atop of the dreadful device to shut off its deafening beeping noise. He turned on his lamp and saw the sun was beginning to rise outside. He sat up in bed and looked at his phone for notifications. He saw one from Yamaguchi with a video attached and a message from his brother saying he would be heading to Tokyo that day and asked if he wanted anything.

And one more notification. From Kageyama.

Time: 5AM

Kageyama: I haven't slept.

He frowned and re-read the text three times before it sunk in. So it didn't work. He assumed that Kageyama would have tried listening to music when he went to sleep last night but it didn't work the way it had that afternoon. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair before texting back quickly.

Time: 5:40AM

Tsukishima: Get to the gym half an hour earlier.

Ukai had told them- well mostly Hinata- not to show up early for the next week since they had been working hard in sport and school and deserved a little lie-in. Hinata would have protested but school had been pretty intense lately and he had a big project due that he hadn't even started yet. The later rises meant he could stay up later and work on his project.

Time: 5:43AM

Kageyama: Okay

Tsuki pushed himself out of bed and took a shower, allowing the warm water to heat him up in the cool morning air. He dried his hair and put on his uniform before heading downstairs to make some breakfast. He ended up having some cereal whilst he went through the work Yamaguchi sent him from classes yesterday, knowing it was only revision so he had nothing to catch up on. He also saw a note from his mother saying she would be back late and he should order take away. Great, talking to a stranger on the phone, there is nothing better in the world.

When it reached 6:10AM he headed out of the house and locked the door behind him before heading to school. It was just as quiet as the evening due to most people still asleep or only just waking up. The volleyball club always had early practise sessions so getting up with the sun was normal for him by now.

The walk was quick and soon enough the school gates were in sight. He saw a figure was leaning against them, their hood up so their face wasn't visible.

"Wait long?" Tsuki asked as he walked into school with Kageyama.

"No, just a few minutes."

"Why didn't you wait by the gym?"

"Unless you have responsibilities you can't enter school grounds until 7AM."

"I didn't know you knew the school rules."

"We get told them enough that I couldn't forget them. The same goes for not skipping classes unless you have permission." he added, glancing at Tsuki as he opened the club room door.

"We were only doing revision."

"But you still broke the rules. You don't do that. And you look tired. I feel bad."

"Trust me, the teacher's won't mind me missing a day. I'm like one of their favourite students."

"Why? You're so salty."

"If I'm that salty then I guess I can just go home." Tsuki teased, not making a move to leave but instead getting out some things from his bag and watching as Kageyama pouted a little.

"Boke." the setter muttered.
