In about ten minutes he had reached the café. There was a closed sign on the front door, so he headed round to the side street and saw a small set of stairs leading up to the second floor. This must be Sobo's apartment.
He made his way up the stairs and caught his breath as he knocked on the door. The few seconds of silence made his worry increase ten fold but eventually he could hear faint footsteps approaching the door. He took a step back as the door handle turned and it opened to reveal a relieved lady.
"Oh, Kei!" Sobo exclaimed before pulling the boy into a hug.
Tsuki returned it and asked what had gone on, worried it was something terrible by the sound of the lady's voice on the phone. He could see faint tears marks on her face and it did nothing but make him want to see Tobio even more.
"Sobo," he began quietly, "can I see him?"
"Yes, yes of course. Come in dear, I'll put the kettle on."
She took him by the hand and led him inside to her living room, before giving him a gentle pat on the shoulder as she headed into the kitchen. Tsuki walked into the room and saw a figure sleeping on the sofa. He walked over and crouched down by the male, seeing his eyes were closed and hands in fists held close to his chest. His breathing was uneven and forehead in a small frown.
"Tobio." he whispered, brushing the fallen black locks away from the younger's face.
His breath got caught in his throat at what he noticed. Just visible at the top of his forehead was a red cut, thin but long, like it had been cut with glass. He then noticed a bruise forming on Kageyama's neck, small marks on either side like someone had choked him.
He then, with shaking hands, gently took the setter's clenched fists in his warm palms and placed a kiss against the pale forehead. Slowly, a pair of the sharpest blue eyes fluttered open, then widened at the sight of seeing him.
"Kei." he whispered before jumping up and wrapping his arms around the blond's shoulders and burying his face in his neck.
"Oh, Tobio," Kei responded as he hugged the younger back, pressing a kiss atop his head, "what did they do to you?"
He could feel Tobio's shoulders shaking so settled them on the couch, the younger in his lap as he sobbed. He didn't know what other injuries he had so settled on doing what he knew best. Slowly- so as to not cause a fright to his love- he wrapped his arms around Kageyama's waist and ran a hand through his hair.
Tsuki could feel how cold the setter was so held him closer, assuring him that he was safe now and no-one else was going to hurt him. Slowly, he could feel the younger relax in his embrace but still the quiet sobs continued.
"I'm sorry. It's all m-my fault." whispered Kageyama.
"No it's not." the blond replied, softly but firmly. "None of this is your fault. What your par- what they did to you is not your fault. I'm sorry for not being there to help you."
"No. D-don't say that." Tobio argued, looking up and meeting Tsuki's worried eyes. "You couldn't have done anything."
The blond could see the refusal to accept his words, so he said okay as long as the younger didn't blame himself either. Tobio nodded before sighing and letting his head rest on Kei's shoulder.
"Tobio... can you tell me what happened?"
He knew his words might cause the younger to start panicking, so he ran a hand up and down his back, whispering assurances and sweet nothings when he tensed up.
"My... they came home just before midnight. They were shouting and a-arguing and it was so loud and I couldn't breathe and I- I couldn't listen to everything they were saying. I tried to go downstairs and reach the backdoor but then, then he, then-"
He couldn't continue, horrid flashes of what happened next making him panic. He clenched his hands into fists and squeezed his eyes shut to try and block out the memories. Tsuki placed a hand under the setter's chin and lightly kissed his lips; he leant their foreheads together and quietly assured the younger that he was okay and he could take his time. He noticed small tears fell down Tobio's face so he pulled away and brushed them off with his thumb.
Kageyama opened his eyes and took a deep breath, following what the blond was demonstrating. It took a few minutes but eventually he had calmed down enough to speak.
"My dad threw his bottle and it hit the door. It got my hand," he paused and showed a cut on his inner palm, "and my head too but I- I didn't notice. He pushed me against the door by my n-neck and I couldn't breathe. And then my mother started screaming, at me, and at him, and the things she said I-"
"It's okay, take your time."
"I shouted back. My dad just grew angrier and angrier and then he threw me on the floor and s-started, he began to- I couldn't stop him..."
"He beat you." Kei finished for him, his voice barely a whisper; when Tobio nodded his head slightly he felt his heart break.
"I don't remember much because I p-passed out. And when I woke up I saw them drinking o-on the sofa so I managed to get out and I ran. But it hurt so much and I, I didn't know where I was going but ended up here. Sobo was so concerned and she let m-me in and the next thing I know you're here..."
