Sobo joined them at their table.
"So boys, how have you both been lately? How is school?" she asked with a warm smile as she drank her tea.
"It's been fine, I guess." Tsuki shrugged.
"I've not been there much so... but the team are being really supportive so that's good." Tobio explained.
"Well there's no rush, everything has its time. But how are you feeling? Has the medication been working?"
"Mhm. But I'm not taking it as much anymore; the doctor said to try and ease them down but to not fully stop taking them. And most of my injuries are better."
Tsuki nodded in agreement, and Sobo expressed with delight that things were looking up. She then asked about Tobio's parents. This comment made the setter tense up and he took a long breath in and out before answering:
"I went to visit t-them today. At the station..."
Sobo gently patted the setter's arm before turning to the older male, not wanting to pressure Tobio into saying anything else.
"They're going to jail, minimum 15 years. They weren't very remorseful but Kags stood up to them pretty well."
"You're very strong to stand up to them. And now I think you can move forwards and think of better things. For example..." Sobo paused, getting up from the table with a grin and returning a moment later, "trying my newest recipe."
She put a muffin in front of either boy and asked them to try it, guessing what flavour it was. They hesitantly took a bite each, trying to figure out what it was. The texture was light and fluffy but there were pieces of fruit evenly mixed in too.
"Is that orange?" the setter asked, as he took another bite of the crystallised topping.
"Yes it is."
"And cherry? Cranberry?" Kei guessed.
"Cranberry. I saw a recipe for it online but added my own little twist; they're vegetarian too!"
"These are really nice. I think your mother would like them." Tobio said, looking over to the blond.
"She probably would, but she likes anything sweet. Sobo, can we take a few of these home?"
"Of course, let me wrap them up for you!"
She bustled off whilst the boys finished their cakes. They really liked it, but they still had their favourites. Blueberry muffins and strawberry shortcake. And since they were bringing something back for Tsuki's mother, they also decided to grab something chocolate flavoured for Akiteru too.
"Maybe Sobo will give us some recipes to try." Tobio mused. "If we don't want to leave the house. But also so she will stop giving us food for free because I still feel bad about that."
"She's just a kind person and they're pretty hard to come by."
"They are?"
"Well, kind of. I mean I know two of them."
"Who's the other one?" Tobio asked, looking curious. Could it be Kei's mother, someone on the team?
"You."
His eyes widened for a moment before he denied it, saying there were much better people out there.
"You're a kind person too." he insisted, trying to divert the attention off of himself.
"I'm kinda a jerk." Tsuki stated.
"Well I am too."
"Hm... no."
"No? What do you mean, no?"
"The way you act isn't because you're a bad person, it's because of your experiences. I'm one of the lucky few who get to see the real you, but who knows, maybe others will now too."
"Damn, you're a stupidly smooth talker." Tobio mumbled as he didn't know what to reply with.
"Just when it comes to you."
"Yeah yeah, eat your cake before I do."
"You wouldn't!" The middle blocker held his dessert closer to him, shielding it with an arm.
"Try me."
