The bell jingled signalling a new customer, and the lady behind the counter looked over with a welcoming smile on her face.
"Kei, hello dear! Tobio's in the usual spot; doesn't he seem tired today?"
"Well, he stayed at mine for the weekend and he slept more than I think he has in weeks. Last night he had barely 4 hours and even then he kept waking up. Today wasn't good either."
"Oh dear, I thought things were looking up. Well, here, take this over too won't you?"
"Of course. And I'll-"
"Have the usual?"
"Yes, thankyou Sobo."
He headed round the corner and found the setter hidden away in their booth, drinking a glass of milk as he watched the small TV in the corner.
"Hey."
"Hey."
"Are you feeling better?"
Kageyama nodded his head yet he couldn't make eye contact with the older. He trained his eyes on the TV, causing the middle blocker to sigh and move a little closer. He joined their hands together and let a calm quiet surround them until he handed over something.
"What's this?"
"I'm not sure. Sobo just gave it to me."
Kageyama looked cautious- giving a confused look to the older, who just shrugged- and opened the small package. It was a small pouch tied with a red thread, and when the setter opened it and looked inside, he seemed surprised. He pulled out a small wristband made up of three different kinds of gems: pink, blue and black. He was confused at this but also saw a small card inside the pouch so pulled it out and read the inscription.
'Rose Quartz brings unconditional love, emotional healing, and compassion. Amazonite helps with self-confidence, self-love and creative expression. Black Tourmaline provides protection, banishing and security. I hope this gift brings you peace and safety and life will shine a light soon. From Sobo.'
"Oh."
Tobio looked at the different gemstones for a while before asking Tsuki to help him put it on. The middle blocker said it was very pretty and matched his eyes, causing the setter to blush and tell him to shut up. But there was a faint smile on his face.
Just in time too, as Sobo appeared not a moment later and was overjoyed at the smile on Tobio's face. She handed over a glass mug with Tsuki's caramel latte, alongside a strawberry shortcake and blueberry muffin. They thanked her and she lightly ruffled Kei's hair before patting the setter's head gently.
The she came back a moment later.
"I found it! This is for you Kei, I hope you like it."
It was another pouch, this time wrapped in a blue thread. He pulled out a similar styled wristband but with gemstones of blue, purple, and clear.
'Kei, I made one for you too! Soladite brings communication, self-expression and truth. Amethyst strengthens intuition, balance and higher wisdom. Clear quartz provides awareness, clarity and amplifies energy. I hope you can find true sense of self and expression, as well as the guidance to make great choices. From Sobo.'
"Why is she everything I want in a parental figure?" Tobio muttered as he helped Kei put on the gift. "I think yours is pretty too."
"Thankyou. And now I'm going to make a wise decision." Tsuki began, causing the setter to raise a brow dramatically.
"What decision is that may I ask?"
"I'm going to study." the middle blocker announced as if it was the wisest decision ever made by mankind.
Tobio sighed whilst the blond laughed quietly before getting out his homework, offering to help Tobio with any he had. The younger said he received no work from his classes that morning but he still had to revise for his maths midterm.
Despite Kageyama's reluctance to study, they soon feel into an easy rhythm: answering a few questions, checking them, then chatting and eating their desserts. Time passed quickly as they both worked through study and talked about anything and everything, from food to sport to anime to food. Okay, they both really liked food.
It was around 5pm- after the small afternoon rush in the coffee shop- when the bell jingled once more. The customer headed to the counter and ordered a sweet tea, looking around and appreciating the interior design as they waited for their drink. Two relatively loud voices caught their attention, and they subtly looked around the corner to the back of the café, where two high school aged boys were sitting and talking. They smiled before heading over to the counter just as their drink was finished.
"Sweet tea for Azumane. Come again." the lady said sweetly.
"Thankyou, good evening."
