They ate the meat buns pretty fast, surprised at how hungry they were. They drank their coffees in a peaceful quiet, but Kageyama yawned every so often and the blond asked if he was okay.
"You slept okay last night, right?" he asked.
"Yeah, I only woke up once but it wasn't for long. Like an hour max." Kageyama replied with a shrug.
"You could have woke me up." the middle blocker said softly.
"No, you were tired after studying all evening."
"That doesn't matter."
"Agree to disagree." the younger said before walking to a stop and turning to face the blond. "I'm okay, really." he said with a smile.
Tsuki was quiet for a moment, momentarily stunned at the setter's appearance. His cheeks were a light rose from the cold weather but also the hot food, and there was a light blush on his nose too. His hair was slightly ruffled from the breeze and he was smiling one of his pure, natural smiles that didn't fail to make the blond weak.
Tsuki leaned forwards and kissed the younger, saying everything with actions. Kageyama smiled but accepted the kiss; it was short but sweet, more than enough.
"Better?" he teased when they pulled apart.
"I couldn't help it. You look..."
"What?"
"Just, like... wow."
"Kei, don't say such things." the setter whined, hiding his face in his scarf causing the blond to smile at him with something close to awe in his eyes.
"Come on, or we'll be late."
"Okay."
They re-joined hands as they continued the walk that seemed to take much longer than usual. They must have been walking for only five minutes when Kageyama stopped again. He seemed to remember something and he pulled out his phone and earphones.
"I listened to this song last night, I thought you'd like it."
"Okay, I'll give it a go."
They plugged their earphones into the adaptor and Kageyama pressed play, keeping the volume low enough they could hear each other whilst listening to it. The song was Colors by Halsey. It was a happy yet sombre song with beautiful lyrics. Tsuki and Tobio did this often, finding new songs and sharing them with each other. Before Tsuki, the younger didn't spend much time listening to music so he didn't have much of a preference; it seems the blond was rubbing off on him.
"I like it." Tsuki stated after around half of the song.
"Definitely your vibe." Kageyama agreed.
Continuing to listen to the song, they reached the school gates soon enough and headed straight up to the clubroom, knowing the team would all be there getting changed. They took out their earphones and Tsuki slid open the door; immediately all eyes turned to them.
"Kageyama!" they all shouted before attacking him with a hug, still careful of not being too aggressive.
"Hey guys."
"So are you like back now?" Hinata asked with wide and excited eyes, Yamaguchi nodding his head as he stood behind the decoy.
"I don't know yet. Maybe."
"It's so good to see you." Suga said before giving him another hug, Daichi joining so it was like parents hugging their child when they returned from university.
"You look well." Daichi complimented.
"Oh, thanks. I feel a lot better."
"Good to hear."
Kageyama sat down on one of the benches as the team all got changed, replying to a text from Miwa asking about how he was doing.
Time: 6:59AM
BestSister 💁♀️: Tobio, how are you doing today?!?!
Time: 7:04AM
BestBro 💁♂️: Okay, I'm at school right now.
BestBro 💁♂️: And don't you sound too excited for a Monday morning?
BestSister 💁♀️: Never!
BestSister 💁♀️: Make sure to eat well and don't stress out! If you don't feel well call me and I'll pick you up. I'm gonna come over later, kk?
BestBro 💁♂️: Sure, see you. Love you Miwa.
BestSister 💁♀️: Aw, love you too 'lil bro xxx
He smiled a little at Miwa's text before putting his phone away, heading down to the gym with the rest of the team. He joined Kiyoko on the bench and answered her questions, knowing she was also worried and wanted to know if he was doing okay.
"I think practise today will the best we've had in weeks." the manager said with a warm smile on her face.
Kageyama looked down with a blush, saying he didn't have to be there for the team to be great. She immediately disagreed, saying they had really noticed his absence recently, but now they all seemed much happier just seeing him in the gym with them.
"Oh, did they miss me? Really?" Kageyama questioned looking surprised.
Kiyoko laughed softly and said yes, before adding that Hinata was especially depressed without his setter there. Kageyama joined the laughter but saw the team in a new light. It seemed they cared for him as much as he had grown to care for them. A warm feeling overcame him, and he settled down to watch the practise with content.
