109 - Check-ups

Tsuki and Kageyama stayed on the hilltop for a while, just until Tobio was feeling a little better. Then, with an assuring kiss or two, the pair headed back down the meadow and returned to the town, making their way down the familiar path to their favourite café.

As always, the flowers blooming on the windowsills were as beautiful as ever, and the soft jingle of the bell as they walked into the small building made them feel warm and welcome. It had felt like forever since he had last seen Sobo, and Tobio felt guilty about that.

The pitter patter of shoes coming from the kitchen made them look up from the displays in front of them, and smiled when Sobo appeared with a tray of fresh apple tarts, the smell wafting over the whole entryway.

"Boys!" Sobo exclaimed with a wide smile, hastily putting her tray down before rushing around the counter and crushing them in one of her wonderful hugs.

"Nice to see you again." Tsuki greeted.

"Sorry for not coming for a while." added the setter, his worries put at ease when the lady playfully ruffled his hair.

"Of course not. You are busy boys with buys lives, I'm just happy to see you now."

"It has been crazy." Tobio agreed with a sigh.

"I'm sure it has. And you can tell me all about it. But first let me put these snacks out and make your orders, and then we can chat."

"Thanks Sobo."

They grabbed their usual booth in the back, and the younger male took a few minutes to message with Miwa, making sure she was okay and apologising for rushing out the way he did.

Time: 11:24AM

BestBro 💁‍♂️: Hi Miwa

BestSister 💁‍♀️: Tobio! Are you okay? Kei said you were having a panic attack are you alright?!

BestSister 💁‍♀️: And before you ask I'm fine too. Mother and father didn't say anything after you walked out so I just followed you. After giving them the middle finger ofc.

Time: 11:26AM

BestBro 💁‍♂️: Calm down I'm fine, really. And I don't know where that came from I was just... mad.

BestBro 💁‍♂️:  We're at a café right now. You're with ur friend right? 

BestSister 💁‍♀️: Yes, she's making me dinner and then I'll visit in the evening, okay?

BestBro 💁‍♂️:Okay, see you. Love you sis xx

BestSister 💁‍♀️: Aww love you too lil bro xx

Tobio put his phone away just as Sobo returned, and he dug into his blueberry muffin whilst Kei spoke with his mother. She began asking what she should cook them that evening, and whilst Tobio said anything was fine she was insistent on doing something nice.

"I really don't mind." Tobio said quietly to Kei, making the middle blocker hum.

"How about pork curry?" the blond suggested, making Tobio look at him with a raised brow; Kei smirked in return.

"Oh yes, Tobio's favourite! Right, I'll get started on that then later. Have a good day boys."

"Bye." they chorused before she hung up.

"You know that's my favourite dish. What about you?"

"I don't really care what we eat. But I think it will cheer you up."

"Who said I was sad?" Tobio retorted.

Tsuki shook his head before cupping Tobio's chin and kissing him, feeling some of the tension slip from the setter's shoulders. When they parted the setter looked at his lips before kissing him again, and who was Kei to refuse.

"I can taste the caramel. It's nice." 

"You're pretty sweet too."

"I-idiot." Tobio mumbled, turning away with a blush.

"Your idiot." Kei stated with a grin, almost choking on his drink when the setter pushed his shoulder, his cheeks as red as the strawberries on Tsuki's cheesecake. But he also didn't miss the small smile present on his face too.
