"I'm right here, okay? Look, perfectly fine. So are you."
Slowly Tobio's dark blue eyes looked up to meet concerned golden ones and he frowned as he looked around the room once more, his breathing slowly evening out. Then he looked back to the blond and let out a large sigh of relief; the older took this as a signal to move closer, and he pulled the setter into a hug.
"You're okay. It's okay, you're safe." he whispered assurances until Tobio had relaxed in his arms, hands gripping his shirt as he hid his face in the crook of the blond's neck.
"I- I... you- he..."
"You don't have to say anything right now. Just take some deep breaths, alright?"
Kageyama slowly nodded his head and began to follow Tsuki's example, taking long breaths in and out until he could breath naturally.
"Did I scream?" the younger suddenly asked in a fearful voice.
"No... what did you dream of that made you ask if you were screaming?"
"Them. That night."
"What they did?"
"Y-yeah..."
"Oh, Tobio." Kei placed a gentle kiss on the black locks.
They stay wrapped in each other's arms until Kageyama was fully relaxed and falling back asleep. Despite being unwilling to shut his eyes, not wanting to relive those memories, with Kei's warm hand running up and down his back and the safety he felt in his arms, he soon fell asleep. The blond following soon after...
"Kei, Kei wake up."
A quiet voice in Tsukishima's ear woke him up from his deep sleep. He squinted his eyes open and rubbed the sleep away before grabbing his glasses from the side. He slipped them on and found his mother standing by the side of the bed, looking at him with a warm smile.
"Morning." he greeted with a rough voice.
"Good morning dear, but you know it's almost midday."
"Huh?"
The blond's eyes widened and he looked at the clock on his bedside. It was 11:53AM and it was a school day. He pushed himself up into a sitting position before looking at Kageyama, making sure he was relaxed. And he really was: the older smiled at the completely knocked out expression on the teen's face. They both must have slept through the alarm. Oh well, he wanted Tobio to have a day off anyways after what happened yesterday.
"I knew how stressful yesterday was so I didn't bother waking you up. I know you'll keep on top of your studies and that Tobio needed some downtime from school." his mother explained, himself nodding along as he woke up.
"So why did you wake us up now?"
"Because I made brunch. Wake yourself up some more then Tobio too. He's probably starving since he didn't eat last night."
Tsuki nodded and his mother placed a kiss on his forehead before heading out the door and downstairs to finish cooking. Turning to the sleeping male next to him, he called out his name quietly until he stirred. When blue eyes met gold he slid back down the bed until he was lying down and facing Tobio.
"Good morning."
"Hey Kei." the younger responded quietly, still waking up.
"You hungry? Food's waiting downstairs."
"... Yeah, sorta. Um, are... are you okay?"
Tsuki frowned at the random question and said that he was, but asking in return why the younger asked him that question.
"I've been thinking. With everything going on you're always looking after me... and I never really return the gesture. So, um, when last night happened, I wanted to know if you're, you know, doing okay."
Kageyama's gaze diverted away from the blond as he spoke slowly, unsure if he was saying the right thing. He had just been feeling guilty lately that Tsuki was going through everything with him and taking care of him, yet he struggled to give anything back.
That is how relationships work, right?
"Tobio, I know you don't think you've given me anything but you have. More than you know."
"Huh?" Kageyama looked confused as he turned to face Tsuki.
"Listen," began the blonde, gently taking hold of one of the setter's hands, "I admit to not being the most openly caring and nice person, and I've never found someone I can love and take care of. And then you, with all your cute pouts and habits and weird obsession with milk, appear in my life and flip everything upside down."
"But I've done nothing but give you trouble." argued Kageyama.
"I knew what I was getting into when I accepted my feelings for you. And even though a crazy amount of things are happening in your life right now, none of that matters. Because you've helped me become more open and kind and talkative and caring."
"Oh..." was all the younger could reply with, looking at their joined hands with a thoughtful expression.
"So to answer your question, I'm okay. More than okay, actually. Alright?"
"Alright. But now I want milk."
Tsuki looked at Tobio with amusement before shaking his head, knowing that would have been one of the things the younger focused on. He helped him sit up and then carried him downstairs without warning.
"I'm showing my caring side. The one you helped me with."
Tobio did nothing but sigh with amused resignation, resting his head on the blond's shoulder and wondering how he got so lucky to be with someone like Kei.
