24 - Refresh

It was a cold Monday morning in autumn, and Kageyama could feel the cool temperature sneak into his bed even when he tried to wrap himself up in his covers. He looked over at the alarm clock on his bedside, seeing that it was 6:30AM and practise began in half an hour.

He and Tsukishima had cuddled in bed all of Saturday and spent Sunday watching movies on the blond's laptop, still cuddling in bed after they'd eaten and washed up. He had to come back home last night to get his uniform and bag for school so Tsuki walked with him. Along the way he couldn't help but feel worried, not knowing where and in what state his parents were in.

Luckily, when he opened the door he found that no-one was home. He stood in the doorway and said thankyou once again, even when the older told him he didn't have to. He cheeks tinted a soft rose when the blond placed a light kiss against his forehead before turning and heading back home; he watched his figure walk up the street and disappear around the corner before he headed inside.

He had a long shower and skipped eating, not feeling like he could keep anything down at that moment. As he lay in bed, looking out at the risen moon in the sky, he managed to drift off to sleep.

For an hour.

He woke up at 11PM and told himself he would set his alarm before he went back to sleep. And that didn't work out either. The clock had hit 3AM before he managed to sleep again, but it was more due to the fact that his body couldn't cope than him feeling tired. Kageyama couldn't remember his head hitting the pillow and had forgotten to set his alarm.

Fortunately, he never went on a run on Mondays, so he had just enough time to get up and dressed before heading out the door. He underestimated the temperature so headed back inside and grabbed a hoodie, putting it on underneath his school blazer.

He wasn't feeling up to practise. And even though his hands itched to serve a volleyball and perform an amazing set, his mind didn't. And his willpower had disappeared alongside his energy. At least he was going to school; to him that was an improvement.

After around twenty minutes of walking Karasuno high came into view. He walked through the open gates and looked at the time on his phone. 7:15AM. Oh well, close enough.

The familiar sound of practise greeted him and he slid open the door to the gym; immediately all eyes were on him.
