At around 6PM that evening, the pair finally left the café after wishing Sobo a good evening. Tobio burrowed into his hoodie and stuck close to the middle blocker who always seemed to be warm. Or maybe he was just cold?
"Do you want to stay mine tonight? All you things are at mine anyways." offered Tsuki, although he was mostly sure the setter would say yes. The only uncertainty was the younger not wanting to be seen as taking advantage. Wow, the blond thought, maybe Sobo's gift really did work?
"If it's okay; maybe I'll sleep better."
"Have you thought about medication? If you don't want to do something about your parents then they could help you sleep? But I wouldn't want you to-"
"To get addicted? I don't know, I hate drugs."
The older raised a brow at this statement, remaining quiet for a moment before asking.
"Do you parents do drugs?"
"My dad used to. A long time ago. It was not a fun time."
"No, I guess not."
"Besides, I might over-rely on them and have to use them forever. That does not sound fun."
Tsukishima nodded and they ended that conversation there. They turned to talking about music, with Kageyama asking if the blond had found any good songs lately; confessing he liked the music he listened to.
"I'll have a look."
And in sync, they both pulled out their earphones and plugged them into the dual adaptor. Kageyama looked down at Tsuki's phone as the middle blocker scrolled through his playlists. After a few seconds a song title caught his attention.
"That one?"
"Sure."
PILLOWTALK by Zayn began to play, and at first the quiet beat was relaxing. But- as the lyrics went on- the younger's eyes widened and he told Tsuki to turn it off.
"Turn it off." the younger said with a red face.
"Why?"
"Shut up!" Kageyama shouted at the older's smirking face.
The middle blocker eventually gave in and turned it off, instead putting on another song: Forever Young by Boy In Space. Kageyama liked the lyrics and hummed the melody as they walked, his mind focusing on the music whilst his eyes looked at the scenery around him. Hazy streetlights, blossom trees with petals scattered all around them, the purply-red sky from the setting sun, and the quiet streets.
"What are you thinking about?" asked Tsuki, seeing the distracted look on the setter's face.
"For once, nothing. I'm just trying to appreciate the present."
"Good. Sometimes I just stop thinking."
"You? Stop thinking? I feel like your mind is always working."
"Hm, it gets tiring."
"Maybe I'll help you dumb down a bit." Kageyama offered with a dry smile.
"Hey, what did I say about all that self-hate stuff?"
"I wasn't. I was just being honest."
"Well, like Suga says: negativity, begone!"
Tsuki lightly hit the setter's side, a smug look on his face. Kageyama was stunned, looking down at his ribs before back up at the middle blocker with intense eyes.
"Hey, you're always hitting me so now we're even."
"Run."
"Oh shi-"
"Tsukishima Kei you bastard!"
Tsuki turned and ran, looking behind him to see a black-haired male with murderous intent written all over his face. He couldn't help but let out a laugh at how serious he looked, making the younger run faster. Eventually, he managed to catch up to the middle blocker- all his racing with Hinata had been paying off- and he jumped onto the older's back.
"Bloody hell Kags!"
"Don't do that again. That's my thing." the setter stated, not getting off Tsuki's back.
"I can see that. But you did jump a little when I did it? Are you ticklish, perhaps?"
"No!" the younger retorted too quickly.
"Mhm, sure. This is good information for later."
"Stupid Saltyshima."
The blond just grinned at the face slumped onto his shoulder, arms and legs tightening their grip around him. Sighing, he grabbed the younger's thighs so he wouldn't fall off and continued their journey, enjoying the smile he could see from the corner of his eye.
