Time: 8:15AM

Kageyama: 4 hours is better than nothing.

Tsukishima: You said you kept waking up. Why?

Kageyama: I was... restless.

He had to slip his phone into his pocket as the teacher walked around and handed out worksheets, giving an explanation of the first example question. When they were back at the front he pulled out his phone.

Time: 8:21AM

Kageyama: I kept waking up and getting paranoid about my parents coming home.

Kageyama: I-

Tsukishima: You were scared?

Kageyama: ... Yeah.

Tsuki didn't text back so he slipped his phone away, making a start on the worksheet. It was grammar, not his worst subject. He slowly made his way through the questions, looking to the board for help.

It was almost the end of the lesson when the middle blocker replied, his phone buzzing quietly:

Time: 8:50AM

Tsukishima: Did they?

Kageyama: I don't think I would be here if they were.

He had already press sent by the time he had realised what he had just sent. His eyes widened and he hastily sent another text.

"Shit." he muttered.

Time: 8:52AM

Kageyama: That came out wrong!

Tsukishima: Did it?

Kageyama: ...

Tsukishima: It's okay to be honest.

Kageyama read the older's message before sighing and putting his phone away. He spent the next hour thinking over what he had said, no, what he had blurted out so unconsciously. Is that what he truly thought? Was he afraid of his parents? He didn't know and it was infuriating.

Sighing, he lay back in his seat and  tried to pay attention to the lesson; the hoodie provided some much needed warmth.

Just before the hour struck he felt his phone vibrate again, signalling a new message.

Time: 9:45AM

Tsukishima: Let's talk, I'll come find you at break.

Kageyama replied with an okay before finishing off the last few questions of the task. But, before he did, he looked back down at his phone debating something.

Change contact name?

Yes.

Kageyama has changed Tsukishima's name to Tsuki🧂.

Down the hall, a middle blocker had just sat down from answering a question and raised a brow at the buzz from his phone. When he took it out of his pocket he saw the new contact name and decided to do the same.

Change contact name?

Yes.

Tsuki has changed Kageyama's name to King 👑 .

Just as he pressed save the bell went off and he put his morning's work in his bag before slipping out of his seat and into the corridor, easily making his way through the growing crowds of students all catching up on their weekends. He reached the end of the corridor when a pair of blue eyes met his.

Kageyama had just gotten up- telling Hinata he was going to the vending machine- and slipped out of his classroom. It was perfect timing.

"Hey."

"Nice hoodie." the older said with a smirk, causing the setter to blush.

"Shut up. I didn't realise."

Kageyama turned to head downstairs, not looking to see if Tsuki was following him. But a constant pair of footsteps told him that he was. He pushed open the doors and went outside, wrapping his arms around himself at the cool temperature.

"It suits you." complimented the middle blocker, knowing he would be heard now there were only a few students about.

"Noya totally knew."

"Maybe."

Kageyama put some money into the machine and pressed the button for a carton of milk and the blond did the same but brought two strawberries and cream dorayaki. One which he offered the setter.

"You haven't eaten."

"How did-"

"Well," the older began as they sat down on the staircase inside. He had that look on his face that Kageyama knew all to well: the one he would wear when he was about to say something either really smart, snarky or sarcastic. "You said you didn't realise you put on my sweater meaning you were probably in a rush so didn't have any breakfast. It's also likely you didn't eat last night because you were worrying too much."

"Oh." was all the younger replied with.

He took a bite of the small snack and found it tasted quite nice. They sat quietly for a while, only speaking when Kageyama noticed the middle blocker really liked strawberry flavoured things.

"But not strawberries."

"What!?" Kageyama looked at him with confusion.

"Kidding."

"Boke."

"But onto other things." Tsukishima suddenly sounded serious.

The setter knew what he was going to ask and let out a sigh, trying to stall by getting up and putting his rubbish in the bin. Tsuki noticed this and took the younger's hand in his when he sat back down, brushing his thumb across the pale knuckles.

"You were being serious, weren't you."

"... I don't know. It just sort of came out. But, I guess-"

"What?"

"What if next time is worse than the last?"

Tsuki was about to answer but the bell rang. They would be late if they didn't head back now. When they stood up he brought the younger into a hug that was readily accepted, letting his emotions show through his actions.
