Kageyama got out of bed with a heavy sigh. At first his body didn't want to sleep but now it seemed to be the only thing it wanted to do.
He took it slow when walking to the bathroom and running the bath, sitting on the edge for a while as he waited for the dull thudding in the back of his skull to pass. Once the water was hot he put in the bathplug and headed downstairs to see the true extent of his parents' behaviour.
Yet, when he walked into the living room and peered into the kitchen, there was no mess to be found. There was no broken glass on the floor and the living room was tidy with cushions and blankets where they were supposed to be. He realised Tsuki must have cleaned up whilst he was passed out. He felt that same tightness in his chest and so walked to the backdoor, opening it and seeing two black binbags waiting to be thrown away.
He leaned in the doorway and inhaled and exhaled slowly. He just felt so useless and pathetic. He was barely functioning as a human being and the older was taking time out of his life to help him even when he had school and its exams as well as volleyball going on. His parents had basically left him to deal with his issues by himself as they were off doing who knew what.
Shivering from the cool air, he shut the door and headed upstairs to turn off the bath. He took off his clothes before submerging himself in the hot water, the steam numbing and clouding his head. He let himself go underwater for a few moments, enjoying the complete silence apart from the sound of his heartbeat.
He could only stay under for around thirty seconds before he emerged and began to wash his hair and body. He could admit it was relaxing: taking the time to focus on one simple task at a time and the warmth of the room easing his achy body.
The opening of the door downstairs pulled Kageyama from his little bubble and he rinsed off before getting out of the bath and pulling out the plug. He watched for a moment as the water disappeared down the drain, its body forming a small whirlpool at the end of the bath. He grabbed a fresh towel and began to dry off before brushing his teeth and getting changed.
"Hey, you okay?" a voice could be heard from the other side of the door alongside a gentle knock.
The setter shook his head- admitting that he was very much not okay- but then realised the blond couldn't see him so replied with a yes. He sighed before opening the door and he saw the middle blocker was putting a paper cup on the bedside alongside a blueberry muffin.
"I didn't know what you liked so I got a little of everything. And don't even think about paying me, I volunteered to do it." Tsuki added, knowing the younger wouldn't approve of his actions.
"So I'm a charity case now?" Kageyama muttered to himself with a small, dry laugh.
Tsuki watched as the setter sat on his bed and looked down at his hands with a sigh. He didn't even acknowledge the refreshments on the side. He could see the struggle in the male's blue eyes and tried to think of what to say without making him any more upset.
At last, he decided on actions over words. He sat on the bed and moved behind the setter; he wrapped his arms gently around the younger's waist and rested his head on his shoulder. He slowly took Kageyama's hands and held them in his, lightly tracing over each line in his palm. Kageyama watched his movements- almost mesmerised by the action- and his tensions slowly eased away.
