95 - Curiosity

"Are you sure you're going to be okay?"

Kageyama turned his gaze away from the window and spun around to see a concerned Suga and Asahi in the seats behind him. The team were all going to their first training camp in a while, and so of course everyone was asking Kageyama if he was doing okay every five minutes.

At the training camp he wouldn't be doing much in the matches, but he wasn't going to pass up the opportunity of getting in practise times with some really amazing players.

"I'm okay, thanks. And yes I have everything before you ask." he added.

"Everything everything?"

"Everything." Kageyama sighed.

He had to take an extra large bag for all of his pills and bandages. His ribs had been playing up in the last few days and so he had been wrapping them up again. But this hadn't stopped him from continuing going to practise at school; thanks to him Suga and Asahi were much more confident in their serving now.

"Alright, but don't hesitate to get any of us if you're not feeling good."

Kageyama just nodded his head and turned back around, looking out the window with a sigh. He was glad he was making himself get out of the house and go to this training camp. He would spend the time everyone was playing matches catching up on schoolwork, he often did this with Ennoshita at school anyways.

As they pulled up at Nekoma High, he felt a soft tug on his hand from Tsuki; he returned it with a small smile before they got up, grabbing their bags and getting off the bus. Daichi and Kuroo shook hands whilst Hinata raced over to Kenma. Kageyama stuck with Tsuki and Yamaguchi whilst they headed inside to sort out their things.

Kuroo said they would have an hour to relax after the journey before they started practise, so everyone spread out around the room to do their own thing. Some people took naps, Yamaguchi and Hinata went to one corner and cuddled whilst watching a film, Noya and Tanaka went to raid the kitchen, and Kageyama went out for a walk.

"Want me to come with?" Tsuki asked as his boyfriend slid the door open.

"I'll be okay. See you later."

The blond nodded and watched the door shut before distracting himself with some revision he had to do for an advanced class. Drowning the team out with his music, he didn't realise how much time had passed until he felt a weight on his head.

"Busy?" Tobio asked as he looked down to the middle blocker's work, frowning at the difficult equations.

"Nearly done."

"Well Daichi said we're going down now. You can finish it later."

The team all headed down to the gym where an excited Nekoma and Fukurodani were waiting. Greetings were made before they began to stretch and do light warm-ups. To say the Tokyo teams were surprised when Kageyama went to sit at the side, watching his teammates instead of joining them, was an understatement.

Kuroo recalled Daichi saying Kageyama wouldn't be participating much but didn't specify why, so curiosity was getting the better of him. He could see Kenma was also curious, casting quick and analytical glances to the first year crow.

"I think he's injured." he heard Kenma state quietly.

"Huh? How'd you figure that out?" the captain asked with surprise. Kageyama looked fine.

"He's unconsciously holding his ribs when he walks. Look."

Kuroo paused in his stretching and watched as Kageyama stood up to go and speak to their coach. It was true: he brought a hand to his shirt and adjusted something underneath it, a small frown on his face.

"What do you think happened?" he asked, but didn't get a reply; turning around, he found Kenma was sitting in the corner on his game station.

Kuroo called his team in for a strategy meeting, but even as they headed onto the court and began the match, his curiosity wouldn't die off. No matter how awesome his blocks were. Sure, he wasn't exactly close or good friends with the setter, but he enjoyed the times they had practised together. He was an exceptional player; so he knew it must be bad if he wasn't playing a sport he so clearly loved...
