"God I'm so tired."
Kageyama groaned and stretched his arms over his head as he and Tsuki walked home after practise.
"You were really amazing today." the blond complimented.
"S-shut up."
"I'm serious. You gave good advice and every really listened to you and appreciated your help. There were immediate improvements."
"I guess."
"But you also looked happy."
Tobio looked at Tsuki who was looking ahead of them as they walked. He could see a calm expression on his face, yet there was a small smile on his face when he looked over at the younger.
"It was a little fun..." the setter confessed with a smile of his own; they continued their walk in a peaceful silence until they reached the house.
They walked in and found Akiteru watching some TV show in the living room, and he told them their mother had gone shopping and would be back soon. They grabbed drinks from the kitchen before heading upstairs to change out of their uniforms and into t-shirts and joggers since the nights were getting a little colder.
"Do you have any homework?" Tsuki asked as he took his Japanese homework out of his bag to complete before dinner.
"Uh, some Japanese I think. Wait, it's the same as yours. Nice, now you can help me."
The pair sat down on the bed with pens, pencils and rubbers scattered around their papers. It was simple grammar work so not too complicated but Kageyama sometimes asked for help with particularly difficult words and how best to write them. Kageyama thought that Tsuki was a really good teacher; he could probably make a profession out of it if he wanted to. But then again, he was too salty so he would make the kids cry.
"Tobio!"
"Huh?" the younger asked, shaking his head a little to pull out of his daze.
"You totally zoned out. You okay?"
"Oh yeah, I was just thinking about you making little children cry."
"Oka- wait, what?!"
Kageyama just grinned and refocused on the work, the middle blocker following after a few very long, confused moments. But he sighed and thought this was another one of Kageyama's weird antics and let it go. But would he make children cry? It would be funny, but a little sad. But funny.
"Boys I'm home!"
They heard the door open and close and put their now complete homework away before going downstairs to help carry in the shopping. There wasn't too much so it was one bag each. Kageyama noticed there was a pack of his favourite milk boxes in the bag he carried and mentally celebrated. Today was actually turning out to be a good day.
"What's the plan for tea?" Akiteru asked as he put the kettle on to make his mother a cup of tea.
"I'm thinking grilled salmon. I brought it fresh today. Kei, Tobio, does that sound good?"
Both nodded their heads, with Kageyama offering to help with the cooking. She politely declined- knowing it was his first day back today and she didn't want to overwhelm him. Tobio liked to help with the cooking and baking, finding it relaxing and enjoyable. Plus her cooking really was amazing.
"You two go and relax. But first, how was your day?"
"Really good actually."
"I'm glad, now shoo. Shoo! Let me cook in peace."
Kageyama grabbed one of the milk boxes before he left the kitchen with Kei, and his mother gave him a knowing smile that made him blush. What, he just really loved milk okay! The duo returned to Kei's bedroom and watched some new anime on his computer. It was relaxing, Tobio curled up in Tsuki's side, the blond providing him with just the right amount of warmth.
Yet, something was a little off. It was almost ominous. He tried to brush it off and watch the show, but it continued throughout dinner. Nobody seemed to notice something was up and he tried to ignore it when relaxing in the shower. But now he and Kei were in the older's bed and just mindlessly chatting. Sure, Kageyama had his own room but he almost always slept in Tsuki's bed.
"What's up?" the blond suddenly asked.
"Huh? I'm okay."
"Sure you are."
"How did... whatever. I just feel, like, anxious. It feels like I'm waiting for something to happen even when I know nothing is. I feel restless, I guess."
Tsuki cuddled closer to Kageyama and asked if he had taken his pills. He had, and yet he didn't feel relaxed.
"Well, you're warm and safe so there's nothing to stress about. Besides, I'm here too."
"Gonna fight off the bad guys for me?" the setter teased.
"Nah, I'd kill them with my words."
"Or make them cry and feel bad about themselves."
"True."
It was silent for a moment before they burst into laughter, talking about the things the blond would say until the bad guys would be crying and begging for him to stop talking. It was too much fun, and before they realised it was very late at night and they had to sleep. Tsuki leaned over to the bedside and turned the lamp off before settling under the covers with Kageyama, placing a light kiss on his forehead before letting himself fall asleep.
"Goodnight Tobio."
"Night Kei. Wake me up if I start screaming?"
"Not gonna happen love. I've got you."
