The rest of the training camp passed by quick enough, and soon Karasuno were heading back to Miyagi. And although sometimes Kageyama did miss playing intense match after match, he appreciated the change of scenery. On the bus journey home, he and Kei sat at the back, keeping the row to themselves as they listened to some music, just enjoying each other's company as the scenery went by.
"What are you listening to?" Hinata asked, turning around in his seat to push his face right in front of the two boyfriends.
"Why do you care?" Kageyama mumbled, head leaning on the blond's shoulder as he shut his eyes, feeling a little tired from the long trip.
"Because!"
The setter mumbled incoherently as he turned to hide his face in Tsuki's jacket, making the older male stifle a smile. Hinata just grinned and teased:
"Has he taken his sleep meds? He's never this soft otherwise."
"I'mnotsoftI'llkillyougingerboke."
"Yeah, sure you will!"
"Shut up."
"Seriously, why do you care what we're listening too?" Tsuki asked with a raised brow.
"B-because I... I wanna make a playlist for Tadashi."
"First names already?" the blond asked. "Disgusting."
"Oh shut up you tall stick of salt!"
"If I tell you will you leave us alone?"
"Okay!" Hinata agreed with a grin.
"Fine, we're listening to Caffeine by Kiro Akiyama. But just so you know, Yamaguchi likes soft rock."
"Wah, really?!"
"Yes, now get lost and let me spend time with my boyfriend you ginger waste of space."
From what they could see, Tobio's lips turned up in a smile and a small breathy laugh escaped, it happened again when Hinata turned back around and slumped down in his seat, pulling out his phone rapidly.
"Now that the tangerine is gone..." Tsuki left his statement hanging in the air and instead slouched down in his seat and wrapped his arms around Tobio.
"Just ask me already."
"You haven't slept properly all week, have you?"
"... No."
"Why? It can't be anything to do with your pills because you're taking them the same as always. What's bothering you? You can tell me."
"I know, it's just that I've been thinking about my parents, their sentence. And although I do feel better about telling others outside of the team, those stupid thoughts keep telling me that they'll get hurt. It's stupid I know, they can't get hurt when my mother and father are rotting away in cells."
Kei remained quiet for a while, simply running a hand up and down Tobio's back to provide some comfort. He knew that recovery was a long process, especially with what Tobio had been through, but he also thought that the setter was making progress.
He was sleeping better, eating consistently, and had fewer nightmares. He was taking the meds when he needed and talked to him, his mother, the team, heck he even spoke to Akiteru sometimes if they were alone. He was generally a lot happier.
"Is it the fact you were staying somewhere different that made you restless?" he guessed.
"Maybe. I do prefer your bed to the futons we had." teased Tobio, smiling at the faint red of the blond's cheeks.
"Our bed." Kei corrected after a second for recovery. "It's better with you in it. "
"Ew, stop!"
"You know you like it." the blond teased back, daring to be bold by leaning down and pressing a kiss onto his boyfriend's neck. God, would he ever get tired of that word? He didn't think so.
Kageyama squirmed and pushed him away, but he couldn't help his small smile. They only had one early morning together the entire week, and the rest of their time was spent with the other teams. It would be nice to enjoy each other's company at home and have some quiet time.
Home... he could get used to that.
